About
Having been trained very traditionally at the university level as well as spending a number of years being self-taught, I have the ability to straddle the lines of traditional music lessons and contemporary learning styles. I realize when a students needs or wants a less traditional approach like just learning how to use chords to accompany their voices or see that they need a more classical approach rooted in proven technique and tradition.
I love seeing people "get it" and discover that they're making valuable music. This can happen at any age and any skill level.

Nathan has been, and still is a very positive professional. My 7 year old can be distracted at times, but Nathan is patient and consistent. I highly recommend him at any level of instruction. Nathan has introduced my child to playing with accompaniment (guitar or piano duets) which at times even for seasoned musicians can be intimidating. Having such experience at a young age will eliminate intimidation in his future musical endeavors. I find this unique and helpful in teaching focus in addition to teaching technique. Nathan is very creative in his teaching approach, which is very refreshing .

I was nervous and excited to start something new with my busy schedule and work life in my late 20s. I have never had rhythm or any experience with music. Nathan not only eased any anxiety I had about starting something new, he made it fun. I left feeling optimistic and giddy about learning even more than I had planned in my first session. He is easy going, friendly, and easy to talk to. In our session, he got straight to the point and asked me what I really wanted out of the lesson. I can’t wait to continue practicing with him!
I am so grateful I found an instructor who has as much talent and patience as Nathan!

I’m excited to get going with Nathan! He was really responsive when I inquired about lessons and did a great job of putting my beginner nerves at ease. He even hopped on the piano to make “real music” with me as I practiced switching (nice and slowly) between guitar chords. I’m looking for learning with him.
Details: 26 - 44 years old • No formal training • Yes, can read music staff • Acoustic • What the teacher recommends • Yes, the student has an instrument • 30 minutes • My home, venue, etc. • At the pro’s location

Nathan is an incredible piano instructor! I figured getting a late start to learning piano was going to be extremely difficult, as I’m in my late 20’s and not the fastest learner, but Nathan has made it so easy to pick up on the basics quickly. I wanted to learn to read music as well as chords so I can play my favorite songs and he has touched on both sides of that learning process with great detail. I would absolutely recommend his services to anyone interested in learning piano and look forward to continuing my lessons for a long time! :)
