- What should the customer know about your pricing (e.g., discounts, fees)?
*Possibility of discounted rate for prepaid session packages; please inquire for details. *Initial meeting/call at no charge to discuss your goals, answer any questions you may have, and make a plan for how to help you meet your learning goals. *Sliding scale rates available on a limited basis - I believe in making education available to everyone, and I am willing to work with you on pricing if needed and when I have sliding scale openings available.
- What is your typical process for working with a new customer?
During our initial conversation, I like to learn about your background, learning goals, and learning preferences. If needed, I do a baseline assessment of the your reading, writing, and/or speaking abilities, according to the area(s) that you wish to improve. I happily answer any questions you may have for me (choosing the right teacher is important!), and I propose an individualized plan of study based on the your personal needs and goals.
- What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?
I am currently a PhD student in French Studies at Brown University, and I also hold two MA degrees in Language and Literature with a focus on language acquisition and pedagogy. I have completed extensive and specialized training in language instruction, dual language immersion, special education, and approaches to teaching language to people with a widely varied learning styles and abilities. In addition to my formal teaching experience - which includes teaching French immersion courses, French language and literature courses in both a public middle school and an independent high school, and college-level French courses at three universities - I have also worked as a private tutor for over a decade, developed a wide range of course materials and curricula, and worked with students of all ages and abilities.
