Sorry this pro can’t do your job, but we know other pros who can.
Introduction: I am a Computer Repair Service Technician at a HP repair center. So I can essentially do the same thing they would do, only charge less than they or a PC repair shop would AND return your unit quicker as well. The average time it takes to get your unit back when someone sends one in to our repair center is 2 weeks or so. I can have a unit repaired and returned within 1-3 days if the repair is simple, or software related. What I like most is when I show a client their computer and they are genuinely excited to use their repaired computer.

Harry was very helpful in fixing my computer (Dell XPS 420). He adeptly diagnosed the problem, offered a couple different options for fixing it, bought the necessary part, and installed and configured it. He even cleaned the (considerable amount of) dust from it. All for a very reasonable price. He was also available and responsive. I think I just found my new personal IT guy!

FAQs

  • What should the customer know about your pricing (e.g., discounts, fees)?

I try to give quotes on a case by case basis, and typically keep my services under $50. If it can be repaired quickly then I charge under $35. Basically it just depends on how long the repair will take and if you need parts replaced. I am willing to haggle depending on the assistance needed.

  • What types of customers have you worked with?

Replacing faulty hardware, Troubleshooting software/virus issues.

  • Describe a recent project you are fond of. How long did it take?

I recently repaired an HP Slate 500 Tablet that was giving several other technicians at my job some trouble. The unit would power on but when you push a side button or place it on a table a certain way, the screen would flicker and it would shut off. Also the camera wouldn't work as well. I completely disassembled and reassembled the unit and upon putting it back together I found a very tiny piece of tape that was torn which was supposed to completely cover a connection on a small ribbon cable. So the problem was that those connections that were supposed to be covered by tape were touching something on one of the internal components and forcing it to short out and making the unit turn off immediately. I put some new tape over the connections, replaced the camera card and cables, reassembled it and everything worked perfectly!
