We used Antonio's services for cutting a tree and fixing my fence. Antonio's team did a great job putting up a new backyard fence and cutting the tree. He was very professional, courteous and got the job done despite of the rainy weather. I really liked the quality of work he provided both the times.

Tafoya's tree services was not the best price, only by a few dollars, but went with them due to Nestor's professionalism, honesty and their insurance policy. REALLY GLAD I choose Tafoya. This job was done in a very timely mannor and couldn't be more happier to have used them for my tree removal and pruning. I will recommend them to everyone I know looking for this service. GREAT JOB!

Oscar came out to install some catch basins, a drainage pipe, and rock to help move standing water away from the back side of our home. He was punctual, thoroughly explained how they accomplished the job, and affordable. The end result was exactly what we were looking for and we wouldn't hesitate to hire All-Pro for future projects.

I don't normally get a chance to write these kind of things, nor do I necessarily check all categories as "strengths", but I'm honored to provide a reference for Mr. Servin and Servin's Tree Service. His company was referred to be by a dear and trusted friend. He removed a large oak tree for 4 x's less the price I was quoted by an arborist. The job was started promptly (in fact, he and his crew arrived early), and he finished in 5 hours. You would not even know I had a 30ft tree in front of my house after being cut, and the stump was grinded down. Mr. Servin's crew was professional, extremely efficient, hard working and kind. They cut the tree down and cut and stacked fire wood for my neighbor and for me (above and beyond, in my opinion). From the very first call to the final hand shake, this gentleman and his company were AMAZING. I not only highly recommend this company, but plan to use him for any and all of my future tree work. Thanks for an outstanding job, Mr. Servin!

Great customer service! We arranged for Clyde to come even though we were at work and he took before and after pictures. He then asked if we were satisfied and based on feedback made the tree trimming job perfect! We had branches over the roof we wanted gone for safety, and now it looks great!

I highly recommend The J Team Tree Service. After looking around & finding them on Facebook. I hired The J Team to trim my trees because the branches were falling & creating a hazardous situation (I have two young children). I was very impressed not only with the quality of their work but their professionalism. The J Team arrived on-time, did an amazing job; they were safe, the price was right & they cleaned up everything afterwards! Also, I found out the company is owned & operated by a Military Veteran. I'm always happy to help our Veterans 🇺🇸

Hired for 4 projects. Take down two hazardous trees, landscape removal, landscape debris removal, and finally lower tree branch trimming. Overall everything went well. Andrew stuck to his quote and was fair in the work. He seems to know a good chuck on tree types as well and enjoys his work. Note: You do need patience in start times and in total work time completion so the only thing I wouldn't recommend is if you have a large project and you have a tight deadline. Will rehire.

Daniel was outstanding! his price, punctuality and knowledge is amazing. We are hiring him to prune all of our trees after he did such a great job removing the stumps that the last company never came back to grind after they cut them down. We highly recommend him for a tree care needs.

Q & A

Answers to commonly asked questions from the experts on Thumbtack.

What does a landscape contractor do?

Landscape contractors work from outdoor architectural or design plans to build and install hardscaping or softscaping for the client, much as a general contractor uses architectural designs to build a house. Landscape contractors are experts in soil drainage, grading, hardscaping (installing concrete paths and retaining wall, building ponds, etc.), and planting. They have heavy equipment such as excavators and tractors to prepare the land as needed.

Some landscape contractors are also landscape architects or landscape designers. The titles can be compared with those in home construction: A building or landscape architect must earn a specialized architecture degree and pass an exam to have a license. A designer — whether an interior designer or a landscape designer — does not usually require a license to work. Landscape contractors are not required by law to work from plans designed by a landscape architect, so you may work directly with the landscape contractor to specify the work you’d like done. The national average cost for large-scale landscaping projects is $10,160. Pricing can vary greatly depending on the project scope, materials and design.

How do you find a good landscape architect?

Hiring a landscape architect is an investment in your home. Landscaping can reduce water bills, improve your home resale value, add to your daily living experience and significantly boost curb appeal. A landscape architect will draw the designs for your new landscape; you’ll want to hire a landscape contractor to carry out the plans. Many companies provide design-build landscaping services, with a company architect creating plans for your vision and the landscape contractor executing the vision. With the proper academic background and licensing, a person can be both landscape architect and landscape contractor. Here are a few tips for finding a great landscape architect:

  • Research online portfolios and find several landscape architects whose work interests you.
  • Read online reviews of client experiences.
  • Research whether the landscape architects you are interested in are currently licensed and in good standing with the licensing board, and check whether any complaints have been issued against them. Each state will have their own searchable database. For example, you can search for California landscape architects via the state’s Department of Consumer Affairs.
  • Request bids from your selected landscape architects.
  • Hire the one you like the most, taking care to have a clearly written contract outlining scope of work.

What should you look for when hiring a landscaper?

Landscaping can be costly — though it usually pays off in curb appeal and home resale value — so finding a landscaper who is worth the investment is important. When hiring a landscaper, look for proven success with the type of results you want. For example, if you know you want a drought-tolerant yard, research websites, reviews and portfolios that showcase beautiful drought-tolerant yards that the landscaper has installed. In addition to relevant experience, you’ll want to find a landscape contractor who has good client reviews. Good communication skills are another important quality in a landscape contractor, since everything from plant selection to hardscape installation needs to be discussed and agreed upon. A landscape contractor who is reliable, easy to understand and able to listen to what you want will help make the process seamless and enjoyable.

Hire skilled professionals for absolutely everything.
