I have always had an interest in music. The diversity of expression from classical to jazz and all genres in between fascinates me. Life, family and career kept me from following that interest. When I retired I decided to learn to play the guitar and learn more about music...as in reading and writing it. I wanted to be that person who could sit down and play something just for the fun of it. Paul Clancy has many adult clients. Some are professional or advanced, but a good portion are just like me...a little older and wanting to try something new. Paul and his instructors will make music part of your life whether you are 6 or 60+. You can learn to play music and have a lot of fun doing so. Clancy's guitar studio is a good place. You get the personal attention and support that fits your learning style. You will make music.

I've been a student under Paul Clancy for 4 years now. In that time he has taught me not only how to play chords on the guitar, but how to make music while playing. I started playing because I could sing but I wanted to do more, Paul showed me these amazing strumming patterns which brought the song I showed him to life. And when I told him I wanted to play classical guitar and audition with classical guitar for college (with the audition day being 9 months away and me having never played classical guitar before) he told me "It's going to be hard and focused work since we only have nine months, but I know that you can do it". He supported me through think and thin and taught me everything I needed to know. And nine months later I walked into my audition with confidence and made it into the classical guitar program at the University of North Texas. Paul is an excellent teacher and mentor, with years and years of training and experience under his belt, but he is also a wonderful friend who has guided me, and many others, to learning how to play classical guitar, acoustic or electric guitar, banjo and even ukulele and making beautiful music while playing. Paul is one of my greatest friends and one if the wisest and respected men I know. Thank you for all you've done Paul. :)

Over the past 4 years my daughter, who is now 17, went from being a person who played guitar 'okay' to being accepted into one of Texas' best collegiate music school for classical guitar. And this she has done under the watchful tutelage of Paul Clancy. He is truly a master teacher and I am thankful he came into our lives. My daughter simply adores him as a person, too. In her eyes he is '2nd Gandpa'. Paul teaches standard acoustic, electric, and classical guitar (and even banjo and ukelele) to children barely able to tie their shoes and he teaches folks who tie their grandkids shoes. Paul Clancy teaches because he loves music and people and wants to share the joy of music.

I have been a student of Clancy's Guitar School for 3 1/2 year. It has been a wonderful time. I did not know how to hold a pick when I started. I can now play and sing songs. I also enjoy playing guitar with others. I would recommend taking professionally lessons with Paul and his crew anytime, no matter your age. Thanks for your great patiences

I have been taking lessons from Paul now for over 2 years and I have to say I am amazed at what that guy has done. After a 20 year rest I decided to start playing guitar again and Paul has brought me to a level I would have never thought I could reach. I would recommend Paul to any age person that wants to learn the guitar.

FAQs

  • What advice would you give a customer looking to hire a provider in your area of work?

The first thing a potential music student should watch out for when finding an instructor is stability. Is this an instructor who has been around for a while, does he/she have referrals, what type of experience, etc. Although it is good to switch instructors from time to time a stable teacher / student relationship is an important key to a succesful learning experience.
