Introduction: I teach the Institute for Vocal Advancement technique which is at the cutting-edge of vocal science and puts vocal health first. My clients careers will sustain longer as a result of using the technique we practice. Rather than asking students to sing from the diaphragm, keep it in the mask or another new catch-phrase for voice coaching, we work with the voice as it is to create a balanced voice that is uniquely you. I love seeing the light-bulb go off when a student hits a note he/she never thought they could before.

I never took myself seriously when I sang (though I secretly wanted to) until I met Matt Ramsey and he started coaching me. He is patient, encouraging, and it is easy to tell this is something he is passionate about. Matt's teaching not only greatly improved my ability to sing (I still have plenty of work to do), but I found I had gained self-esteem over a new-found instrument I didn't even know I had. Others have since commented that they like my singing voice and they can tell I have improved (something I never thought I would hear in my life). With Matt, you are paying for quality service. He is professional, has an in-depth knowledge of the anatomy behind the voice as an instrument, knows his music theory (something I take seriously), and his zen-like approach to finding the source of the mental or physical barrier that is preventing you from hitting that true, pure note (and then discovering how to get past that barrier) is highly therapeutic. After a lesson with Matt, I don't want to stop singing! I encourage everyone to at least try a lesson with Matt (I think you can take your first one for free if you go to his site to sign up). You will be amazed at the kind of potential he can bring out of you.

Matt is an amazing vocal coach! He helped me identify the issues with my voice and was really great at communicating what I needed to do to improve. I've worked with over 6 voice teachers and Matt really is one of the best. Would definitely recommend to anyone looking to take voice lessons.

This is my daughter's first experience ever with voice lessons and Matt is an excellent teacher. He is able to accommodate children and adults with his teaching style. My daughter loves him and I have noticed a significant improvement in the power in her voice!

What should the customer know about your pricing (e.g., discounts, fees)?
The first lesson is free so you can check it out and see if the technique works for you. After that, I offer packages of lessons at discount, or you can take a single lesson in half-hour and hour increments. Half hours are $40 and Hours are $80.
What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?
I am certified bi-annually with the Institute for Vocal Advancement and was lucky enough to win the "Rising Star" award from this international organization in 2014.
What advice would you give a customer looking to hire a provider in your area of work?
Experiment. Find the teacher whose personality works best with you. You will learn more from them than the best teacher in the world who you don't get along with.
