Corey did a fantastic job! I was on a time crunch. We have family coming in and our two big dogs destroyed our carpets. I tried to book our regular carpet cleaners but they couldn't fit us in until next week so I turned to Thumbtack. So glad I did! Corey was able to squeeze us in the same day, he did excellent work, he was very professional and his fees were extremely reasonable! The carpets look amazing! Especially the rug in the living room which was $10!! Plus everything was dry in an hour! I was amazed!! We will use him again and we will recommend him to everyone.

We hired Jones Immediate Cleaning Service to do a deep cleaning of my mom's 1-bedroom apartment near downtown SA. My mom is 75 years old and in great need of deep cleaning of her home and carpet. The carpet looked great afterward, and they got through a coating of thick dust on her shelves, and the blinds and fans. The only reason I held back the last star is that there were some delays (since they forgot to load up their deep carpet cleaning material), and a few cobwebs were left in some corners. That said, I do thank them for accommodating our schedule and returning later that day to do the deep carpet cleaning since my mom was going to get new furniture delivered the next day. Thank you!

When my realtor saw the stain on my bedroom carpet, he stated that he didn't think it could be cleaned and should be replaced. After talking to my sister (her husband had had a chemical carpet cleaning franchise years ago) I googled carpet cleaners and gave the job to Carpet Zen. The stain disappeared and my realtor happened to be there and was very impressed and got several cards from Shayne for other clients. Needless to say I loved the results and would highly recommend Carpet Zen.

Chris did an awesome, thorough job on my carpets (5 bedrooms, living area, nook, and stair case). He took the time to do the job right and it shows. The pet stains I once had are completely erased, and the whole house smells fresh and clean. I was on the verge of replacing the carpet, but now with the carpet looking new I can put that project on hold. Chris shared his expert knowledge (20+ years experience) with me at each step. He offered helpful tips to treat future stains myself. When I next get my tile floors cleaned and sealed, I will definitely call this company again. A+

Jeremy's work is first class - he was a professional throughout, provided very clear instructions in a pre-appointment call to help us prep for the carpet and tile cleaning and then during the cleaning appointment he was helpful beyond our expectations (he ended up helping move a few items that really weren't his responsibility to move!). Jeremy's equipment was extremely powerful too and as a result he was able to remove stains that we never thought would be possible to get out of both the tile and the carpet. The overall process and work quality were excellent and very much appreciated.

I am very much satisfied with the service. They are economical, friendly & professional. Though they are not able to remove all the color stains that my kid marked on carpet, they did their best to provide the cleaner carpet to us. They arranged the furniture by themselves to clean full carpet which is very pleasing. They did not change any thing for this furniture movement. I will definitely call them next time.

Hiring Classic Cleaning was a positive experience. Their quote was competitive and they did a very thorough job cleaning my rental for move-out. I especially liked that they do carpet cleaning as well--it was so nice to be able to make one appointment to get both things done. Communicating and scheduling was fine. Edward provided me a quote, set up the appointment, and called me when the crew was on their way out there. He was professional and friendly. After the cleaning I noticed some of our belongings that we'd left after moving out (with the intention to get them later) were left outside in the driveway. The items weren't damaged or anything, so no harm no foul. I let Edward know about this and he said he'd give the feedback to his team immediately. They did a really good job on the house and carpet cleaning, all at a competitive price. I plan on having my new place cleaned a few times a year. I would absolutely hire them again.

Oxifresh did a wonderful job with my carpets. I thought I would clean them myself with one of the cleaners offered at many grocery stores...to no surprise, this left something to be desired. I called them and they got out to my place perfectly as scheduled, took care of my carpets in a timely matter. Shawn was very professional throughout the entire job. I couldn’t be happier! Thank you so much Oxifresh

Q & A

Answers to commonly asked questions from the experts on Thumbtack.

Who cleans area rugs?

Like your carpets, area rugs should ideally be cleaned at least once a year to remove dust and dirt and help them last longer. In general, carpet cleaning professionals also clean area rugs. Some rug cleaners bring their cleaning equipment to your home, while others remove your area rugs and clean them at their facilities. Either way, the rug should be cleaned with the solution most appropriate to its specific fabric and construction. It should also be completely dry before you return it to the floor.

How often should carpets be steam cleaned?

Dirty carpets can be unhealthy for the people living in the home, particularly those who have allergies, so it’s important to have them cleaned regularly; simply vacuuming once or twice a week isn’t enough. Carpet cleaning should be done by a professional carpet cleaning service at least once a year to remove grime and help extend the life of your carpet. Most carpet manufacturers recommend professional steam cleaning, which penetrates deep into the carpet fibers and lifts out both dirt and the pollutants that get tracked inside. Steam cleaning also removes most of the moisture, so carpets dry quickly enough for homeowners to resume using them the same day. Between professional carpet cleanings, your carpet may need an emergency spot cleaning. Pet accidents, food or drink spills, and more can often be effectively cleaned with some water and a drop of white vinegar, although many cleaners will also make house calls for smaller spills and hard-to-clean spots like wine or grease stains.

How much does it cost to clean a rug?

Area rugs are typically found in high-traffic areas of the home, like hallways and entryways, so they collect more dirt and stains than simple vacuuming can handle. Similar to carpet cleaning, professionals can come to your home to deep-clean your area rugs. The national average cost for rug cleaning ranges from $80 to $120, but may be higher or lower depending on the rug’s size and fiber type. Rug cleaners generally charge by the square foot; for example, a standard 8-foot by 10-foot rug costs an average of $100 to clean. Natural fiber rugs, such as wool or silk, are usually more expensive to have cleaned than synthetic rugs. A carpeting cleaning company may charge on average $1.50 per square foot to clean a synthetic rug, $2 per square foot for a wool rug, and $3 per square foot for a silk rug. Some delicate rugs need to be washed by hand, which increases the price. Carpet cleaning companies often offer additional services, such as removing odors or applying moth deterrent, which can add 20 cents to 25 cents per square foot.

How much does it cost to carpet a bedroom?

If you’re building a new home, remodeling, or ready for new carpet in your bedroom, you’ll want to know carpet installation costs. Here are the factors that affect the cost of your new bedroom carpet:

  • Installation cost per square yard: From under $2 to over $6. Carpet companies have a labor cost per square foot for installing your new carpet. Depending on where you live in the country, that rate can vary greatly. This rate does not include the cost of the carpet.
  • Type of carpet: from $1 per square foot to $20 or more per square foot. The fibers that make up your carpet will have a direct effect on cost. As an example, specialty wool carpets may start at about $10 per square foot, while a manufactured fiber like nylon may be about $2 per square foot.
  • Removal of old carpet: from $1 to $4 per square yard. Old carpet is labor-intensive to remove and also costs money to dispose of or recycle. The cost to remove carpet will depend on how much carpet you need removed and whether your installation pros offer a discounted rate for installing your new carpet at the same time.
  • Subfloor repair: from $40 to $70 per hour (plus materials cost). If the flooring underneath your old carpet is damaged, it must be repaired before the new carpet is installed. Many carpet pros can offer this service, or you can hire a handyman to handle the job.
  • Type of carpet pad: $1 per square yard and up, depending on the thickness. The cost to install carpet pad is typically included with the labor cost per yard of installing the carpet itself.

How much is the cheapest carpet?

If you’re looking to reduce carpet installation costs, there are several ways to save. Start by considering your carpeting needs. Manufactured materials such as polyester and nylon will be cheaper than natural fibers such as wool. From big box retailers, starting prices for olefin-based carpet are approximately 50 cents per square foot — making the cost under $5 per square yard. Indoor carpets made with olefin fibers are typically the least expensive on the market. Keep in mind that olefin fibers are not as soft on bare feet as other fibers, so are often used in areas like basements, playrooms or indoor patios. Nylon and polyester are good options to reduce carpet installation costs while still creating a cozy feel. The face weight, fiber construction and density of a carpet all affect the cost per square foot. The cheapest nylon or polyester carpets can start at just under $2 per square foot, making them about $18 per square yard. Lower-cost carpet tends to wear out more quickly and show stains more easily, so avoid light colors and vacuum regularly to keep the fibers clear of dirt that might age it too quickly.
