My shutters were taken down and painted and the house was powerwashed. I have had my house powerwashed before but not with this much attention to detail. To really clean second floor a ladder was used. I appreciated the attention to detail and the professional work ethic. Worth the cost.

Honestly I didn't know what to expect from this company. The owner, Mike, explained that while he was new to Thumbtack; he was willing and ready to work hard in order to gain a reputation of greatness. My wife claims I'm difficult to please and you'd probably hear the same from my friends/family.... Mike and Kelvin produced fantastic results. They painted almost every room in my house. Built in the 80's, my house had a few rooms with popcorn ceilings. Our master, living room and the office were updated 8 or 9 years ago. The rest still had that pesky popcorn stuff on the ceilings. They moved the furniture out, scraped, repaired and sprayed my ceilings. Wonderful results. I'm amazed honestly. You would never guess that the ceilings were once covered in that unsightly popcorn stuff. I also had them paint the walls and trim throughout the house. Mike suggested a few accent walls for eye-catching contrast. What a difference! He used Sherwin Williams Cashmere and even though I purchased the paint, he let me use his account and I couldn't believe the quality for the price. While they were painting, Mike noticed some of the trim around my doors had damage from our dog chewing on it. He offered to replace it and while I was hesitant; he convinced me to do it and I couldn't be happier. My house hasn't looked this good in 20 years. This company is outstanding. I would recommend Harrison Total Home Care to anyone.

We needed a large crack in our ceiling to be fixed quickly and efficiently. Scott contacted me in less than an hour after my Thumbtack request was submitted. He then came and gave us a quote. He arrived early for the job and finished it in a matter of hours. He worked efficiently and did the job almost to perfection. He truly knew what he was doing and the finished product was proof of that. He fixed the crack and matched the ceiling paint so well that you can barely see where the job was done. We are so incredibly thankful for Scott's work! We recommend him for any of your dry wall needs. I'm convinced that he knows what he's doing!

Anthony and his team did an outstanding job painting my condo. They went above and beyond and I highly recommend them. My condo looked so nice when they were done. I live out of state but Anthony made it easy to coordinate- I sent him the paint color names and they were exactly what I wanted. Anthony also ensured that I was 100% happy with the final result and I really am.

THIS GUY GETS THE JOB DONE!!! Not only was John cordial, honest and hardworking, but he was clean! At the end of each day, my home looked as it did before he came in to work on the bathroom renovation. John tiled the floor, drywalled, painted and did numerous other jobs pertaining to the renovation. My husband and I were very pleased and for the first time ever didn't get in a fight because of construction work in our home!

I had a great experience with this company. They were very prompt to respond, set the job up, and complete the job. They were very thorough, and had me walk through the house to make sure I was satisfied. I even got a follow up to make sure I was happy with the job. I highly recommend this company and I know who I will call in the future for further paint projects 😄

My husband did not want to paint our shed, so I call CGs Freshcoat Painting to make an appointment at his convenience and he fit me in within two weeks. My shed looks wonderful now, before my up coming summer cookout. Here are some before and after pictures and I am sorry, if they are upside down.

Q & A

Answers to commonly asked questions from the experts on Thumbtack.

How much do painters cost?

The national average cost for an interior painter ranges between $450 and $900. Interior painters can tackle everything from complete color makeovers in each of your rooms to touching up an accent wall to painting pieces of furniture. The square footage and complexity of the project, along with the materials needed, are the main factors that will affect cost. Other factors include whether you supply the paint yourself or want the painter to do so, whether you move the furniture and do the prep work or ask them to do it, and whether any repair work is needed on the walls. Painting the ceiling and the trim will also have an effect on cost. The type of paint you choose can also raise or lower your house painting cost. A gallon of paint may range from $20 to over $100, depending on quality and brand. Ask your painter if they charge per hour or per square foot, and how much you can save by doing prep work (moving furniture, etc.) yourself.

How much does it cost to paint the interior of a house?

Interior house painting costs are calculated on a few key factors. Nationally, interior house painting projects range from $200 to $2,500. The wide price range indicates how much square footage, paint selection and labor can affect cost. One pro uses a laser to measure each room, subtracting the size of the doors and windows, and then bases the quote on the square footage of the actual surfaces to be painted. Painters may provide you with savings if you opt to paint your entire home rather than just having one room or an accent wall painted. For example, the average house painting cost for an 8x12 room with 8-foot ceilings is roughly $200, when contractor-grade paint is used. Painting ceilings, baseboards and frames can also affect cost. Pros may charge per linear foot to smooth and paint baseboards. In one area pros might charge 50 cents per linear foot to paint baseboards, while pros in another part of the country could charge $1.50 per linear foot for the same task. Painters may charge flat rates for painting door and window frames, with one charging $20-$25 and another $60 per door. Geography and regional costs to do business play a major role in the cost of interior painting. The same painter in a rural region has less to pay in taxes, transportation, insurance and overhead than they would in a major city like New York.

How much does a painter charge per room?

The cost to paint a room will vary based on the size of the room, the type of paint you select, any ceiling or trim work needed, and any repairs needed. If no repairs or other additional work is needed, painting a room with contractor-grade paint could range from $1 to $2 per square foot, including materials. Selecting a luxury paint (some cost more than $100 per gallon) will certainly increase your house painting costs. Here are some additional examples of average house painting costs, per room:

  • 12x12 room with a 9-foot ceiling: about $125
  • 12x12 room with an 8-foot ceiling: about $100
  • 14x16 master bedroom with a 9-foot ceiling: about $150
  • 14x16 master bedroom with an 8-foot ceiling: about $125
  • 16x16 living room with a 9-foot ceiling: about $175
  • 16x16 living room with a 20-foot ceiling: starting at $225
