Our lovely group of ladies arranged for a private cooking class with Chef Lisa who provided an amazing experience. Each of us have some form of diet restriction or allergy and because of her Detailed skill she was able to put a menu together that accommodated all our needs. Creative organized and professional, we felt she went above and beyond. Our meal was not only delicious but rewarding. We felt a since of accomplishment after putting the meal together. Thank you so much Chef Lisa, you are the best!!!!!!!

Dinner was superb. Chef Richard Telley served dinner to my girlfriend and I for Valentines Day. He was punctual and very professional. He brought his own equipment and started cooking as soon as he arrived. He made everything that we discussed prior, 4 course dinner. All of the dishes had an excellent presentation, my girlfriend was very impressed. Thank you so much Richard for making this a wonderful night for my girlfriend and I. Highly recommend!!!!

We booked Vince for a ladies night cooking demo in the hopes that we would learn a few tricks of the trade while enjoying some fine dining and good company. Whether engaged in a hands-on demonstration of how to fold the perfect empanada, learning the basics of a solid gastrique, or savoring every last nibble of the Fish en Papillote that we each tailored to our own tastes, Vince thoughtfully prepared every aspect of the three course meal and designed the presentation such that there was never a lull. The whole process was seamless, and Vince’s charisma and passion for cooking made for a 5 star experience and we can't wait to cook with him again!

Wendie has already changed our lives! My husband and I are both non-profit workers, so a personal chef seemed out of reach. But, after a month of eating Fritos (or the equivalent) for dinner, we re-prioritized! Wendie is wonderful, and her food is amazing!!! I recommend other families take advantage of this great opportunity to have delicious, variety-filled meals every night! I'm already a raving fan! Btw...she is cooking dairy and gluten/wheat free for us!

Cindy is experienced, professional, a great chef, and instructor! Over the past year I have learned how to sear scallops, make incredible pasta dishes and steam a lobster tail to assemble a lobster roll that was so delicious. Cindy is eager to share her knowledge and techniques with her students and clients. There is nothing to worry about if Chef Cindy is hosting your event or cooking party!

In my conversation with Comfort to Classical, it seems this chef understands my needs, partly because of his talent with nutrition and cooking and partly because he has walked in my shoes. I am very comfortable with his understanding of our needs and desires. I like his willingness to work towards a mutual goal. While we are only in the beginning plans, I look forward to working with Comfort to Classical.

About

I am a chef whose passion for good food and tasty dining started at a very young age. Following my profession as an event wedding planner for 11 years and part-time caterer, I have turned to the one thing I can get up at any hour and enjoy: cooking for others. I became a vegetarian over 15 years ago to help my children who were preemies and have since watched them grow up healthy. My passion for creating tasty meals have no limit to what I can prepare. It gives me pleasure in watching and hearing the satisfaction of those who have experienced my cooking, be it vegetarian or otherwise. I believe we are all entitled to whatever makes us happy. Cooking for family, friends, and colleagues gave me a lifetime experience that I am grateful for and has resulted in me following my heart to just cook and enjoy the smiles of the stomach.

Q & A

Answers to commonly asked questions from the experts on Thumbtack.

How much do private cooking lessons cost?

You can take private cooking classes to have fun, to learn a new skill, to improve your health, to bond with your partner, to enjoy a playful first date or to have a unique birthday party experience. Nationally the average cost of private cooking lessons ranges between $100 and $150. Prices can vary, depending on where you live, the type of cooking class you’re taking, the ingredients the chef provides, and the reputation of the chef. Cooking classes with Anthony Bourdain will clearly cost more than classes with a local restaurant owner. The number of people in the class will also affect the cost, with group lessons often priced per person to account for the cost of ingredients. For example, for group lessons, a brunch workshop may cost an average of $70 per person, a steak dinner with sides could cost an average of $80-$85 per person, and a sushi lesson could cost an average of $100 per person. Ingredients play a major role in cost, as the chef will pre-purchase the food you will be working with. Weekday classes will usually cost less than weekend classes.
