FAQs
- What is your typical process for working with a new customer?
It usually starts with a call or an email. Then I do have a questionnaire that is enormously helpful. Then there are face to face meetings along with site visits and vendor selections. There are mockups, fittings, tastings and rehearsals. Weddings have many details and a good planner stays on top of them!
- What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?
I am a certified wedding planner, however the certification was merely an afterthought. I personally feel like nothing prepares you to be a wedding planner better than actually doing the work. The key to being a good planner isn't found in any book. It's getting to know the couple. I can't give a couple what they truly want unless I know them. Then I have to plan the wedding like I would for a close friend or family member. I have to make it personal to me, because it's personal to the couple.
- How did you get started doing this type of work?
It was a happy accident! I was a young woman working in the China department at Macy's when I met THE wedding guru. She had helped hundreds of couples with their weddings and even a few celebrities. She took me under her wing and I learned from the best.
