About
When choosing an editor it pays to have someone with vision, but also someone who can see things from other project members' perspective. I have worked on a multitude projects from pre- to post-work as a writer, director, and editor. I can work alongside producers and directors to make sure that they get the right amount coverage, helping to save money on shooting days and/or having to go in for re-shoots. I enjoy the thought process that goes in before the actual cutting begins. As an undergrad at SAIC, I had the fortune of being able to cut film on a flatbed. I learned that one could not simply start hacking and splicing, you really need to think out the project, how everything is going to come together in the end, from the start to finish, as a cohesive conceptual and narrative whole. It's like writing all over again, which is something I am also deeply passionate about. I love the flexibility editing software provides—diving into the cut right away, experimenting with multiple edits, finding what's right for the piece—but, as a serious editor, I place special importance on seeing the cut before it happens.

FAQs

  • What types of customers have you worked with?

The most common type of work I do for people is editing. Depending on the scope of the project, that work can be as big as doing multiple passes, either by myself or with the director and/or producer, or as little as tightening up a cut or putting together a sizzle or demo reel. I can do my own assistant work as well: import, trans-code, and syncing. I can also provide a base layout for a sound design and do post recording if necessary.
