Introduction: I have been teaching full time since 2005. It is not a hobby, it is what i do. I have the patience it takes to teach ages from seven and younger to seventy and older. I love helping bring out the joy of music in others. I focus on teaching you what you want to learn, rather what I want to teach you. I teach all styles except Classical. I also teach beginning bass and ukulele. I teach in person in Knoxville, Tennessee and online. I use Muzie.live -a platform designed for music lessons from the ground up. I can also use FaceTime, Skype, and Zoom if necessary. The first lesson is free so can evaluate. If you are comfortable with my teaching style then we can continue on a monthly, or even week-to-week basis. There are no long-term contracts. I enjoy the interaction with my students. I enjoy sharing information. I love learning with my students. Teaching is a privilege that I take very seriously.

Robert is a great teacher for both adults and children alike. He has an extensive knowledge of the guitar and music theory, and explains things in an easy to understand manner. He works well with children and has the patience necessary to teach them properly. Highly recommended!

I am 13 years old and over the past 8 years, Robert has been teaching me to play the ukulele. Robert has a sweet personality and really cares about his students. He has never made me feel bad when I mess up or miss a lesson and is flexible when we need to change our meeting time or day. He makes my day better when I have my lessons with him. His positive attitude rubs off on me and makes me feel better. He is amazing at teaching in person and online. I have done both and I have learned a lot. It's great to have him show me how to do cords, notes and songs in person so I can get my fingers on the instrument better, but I actually learned my hardest cords over FaceTime with Robert, because he was able to guide me so well. Overall, I'd say Robert is an amazing person with a great disposition and amazing at his job. By teaching me how to play music, he has made my life better and has become like a member of our family. I hope he becomes like that for you.

My daughters have taken music lessons from Robert for almost 10 years, starting when they were very young. Robert has a great disposition (always kind and patient) and he has become like a grandfather to them both. His passion for music is contagious and they always look forward to their time with him each week. When we need to move our appointments to another time or day, Robert is flexible and understanding and he always let's us know well in advance, whenever he will be unavailable for a lesson. We feel very fortunate to have found Robert and I whole-heartedly recommend him as a teacher for kids and adults of all ages.

I've only had a couple lessons so far but I can already tell Rob is a fantastic teacher. I've learned more in the last two lessons than I have for almost a year of trying to learn by myself. I highly recommend him if you are looking for a guitar teacher.

I enjoyed my first lesson didn't understand everything but I will catch on. Needed structure to be able to learn more about the guitar and how to use it properly I think I will get it with Robert.

What should the customer know about your pricing (e.g., discounts, fees)?
Tuition is $120 for monthly half hour lessons. If a student starts in the middle of the month, then lessons are pro-rated at $30 per half hour lesson.
What is your typical process for working with a new customer?
Contact me by phone, email, or text. Whatever is most convenient for you. There are handouts and video lessons on my website if you want to get a feel for my teaching style. There are no costs or ads associated with my website.
What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?
I have been playing music in bands since 1967. I took a break from music for about 8 years while I was raising three children who are now all in their thirties. I have been playing music and teaching full time in Knoxville - now since 2005. I switched to online lessons due to Covid and will continue to offer online moving forward in addition to teaching in person.
