- How did you get started doing this type of work?
I've been a party planner since I was 16! Growing up I was always the friend who put together birthday parties, graduations and helped with showers. When I studied Public Relations at UT, I was naturally drawn to the events aspect. I continued to help friends with weddings & more upscale events, then my experience in New York with weddings & corporate events on Broadway - I knew as soon as I moved back to Austin I wanted to open up my own business to create events that blow clients away!
- What types of customers have you worked with?
A lot of what I do is social, mostly weddings, birthdays & miscellaneous family parties.
- Describe a recent project you are fond of. How long did it take?
I had this FABULOUS client who called me & wanted me to do decor only - she had the venue & all vendors booked. When I toured the venue it had paint chipping off the walls, water stains on the ceiling from leaks, mismatched chairs and their dimmers for their evening lighting was broken so you could only have florescent lights - which showed every little blimpish in the room. After much deliberation with the hotel GM & many hours of setting up, the room looked amazing! They hadn't fixed all of the issues, but I made sure the lighting was properly taken care of & we got creative with the decor - my client & her daughter were SOO grateful & so happy with the event, it just made my week!
