Yancy repaired d refinished a 60 year old maple table and the top to a server that had a terrible ring on the top. He came the day following my request, provided a quotaion, answered all of my questions and picked up the pieces for repair few days later. He returned two lovely pieces of furniture. We selected Artistic Restoration to restore our bedroom set that got damaged by water during the February freeze. Thumbtack listed reviews of Artistic Restorations by several satisfied customers, who praised responsiveness and professionalism above all. I gave them a call, and next day Yancey came to our house as promised to evaluate the damage. He seemed to be very knowledgeable and honest. He described in great details the work that needed to be done and gave us an estimate. Since our bedroom needed to be empty of furniture when the carpet was installed, Yancey agreed to store our furniture for several days prior to the beginning of his work. What is your typical process for working with a new customer?
Our typical process is to come and inspect the furniture(for free) to be repaired/restored to get a better idea of what the furniture needs, and what your expectations are for your furniture relative to your budget. There is no possible way to get the story of your furniture through photos. The most accurate of estimates should be done in person. This is why our motto is "We come to you".
What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?
My training was with furniture repair craftsmen that have been doing the work over 30 years each. I worked with them 10 years before I branched out on my own. Which I was encouraged to do by them.
How did you get started doing this type of work?
I learned furniture repair from a close friend of mine that has a lifetime of experience. He started doing this work when he was 7. I started this work when I was 22.
