We had what I thought was a simple project replacing a sink drain. It wasn't. I called in Bobby Allison to handle. He arrived on time and, importantly, fixed other potential problems. I'm so glad I didn't try this myself. Bobby did a really fine job and we'll be calling him back for other work soon.

Mr Luster, was hired to relocate my washer to the utility room in the carport, i must say it was not an easy job because he had to use the jack hammer to dig a trench for the drain, but he did what it took to finished the job and he also fixed the concrete back to the original state it was in, he gave me an estimate and stuck to it even tho the job turned out to be more than what was expected. I'am well pleased and would recommend him for any pluming job. Debbie.

We had a clogged toilet and a clogged bathtub in our daughter's bathroom. Never having needed a plumber in the past, we simply googled local plumbers and thank goodness Sterling Craft popped up. Shane arrived on time and went straight to work. After diagnosing the problems he quickly went to get what he needed and we had a functioning bathroom in no time. Super nice guy!!! This is now our saved contact for plumbing!!

Jim initially came out to diagnose a muddy/constantly wet area in our yard that was just a few feet from our water meter. I had already had the City Water folks come out, and they had determined that whatever the issue was, it was on my side of the meter and therefore my responsibility. Jim came by within an hour and was able to partially diagnose the issue. He determined that the issue was probably a slow leak in the pipe connecting our water meter to our home. He didn't charge a service fee or anything in order to come out and take a look, but he did indicate that the area around the leak needed to be dug up so that he could provide a specific diagnosis and estimate. Being the cheapskate that I am, I chose to dig around the area. I dug down and pretty quickly found the area that was causing the leak. While digging, I apparently bumped into the pipe, creating an instant geyser of water in my yard. Yeah, I was freaking out at this point. Advantage Plumbing and Drain to the rescue! I called Jim in my panic. In less than 30 minutes he was back at my house, had the water cut off and was working to carefully dig around the exposed pipe. An hour later, our pipe was repaired, and for a VERY reasonable price. We had family coming in from out of town that night, and if Jim hadn't been available to swoop in and save our water, we might have gone all weekend without anyone being able to shower, brush their teeth or anything. I'll tell you this much, I've found my plumber for as long as I live in Greenville. Sincere thanks to Jim and the folks at Advantage for providing up-front, honest service and excellent work.

Reached out to a few different plumbers on thumbtack. Josh was able to come quickly and showed up when he said he would. Just punctuality means a lot to me. he completed several different projects around our house, new piping, some repair and snaking out a clogged drain. All went well! One piece of the piping had a slight leak but he came back promptly and addressed the issue! Would hire him again

I appreciate Joe's overall work ethic and commitment to his family. He was punctual and performed his work professionally. We had to replace a commode and unstop a drain in an old house and he did the work with knowledge of these older systems and knew exactly what to do as well as explained what to look out for. I'll be calling Joe for some more work planned.

Buckeye started cleaning apartments for us. About 4-5 per week. They are always on time and the units are clean! They have done awesome with everything we've given them to do. We given them a lot of work-such as flooring replacement, complete unit rehab, breezeway cleaning, all of our HVAC work. We are very happy with Buckeye!

Fernando completed a number of projects for us, including fixing some stubborn plumbing leaks on our water supply for our pasture, installing a new entry door complete with a new frame and caulking, installed a new sink (and removed all old materials), quieted squeaky floors, and fixed and remudded wall cracks in our home. In every instance he was professional, hard working, pleasant, honest and cleaned up all work areas very well. Fernando is skilled in many fix-it areas and has good ideas if you need advice on a project. We would definitely hire him again.

Bill did a good job removing old vanity and faucet and installing the new vanity and faucet. He did have problems getting the drain completely sealed but he said he would keep working on it until there are no leaks.

    About

Don't be fooled; if it doesn't say Roto, it's not the original rooter. It all began in 1978 when Doug bought the Anderson County franchise of Roto-Rooter from a close friend. Doug started the business with just one van and handling all the service calls himself. Brenda stayed at home, answered the phone, and dispatched calls to Doug. Since then, Doug and Brenda have bought the Oconee County franchise of Roto-Rooter and have become a full-service drain cleaning and septic tank company. Now, the company has grown to four service men and two secretaries. It has become a valuable resource for many residential, commercial, and industrial customers. Doug's main goal for the company is to make customers happy through honesty and integrity. Brenda Dorsey is now the office manager and has put many hours into Roto-Rooter to make the company what it is today. We are trusted and recommend since 1935. We serve residential and commercial properties. We also provide drain cleaning and septic tank services. Emergency service is our specialty.

    Q & A

Answers to commonly asked questions from the experts on Thumbtack.

What are plumbers and what do they do?

Plumbers are skilled professionals who are trained to install and maintain pipes and systems for drinking water, sewage and drainage. They usually have trained through four- to five-year training programs, which include apprenticeships, via trade schools and community colleges. Plumbers’ areas of expertise typically go beyond pipes to include mathematics, blueprint reading, plumbing codes and water distribution. They handle plumbing emergencies, such as broken pipes or clogged drains, and install and maintain everything from a new piping system to a replacement faucet. Plumbers also know how to install bathtubs and showers, toilets, water heaters and dishwashers. Plumbers may work on residential or commercial sites, sometimes designing and laying out a pipe system during construction.

How do you find a good plumber?

Whether you need a plumber to perform drain repair, install a new fixture, or replace rusty pipes, you need to make sure you hire someone reliable who will finish your job on time and within budget. Start by asking the plumbers on your short list these questions:

    • What is the total cost? Make sure your estimate includes materials and labor. Find out whether the plumber will be providing the materials and whether you’re being charged an hourly rate (which is variable) or a flat fee.
    • Is removal and cleanup included in the job? Some plumbers leave behind old parts, while others include the cleanup in the cost.
    • Is the work guaranteed? Find out whether the work (as well as the parts or fixtures) are guaranteed under a warranty.
