I could not be happier with my choice to go with Daniela. There were a lot of choices to pick from since I received several quotes through Thumbtack. Daniela was prompt with her responses and outlined her prices clearly. On the day of the event she arrived on time and was ready to work. She is very personable and easy to get along with. Although I didn't really have any makeup looks to show her, she was able to listen to my requests and create a beautiful look for me and my sister. My makeup looked beautiful especially since I got false lashes applied. The lashes were very high quality and felt very light. You could hardly feel them. The lashes were applied very well and stayed well on through the night. Although the lashes are an extra charge, it is well worth it as they are premium quality and re-useable. Daniela also uses high quality makeup such as MAC Cosmetics. She was very informative throughout the whole process and even gave some tips on makeup application, lash application/removal, and false lash care (since she gave me re-useable ones). Daniela is also very open and accommodating to making any changes if you are unhappy with anything. She wants you to feel and look beautiful. My only regret is that I don't live in Dallas, because I'm missing out on always getting my makeup done by Daniela for every event!

I have to tell ya, after reading the previous reviews before mine.... I feel so proud to call lauren my makeup artist. I found her way back when she was working for Bobbi Brown Cosmetics, I came as a random mom who just needed to be shown how to refresh my looking. I was assigned to Lauren, and she’s been more than just a makeup artist to me from that day forward. Not only did she do my wedding makeup a few months ago when I had a destination wedding in Miami..... but she also started doing my lash extensions here is Dallas. You can’t trust just anyone to work so closely to your eyes, it’s such a high risk! But lauren is a professional and certified in everything she does. You can tell this young woman has passion beyond belief. You will certainly love her! She’s the right choice for you!

As a person who has been in the fashion and beauty world for over a decade, I have encountered many makeup companies/products (big and small), and have absolutely NEVER had quite the positive overall experience I had with Velma and VPCosmetics. From a professional aspect, this company operates on a 5 star level with timeliness, professionalism, and and obvious devotion to their customer's needs. Whatever you need- they make it happen and exceed any expectations one has. The products... Oh my my, the PRODUCTS!! While I haven't tried them ALL, I most certainly plan to, as everything I've tried/bought is fantastic! The bb cream gives my skin a flawless glow (sometimes I just wear that as my day time look), and the Vitamin C peel seems to magically preserve my youth (no more Botox). The makeup feels like butter and actually LASTS. I could go on and on!! Bottom line- this company has all the elements needed for it to be a success, and I'd recommend it to everyone in a heart beat. Thank you VPCosmetics-you ROCK!!

Venue This place is absolutely amazing! It's very upscale and elegant here and I was really WOWED by OOPY Glam Studio's suite and its décor. It's simply breathtaking!!! The awesome wall of fairy lights, gorgeous chandelier, ton of lit tea lights and low-level music sets the mood for any service. There's also a quaint make-up corner for you to get any makeup service with their pro cosmetics line, and if that's not enough, the Studio offers microblading, waxing and Xtreme eye lash extensions too! Darchele 'OOPY' Erskine Darchele is the greatest esthetician ever!!! She is warm, very friendly, very knowledgeable, answered all my questions and made me feel comfortable. She gives an amazing facial along with an awesome massage! I had the OOPY Microdermabrasion Facial and my results are nothing short of AMAZING!!! I also got waxed with hard wax for the first time and I love my results! 5 stars is not enough for this studio. It's now my 'go to' every time I am in Dallas. You must get a service, two or three!!!

I truly have a passion for makeup and to make people feel amazing about themselves!

About

I studied the art of haircutting, hairstyling, hair coloring and skincare at Paul Mitchell Dallas. I am available for any beauty needs, from hairstyling to makeup application. I am certified in eyelash extensions as well. I am certified in airbrush makeup application. Airbrush makeup is sprayed onto the skin with a light mist with minimal use of brushes or sponges. The high-definition formulation covers acne, spots, blemishes, rosacea, tattoos, and uneven skin tones, and it is great for close-ups, weddings, proms, and all-day events. It is non-comedogenic and hypoallergenic, meaning that it won't clog pores or cause oily buildup in pores. The application is lightweight and long-lasting (up to 24 hours), so no need for touch-ups other than to blot powder.

Q & A

Answers to commonly asked questions from the experts on Thumbtack.

How do you choose the right makeup artist for your wedding?

A wedding makeup artist can ensure a flawless look on your big day. Finding the perfect person isn’t all about price, though. Here are tips for choosing the right makeup artist for your wedding:

  • Research before reaching out. Wedding makeup artists should have an online presence with portfolios of their work. Find someone with an aesthetic you love.
  • Read reviews. You want a wedding makeup artist who’ll be on time, do beautiful work, and add a positive vibe to your day. Pay attention if previous clients report bad experiences with a makeup artist.
  • Consider skin tones. If your bridal party has a range of skin tones, make sure your wedding makeup artist and assistants are experienced and talented working with everyone.
  • Is your top pick available on your date? If so, put down a deposit to secure their services.
  • Confirm rates and payment. Clearly discuss prices and payment plans, and sign a detailed contract so there are no surprises on your wedding day.

Do I need a makeup artist for my wedding?

There are no rules around your wedding day, and that means it’s your choice whether to have a wedding makeup artist. If you’re on the fence about hiring a wedding makeup artist, consider the pros and cons. Some women decide against a wedding makeup artist to save money. The national average cost for a wedding makeup artist is $70-$100, which is an expense some women prefer to do without. Other women just don’t love wearing makeup. Some brides have friends or family members who are talented makeup artists willing to provide their services. If you choose not to have a wedding makeup artist, be sure to do at least two trial runs of your makeup look well before the wedding day to avoid any morning-of panic.

On the other hand, a wedding makeup artist can make the bride feel pampered and confident, giving her a flawless, fabulous look for the ceremony and reception and in wedding photos. For brides who are uncomfortable with heavy makeup, many wedding makeup artists usually excel at the natural look. Many brides consider wedding makeup part of the ritual and tradition of the ceremony, a shared experience with the entire bridal party. Ultimately your choice of whether to hire a wedding makeup artist should be based on what will make you feel most confident and happy.

How much should you tip a wedding makeup artist?

Wedding makeup artists ensure you and your bridal party are looking your best bright and early on your wedding day. Tipping a wedding makeup artist for their hard work is standard practice, and is also greatly appreciated. A tip of 15 percent to 20 percent of the total bill is appropriate. You may consider tipping extra if the makeup artist or someone on their team went above and beyond — for example, squeezing in Aunt Martha at the last second or redoing a flower girl’s hair free of charge after she dunked it in the fountain.

A gratuity is a reflection of a job well done, so if the wedding makeup artist was late, did a shoddy job or didn’t provide all the services you negotiated, you are not required to tip. Talk with your wedding makeup artist prior to the event to ask how they prefer payment and gratuity to be handled. Can you pay by credit card the day of the event and include a tip then? Do you need to pay in cash the day of the event? Find out ahead of time how to manage payment for services so you can be prepared with cash or credit cards as needed. Even better, delegate the task of payment to someone in your bridal party so you can just enjoy your day.

How much do wedding makeup artists cost?

A wedding means love, celebration and tons of wedding photos. Professional wedding makeup artists have you looking your best on your big day and forever after in your wedding photos. The national average cost for a wedding makeup artist is $70-$100, although this price can increase based on your location, the extent of the makeup services and the reputation of the makeup artist. Most wedding makeup artists offer discounts to brides who book group services for their maids, mothers and flower girls at the same time. Wedding makeup artists who also do wedding hair usually offer package rates for hair and makeup combos. Here are some examples of average wedding makeup pricing:

  • Bridal makeup: $85-$125. Pricing often includes full face, eyes, lips, brows and false eyelashes. Airbrush makeup may be an additional $20 or more.
  • Bridal hair and makeup: $150-$200.
  • Bridesmaid and bridal party makeup: $50-$100 per person.
  • Bridesmaid hair and makeup: $100-$150.
  • Flower girl makeup: $25-$35.
  • Trial sessions: $60-$120, depending on the makeup artist. Some charge their full rate and others charge a partial rate for trial makeup services.
  • Hourly rates to stay on and keep makeup touched up throughout reception: $35-$75 per hour.
  • Travel fees: 50 cents to $1 per additional mile beyond a set radius — such as 50 miles.
