Brad painted walls, ceilings, and trim, he installed crown molding and he installed 800 sf of solid bamboo flooring In our Farragut home. Brad is very professional and detail oriented in the work he is performing and easy to get along with. He planned the job well before starting it, and immediately corrected anything we didn't like. Addidtional work was done at a mutually agreed respectable price. Everything he did looks beautiful, and we are so extremely happy with our new bamboo floors. We were comfortable leaving Brad alone in the house while at work. We are looking forward to inviting Brad back for upcoming projects, and are already recommending his services to our friends.

Hired Complete Solutions after meeting with several contractors based on their reviews. They were more expensive than others but I thought hey, you get what you pay for right? At the beginning of the discussions JD was super responsive and on top of everything. He was great when it came to installing the lights. We discussed payment and he said, 1/3 + materials up front, which I paid promptly, he said 1/3 when they start, which I paid, and then he said 1/3 when they finish. I made the mistake of making the last payment with them before they finished. JD came with his crew to finish out some work and they had to come back to do some dry wall repair and painting, he asked me for the final payment (less $70 bucks for the outstanding work). Well, almost 2 months later, they still haven't completed the job and have basically stopped contacting me about it. At one point, he sent his team out to do the work, told me they would be here at 10:30 am, I said great and scheduled house cleaning later that afternoon to clean up any mess, as I was having family over that weekend. No one showed at 10:30, I didn't get a call or a text or even an email. His folks showed up at 2:30, when the house was being cleaned, made a big mess in the kitchen, and still didn't finish the job. Said they'd be back in a few days... this was before Thanksgiving and guess what, I am still waiting. And for their work, well, it's okay but kinda sloppy - attaching photos.

Mark did an absolutely fantastic job getting an interior wall framed, drywalled, a 6' x 6' glass sliding door installed in my living room to convert half of it into a third bedroom. He brought in a great crew that did a top notch job. His personal touch on the finishing, trimming, and painting is second to none. This is the man to call if you need any work done on your house, even if it's an unusual job like a patio door in your living room.

Mason/Blackwell Custom Painting and Remodeling was initially hired to perform painting and some minor remodeling projects, so that my home would be ready to place on the market in Spring 2017. By the time the project actually began, the scope of the first phase had expanded into a complete bath, laundry room, den and kitchen remodeling project. The project was completed a little behind the original projected date, because of scheduling issues, as well as unforeseen repair issues due to the age of my home. Pricing was reasonable and the owner was easy to work with and fair in dealing with errors/mishaps. The 2nd phase of remodeling is set to begin in a couple more weeks.

I needed a few two story walls painted in my entry way and living room. Nick gave me a really reasonable quote that was lower than the two other quotes I got. He sent Steve out less than a week later. Steve did a great job. He was able to get it done in one coat, even though I apparently didn't buy very good paint. He even helped me figure out which walls to do the accent color on. It's been over a week and I have yet to find any missed spots or any mess ups. I highly recommend Oxendine Painting!

Lonnie did a wonderful job! He removed old decks, installed new ones, and also did plumbing and installed porcelain tile in the master bathroom. It was a difficult task, but he completed each job flawlessly. Lonnie is honest and kept his prices low. I would definitely use him again!

Had a great experience with Mike. On time, did what he said he would do, great on detail, great on checking his work. I would recommend Mike to anyone. I will use him again for my painting needs. He painted both of my decks and the inside of my home. His prices, not the lowest but not the highest was very competitive. John Stang, Lenoir City, TN

Our issue was a back door leak that was causing water staining on the baseboards beside the door. Justin sent a personalized message right away and already had positive reviews on the site. He kept in contact with me and made every effort to come ASAP since rain was forecasted for the next several days. He reassured us right away that our wood was not rotten and talked about short-term and long-term solutions. He fixed the weather-stripping on the door, improving it upon the rather shoddy job done by the new construction company in our development. He is going to come and seal the outside door frame with oil-based paint. We are working with him on some other home improvement/repair projects as well. Honest, reliable, excellent businessman. Highly recommended!

      Q & A

Answers to commonly asked questions from the experts on Thumbtack.

      How much do painters cost?

The national average cost for an interior painter ranges between $450 and $900. Interior painters can tackle everything from complete color makeovers in each of your rooms to touching up an accent wall to painting pieces of furniture. The square footage and complexity of the project, along with the materials needed, are the main factors that will affect cost. Other factors include whether you supply the paint yourself or want the painter to do so, whether you move the furniture and do the prep work or ask them to do it, and whether any repair work is needed on the walls. Painting the ceiling and the trim will also have an effect on cost. The type of paint you choose can also raise or lower your house painting cost. A gallon of paint may range from $20 to over $100, depending on quality and brand. Ask your painter if they charge per hour or per square foot, and how much you can save by doing prep work (moving furniture, etc.) yourself.

How much does it cost to paint the interior of a house?

Interior house painting costs are calculated on a few key factors. Nationally, interior house painting projects range from $200 to $2,500. The wide price range indicates how much square footage, paint selection and labor can affect cost. One pro uses a laser to measure each room, subtracting the size of the doors and windows, and then bases the quote on the square footage of the actual surfaces to be painted. Painters may provide you with savings if you opt to paint your entire home rather than just having one room or an accent wall painted. For example, the average house painting cost for an 8x12 room with 8-foot ceilings is roughly $200, when contractor-grade paint is used. Painting ceilings, baseboards and frames can also affect cost. Pros may charge per linear foot to smooth and paint baseboards. In one area pros might charge 50 cents per linear foot to paint baseboards, while pros in another part of the country could charge $1.50 per linear foot for the same task. Painters may charge flat rates for painting door and window frames, with one charging $20-$25 and another $60 per door. Geography and regional costs to do business play a major role in the cost of interior painting. The same painter in a rural region has less to pay in taxes, transportation, insurance and overhead than they would in a major city like New York.

How much does a painter charge per room?

The cost to paint a room will vary based on the size of the room, the type of paint you select, any ceiling or trim work needed, and any repairs needed. If no repairs or other additional work is needed, painting a room with contractor-grade paint could range from $1 to $2 per square foot, including materials. Selecting a luxury paint (some cost more than $100 per gallon) will certainly increase your house painting costs. Here are some additional examples of average house painting costs, per room:

      • 12x12 room with a 9-foot ceiling: about $125
      • 12x12 room with an 8-foot ceiling: about $100
      • 14x16 master bedroom with a 9-foot ceiling: about $150
      • 14x16 master bedroom with an 8-foot ceiling: about $125
      • 16x16 living room with a 9-foot ceiling: about $175
      • 16x16 living room with a 20-foot ceiling: starting at $225
