Looking for a DJ who is NOT cheesy?? Hi, I'm Cookie Policy (but my mom calls me, Brett). Established in 2007, I've DJ hundreds of events between weddings, private parties & nightlife. I work hand-in-hand with clients to ensure that the music & MC'ing are custom tailored to each event. With a background in audio engineering and independent music, I bring a "left-of-center" vibe to all of my events with an ability to not just play good music, but also ensure high quality audio and Mic'ing throughout.

Don't bother reading this, just book Brett. Seriously. Go. Brett DJ'ed my wedding in June 2018, and he was FANTASTIC. My wife put me in charge of coordinating all of the music for the wedding, and Brett made it the easiest job I've ever had. Leading up to the wedding, his organization was spectacular, creating a Google doc for us to input songs we needed to hear at specific moments (processional, recessional, first dance, etc.), as well as songs we liked for cocktail hour and songs for the dance party. Additionally, he asked for what we did NOT want to hear, to ensure everything went smoothly. A few days before the wedding, we hopped on the phone with Brett to go over everything, including name pronunciations, since he was handling all MC duties as well. I left that call feeling confident that we would have a great time; he was buttoned-up, professional, and understood everything we wanted from our celebration. The day of, everything ran smoothly. Brett handled the ceremony, and then seamlessly moving his equipment to the other side of our venue for the reception. He kept people dancing all night long, and even went above and beyond incorporating a song that was written specifically for my wife and I towards the end of the reception. We had a blast, and all of our guests danced like crazy. A huge thank you to Brett for ensuring that we had the time of our lives, and a night we'll never forget. Hire this man!

My husband and I are total music snobs, it was the one thing we were kinda bride/groom-zilla-y about, and Brett was the absolute perfect wedding DJ for us. Super low-key (which is what we requested-- just some basic MC-ing, no games, no banter), just super fun music-- he catered to our tastes, but also playing tons of his own excellent soul and funk collections. Just the best.

What should the customer know about your pricing (e.g., discounts, fees)?
Pricing is typically based on time. For large events, setup and breakdown are off the clock. Typical rate (includes equipment, travel, performance & consultation): $485/hr. Prices go down for any gig over 4 hours. *I pay $100 for any referral that leads to a signed contract for a larger event (i.e. wedding, corporate event, etc.)
What is your typical process for working with a new customer?
We talk as much or as little as we need in order to custom tailor the event to your desires. Once a deposit of 50% is paid, and a contract is signed, I am reserved for your date.
