FAQs
- How did you get started doing this type of work?
When I stopped playing baseball, I was looking for something to do to replace it. My friend took me out to play a round. Shot 126. I was hooked. Practiced 6-8 hours a day, 5 days a week for 3 years. So, it was pretty obvious where my passion was. So over the years, I started helping others. I found I had a knack for explaining the workings of the swing. I realized I had a passion for teaching and decided to give it a shot. I've been at it now for 17 years, and wouldn't have it any other way.
- Describe a recent project you are fond of. How long did it take?
I started working recently with a junior girl whose parents called me in a panic when she developed a bit of the shanks. She was new to the game, had a ton of drive and spirit to do what we needed to do, she just needed a little guidance. Struggling to break a 110 when we met 4 months ago, she is now a threat to shoot anywhere from 82 to 92. She is building in the consistency she needs as she is moving her skills forward. Very proud of one of my fiercest competitors, Shelbie.
- What advice would you give a customer looking to hire a provider in your area of work?
When I first started in the game, I found my first couple of instructors and I didn't really connect. They were both very qualified to teach the game, but it just didn't work out. If you can find a way to sample how, and what, an instructor teaches by way of clinics or introductory lessons, you will find your decisions about moving forward, easier to make.
