As an adult, learning an instrument can seem overwhelming. But at Knoxville Academy of Music it isnt. I found the instructors personable, caring, and positive. They dont just want you to learn at KAM, they want you to love learning, and they truly provide the environment that makes that happen. Lessons are private and affordable and competitive. Best of all, though, Knoxville Academy of Music treats you like a family friend, rather than an appointment in their book.
David has been fantastic with my boys and their guitar lessons. He is patient with my younger son and my older son loves the lessons and can't wait until the next one once they are finished. He comes home and immediately picks up his guitar to practice what he has learned and wants to talk about the lessons and time spent with David.
I took my first guitar lessons from Robert. He is an excellent instructor. As your skills quickly grow, he is adept at writing out chords for practically any tune you bring in so you will be playing your favorite songs in no time!
My daughter has learned so much from Will! I appreciate his willingness to go above and beyond for my child. I would definitely recommend Will for music lessons, especially for learning instruments.
He is a very knowledgeable teacher, who seems to care about your learning process. He wants to make sure you enjoy the lessons and stays in touch to make sure you are not having problems. I would recommend him to other students who want to learn from an amazing teacher.
If you have a desire to learn it -- guitar, music, acting, and dancing, I would personally like to allow your artistic capabilities shine.
I teach beginners and intermediate students how to play the guitar, mandolin, dobro (resonator guitar), ukulele, pedal or lap steel guitar, and more (basically any string instrument that is not bowed). I have extensive experience in playing professionally on a national scale. I have played with The Everybodyfields, Robinella, and The Black Lillies (whom I currently tour with). My students learn to play "by ear" and learn music theory as it pertains to the particular instrument's neck. My personal influences are a mixture of classic rock, country music, and folk many people call this "Americana".
I have been playing guitar for over 13 years. I play basically all types of music. I also play banjo, ukulele, bass, and sing. I can teach anyone, from beginner to moderate-level guitar players. I can teach you tablature and how to read music. Also, I can teach you the essential scales to solo with.
Hello, my name is Austin Altena, and I have over ten years of experience playing guitar. In addition, I can also play/teach the harmonica, banjo, bass, mandolin, and acoustic or electric guitar. It's only recently that I have decided to start giving "formal" lessons, but I have been helping people learn or improve their guitar skills for 4 years. I can read and teach sheet music if it is so desired, however, it is not necessary for guitar playing. I have completed several college level music theory courses. I have a versatile playing style and could teach your prospective student anything they would like to know. As of now, I do weekly lessons for 30 minutes to an hour, depending on whats being covered in the lesson. I charge thirty dollars a lesson. If you or someone in your life has the desire to learn or just improve their guitar skills, I am confident that I can give you an enjoyable and informative lesson experience. I give the lessons out of my home, and I have a studio room with everything we would need, but I am willing to travel to you if necessary.
I have several years of experience playing alternative, punk, rock, smooth jazz, acoustic and modern worship and church music, both in bands and solo. I have a passion for music, and my hope is that I can instill that in all of my students!
If you are looking to learn beginning guitar, I'm your guy. My specialty is worship music for church. I am familiar with most contemporary worship and many older gospel progressions. If you want to learn how to play and apply it to church music ministry, then I am your guy! I can work with any price range!
I'll bring a beginning guitarist up to the advanced level in ability and music comprehension. I have 20 years of experience in guitar, over 10 years in touring, and 5 years as a contacted musician for several main Christian industries. I specialize in blues, jazz, modern Christian music, classic rock, and music theory.
For the last year, Kelvin has been coming to our house each week to teach my 6-year-old daughter, Nora, and me (41 yrs old) how to play our new piano. We were both new to reading music and playing an instrument when we started. Kelvin is well known in the musical community in Santa Fe and the person who sold us our piano assured us that we had made an excellent choice of teacher (we had found Kelvin independently). Kelvin has a patient style and a good sense of humor. His approach was obviously different for me and for Nora, and he explained that adults tend to enjoy learning to play songs as soon as possible and also like variations on a given song, to keep things interesting, while kids tend to progress best by learning scales and patterns. Within the first 2 weeks, I was playing a dozen familiar tunes with confidence and after a few months the language of the music was starting to make sense to me. The weekly lessons have been productive and we increased our time from 30 minutes each to 45 minutes each for the last two months, as both Nora and I were enjoying our increased skills and wanted more lessons. Kelvin has a speech impediment which causes him to stutter. Do not let this be any kind of hindrance to considering him as a teacher. Indeed, this has allowed our daughter the opportunity to learn on 2 levels at once from Kelvin as she absorbed the music lessons while learning to be patient and appreciating that not all people talk the same way. Kelvin has been most patient and supportive of Nora and her sometimes shifting interest. For several lessons in a row, rather than just staying on book, Kelvin helped Nora to discover how to find the notes for a song that she had in her head that she had heard on the radio. Then he would teach her a variation or a fun ending, and she would get all excited and show to her friends during the week that she could play radio songs. Ill admit that I have not made much time for practice during the week and often find myself cramming during the 5-10 minutes before Kelvin arrives. Despite not committing myself more fully to learning on my own, I have progressed steadily in my ability to handle more complicated music and am nearing the end of my first music lesson book (which Kelvin brought at the first lesson for us both). I wholeheartedly recommend Kelvin as a Piano teacher.
Mr. Bos was a great piano teacher. I remember waiting in turn for my three siblings to take their lessons and when it was my turn, he was just as patient and helpful with me as he was with them. We went through different piano books, such as Piano Performance and Piano Theory, so as to be well rounded and be able to perform pieces as well as be able to scale octaves and have good technique. I am sure that he would be a great teacher to anyone of any age, and would highly recommend him. -Olivia
Michael's guitar lessons were outstanding for my 12 year old daughter. He is very professional, friendly, a good role model, and he really knows how to pull out the best in people. 2 years worth of lessons and my girl is now able to strum along with some of her favorite tunes and is really enjoying it. He stresses hard work, dedication, and building good practice habits. Would highly recommend to anyone. He might just be the best guitar player around too, I've seen him play.
