Arrived on time. The installation went quickly. Did a good job except he didn't put in the lights. Left it open for me to do later. Maybe that's the standard in the garage door industry, but if I'm doing a job, I'm going to complete it.

These guys do an awesome job! I live in Arizona, and had a rental property in Texas that was left a mess, and they were a one-stop shop! They repainted the entire interior, exterior, garage, and garage floor. They also painted bathroom cabinets, refinished bathroom counters, installed new carpet throughout, drywall repairs, landscaping clean-up, and they even did the cleaning. They started work on Monday, and by Thursday we were ready to put the house on the market! Agent said it looks like a brand new home! I'm not one that usually gives reviews online, but I'm very pleased with what they were able to do for me. I would not hesitate to use them again!

I recently had my garage door spring replaced by DFW All Garage Doors. One of my cars was trapped, as the garage door would not open. I was anxious to have the repair completed before the holiday (knowing that it maybe by Friday before repair could be completed), and by luck I found a technician immediately available. The service for repair, pricing (was also competitive), and relevant details were thoroughly explained with upfront estimates, with understandable notion of the need to evaluate the damage before any hard confirming of price. I sent a picture at the technicians request, which I appreciated and that helped firm what the issue was. I should also note that the technician was very friendly and professional. I always appreciate working around those with positive attitudes. I certainly will look to use DFW All Garage doors for any future garage repair needs or service.

The world of painting was extremely professional and courteous. The team sanded and refinished multiple places where my dog had scratched the wood. They painted the walls in the living room & study beautifully - the paint was old and they managed to matched it to perfection. We have a lot of cedar woodwork, ceilings & garage doors outside. Wilfredo & his team did a great job refinishing them. They are dependable, Their prices are very reasonable. You will be very satisfied and happy that you hired them. They even finished off my project of painting the barn free of charge.

Mike did a great job with painting and installing my interior doors. He was very professional when he came out to give me a quote on everything. He also was willing to look at ways to save and for me that was a win win. His communication great with giving me a call or texting me with a updates. I had first went to HomeDepo to order my doors and I was very disappointed that when they came in they were damaged. Mike gave me suggestions on getting my doors from a different supplier and we didn’t have to wait 2-3 weeks to get them in in fact he got them the same day. Mike painted the doors and the looked great. He had a great eye, if something didn’t look right he would confirm with me first before moving forward. I had some closet doors that were not matching up right with the size and he had to make adjustments to them to make them look more in line with my other doors with in the house. He made sure that I received my invoice along with and receipts for the purchase to the doors to the door knobs.

To say this man is awesome is an understatement! He came and gave me a free estimate to paint the exterior of my home. He and his team power washed, caulked any gaps, sanded, and painted. I am so happy with the way my home turned out! It looks so good. Side note: about 45 minutes after he and his team left my house, one of the neighborhood kids ran into my garage door with his bike and scuffed and scratched the paint. I texted Darren to see how I get it off. When I tried to remove it, the scuff smeared. He came by early this morning to fix the paint job, free of cost!! I am definitely hiring him to paint my interior walls!!

I would really recommend this remodeling company to any body needing any kind of work around their home. I called to get a quote to convert my garage into a bedroom with bathroom and also needed renovations in my kitchen. I called for a quote and they came out that same day. Very helpful and even gave me some advice to save a quick buck in the process. It didn't take long before they were starting to remodel. They kept me updated every step of the way and I really appreciate it. I loved the communication. Really happy with the final result. Nice family owned business. Will use them again.

Had great service. He was very straightforward. I had the information to make decision for what was best for me. He reset the door for a lot less than the competitors. The garage door is working a lot better. It's more quiet and smoother. Very happy. Will use their services again for sure.

Jeff listened to my concerns with the uneven gap that remained when the garage was down which would invite pests esp with the colder months. He quickly and precisely assessed the situation and adjusted the entire system to remedy this problem. Reliable! Intelligent! Professional! Problem-solving at its finest! When I thanked him he said his goal is to create "value" for all his customers.....I think he's inVALUABLE!!! In just under a week I have given his name out to several of my friends and neighbors. Thanks Jeff...will be calling you when I need the new motor!

Q & A

Answers to commonly asked questions from the experts on Thumbtack.

How do you fix a broken garage door?

Garage door problems don’t have to mean the end of the world. Garage door repair is typically a one-day process and can be done for only a few hundred dollars. Common garage door repair requests include fixing slow or erratic garage doors, addressing strange sounds coming from the garage door or motor, fixing cosmetic damage such as dents or scrapes, repairing broken doors that are stuck open or closed, and troubleshooting inoperable doors.

The two main garage door operating mechanisms are sectional roll-ups or tilt-ups. Garage door repair services can fix single-car, double-car or RV-height doors. Your garage door may be made of wood, steel, aluminum, masonite, vinyl, fiberglass or another material. The type of garage door repair you need really depends on the type of garage door you have and the issue at hand. Garage door repair pros often charge a flat service call fee to diagnose the problem and provide an estimate. For customers who choose to have the repair done, the service call fee may be applied to the first hour of labor (including time to make the diagnosis). If your garage door is under warranty, the repair may be free of charge.

Who repairs garage doors?

Garage door repair is a specialized job, which is typically handled by a garage door repair service. Professional garage door repair technicians can test or repair a garage door system and fix cosmetic blemishes on doors. Common requests include help with jammed or inoperable doors, slow or erratic doors, unusual sounds, dents or scrapes on the door, and general system testing. Garage door repair professionals can work on single-car, double-car and RV-size garage doors.

How do you choose a garage door?

When garage door repair isn’t an option — perhaps the current door is beyond fixing or you want to upgrade to a quieter, more energy-efficient model — it’s time to buy a new one. But choosing a garage door is not as simple as it sounds, even when you know the right size for your home. A wide range of materials, styles and finishes are available, and each factor influences the cost. Garage doors are made of aluminum, steel, vinyl, fiberglass, masonite, wood (typically cedar or mahogany), or a composite of several materials. They may be insulated against cold or heat. Traditional and modern styles include raised panel, carriage house or crossbuck. Most styles have window or arch options, and are available in different wood finishes and neutral colors. Because garage doors account for a large part of a home’s exterior, their appearance is usually a homeowner’s top priority. An attractive garage door can increase a home’s curb appeal and resale value.

How much does garage door repair cost?

When a garage door goes off the track, the spring breaks, the door is dented or the garage door opener is on the fritz, a professional garage door repair specialist can help. The cost to have a garage door fixed varies, but the national average cost of garage door repair is $70-$110. The extent of the damage and the size and material of the door will affect the final cost. A garage door repair company generally charges a national average of $80 for a service call, which includes the first hour of labor and service, such as testing and inspecting the garage door and opener. Apart from labor, the garage door repair costs hinge on buying replacements parts. For example, a new spring costs an average of $60. Expect to pay several hundred dollars, though, if the door is beyond repair; a new garage door ranges in price from $200 to $4,000, and most homeowners spend an average of $800-$1,200.

How much does it cost to install a new garage door opener?

Your new garage door opener cost will vary based on the model you purchase and how long installation takes. Typically, installation pros charge by the hour, although if the pro is also selling the garage door opener they may have a flat fee for the product with installation. The national average for new garage door opener costs (with installation) is between $390 and $650, although the national average cost for the opener purchased alone may be in the $150-$300 range. The three most common types of openers are chain-drive, screw-drive and belt-drive. The chain-drive costs the least but makes the most noise. The belt-drive is typically the quietest and the most expensive. You can expect to pay about the same amount for installation for any of the three styles. The lifespan of a garage door opener is approximately 10 years, depending on quality. A pro may provide opener repairs for the cost of their service call fee or they may charge a flat fee, such as $100 for opener repair. Here are some examples of new garage door opener average costs, including installation:

  • Contractor-grade garage door opener with installation: $300.
  • Chain-drive opener with installation and one remote: $350.
  • Belt-drive opener with installation and two remotes: $400
  • Top-of-the-line opener with ¾-horsepower battery backup, belt drive and nearly soundless operation: $475
    • The majority of higher-end garage door openers are “smart” products and will connect via app to your smartphone for remote access.
