Introduction: My teaching method emphasizes practical application over theory. My goal is to get you to where you can accompany yourself and others on guitar as quickly as possible without getting bogged down in learning how to read music and learning just enough theory to be useful right away.
The thing I enjoy most about teaching guitar is when student "gets the bug" realizes the sheer pleasure in learning how to play the guitar!

Jack Marti taught my son to play guitar. I loved his style, his insistence on learning to do things well and not be sloppy. He went at a pace that was geared to stay just above the curve so as to keep things moving, but not be overwhelming. He has some really cool songs that he has written that you won't find anywhere else that he throws in as well. He also went the extra mile helping us find a great guitar to purchase too. Great guy, talented teacher.

Jack taught lessons to two of my kids when they were teenagers. He is very patient, very flexible, and has a good sense of humor. He would record them from time to time, and then post their songs on youtube, which we thought was pretty cool!

Due to my schedule I was only able to take guitar from jack for a few months, but during that brief period I learned a great deal. He focused first and foremost on technique, then sought to apply it to a variety of pieces. He also set up mini-recitals, requiring me to perfect the pieces in my growing repertoire.
I would have liked to gain more versatility, however I'm sure that would have followed if I had taken lessons for longer. I highly recommend Jack as a skilled guitarist and competent instructor.

I got my start playing the guitar from Jack, and the techniques he taught me in those first few lessons have been foundational to the way I now play 13+ years later. I have used Jack's method with my own students and have seen great results in their playing. If you want to learn to play beautiful finger style guitar, Jack is a great teacher to help you along that road!
