Showed up on-time and dressed professional. Supported a two home move where we had to move from two locations to one. Were very fast. They sent three guys for a 800 square feet apartment. No items were damaged. At our new home they also unloaded our cars full of items we didn't want on the truck. Once they were finished they asked us if there was anything we wanted moved in the house to different rooms. They didn't round up like many companies when it was 3 minutes over the hour. I plan to use them again.

My spouse and I had never hired movers before and were a little hesitant about how comfortable the process would be to have strangers in our home moving our belongings, but Trey and Rodolfo at Blue Mule Movers made the entire process easy and pleasant. The price was VERY competitive and allowed us to move without asking all our friends to give up their weekend. Other than letting them know what had to go vs. stay and where we wanted our belongings unloaded, they were able to get the move facilitated without us having to be directly involved. All our items were carefully wrapped with blankets and plastic before being moved and they took extra precautions to make sure the walls and floors were not damaged in the process. They never took a break or stood around/sat down, which was amazing considering the amount of hours we needed them. If I have to ever move again I will call Blue Mule Movers and ask for Trey and Rodolfo!

Adam, Lugo, AJ and Juan are The Very Best Movers I've ever had!!! They went non-stop, no one was a smoker, so there wasn't 50 smoke breaks an hour....they didn't break or damage anything.....they were fast and careful....and they were all so very thoughtful, courteous and kind....no attitudes at all and believe me, nothing I hate more than having a mover in my home moving my stuff with an attitude.....They all have very big hearts!!! 😀👍

Thomas and his team at Elite Movers did a great job with our move. We were moving from a house in Plano to a house in Fate. Thomas' team showed up at our storage facility on time and worked quickly. From there, we moved to the house, packed up the rest, and headed to our new home. Elite Movers did an excellent job in handling our items with care and were able to move everything quickly and efficiently. I would recommend Elite Movers to anyone in the Metroplex looking for top notch, quality movers. We've used many others in the past, but Thomas Morgan and his team were by far our favorites.

We greatly enjoyed using A to Z's moving service! They were extremely responsive and punctual throughout the entire process. We had a lot of things in both storage and our apartment to which we were moving to our home, and the workers were very patient with us and the time it took, and most importantly, very careful with our belongings. We highly recommend this company!

This is one of the best moving experiences I have ever had! (And we all know moving is NO FUN, its Stressful and things usually go wrong) But not with Red Carpet Moving Co. Elijah is very professional and very efficient. His crew moves swift but carefully....They are very conscience of time and they are very patient! Elijah communicates very well and he listens to what you need done. My move was from a 3 story town home with two stops going to a storage and a home. The move from the town home involved taking items of mine while other roommates who were not moving had items staying, so only certain items were going on the truck. I only had to communicate with Eli once about what was going where. If and when I have to move..... I will only call these guys! Thank you Eli & crew for making this such a great experience!

The crew showed up early, were very polite and professional and even took the time to make my 19 month old son feel comfortable around them asy were moving all his stuff out of his room! Great guys! Although the move did take longer than expected and cost a bit more because of that, I would still recommend them to anyone! They had plenty of furniture covers, straps, and even extra packing tape to make sure everything was taken care of and packed correctly. Thank you for getting us into our new home!

Easy process to set up. The two bellhops contacted me before and showed up on time. My only complaints are that it is a little bit pricey. $120 for 10-15 min of work moving two couches from downstairs to upstairs seems too much. And then when they moved the couch upstairs they put a hole through my wall....which was the primary reason I wanted to hire professionals instead of doing it myself.

Mona Lisa moving is one of the best moving company I ever hired. They did however qouted me wrong but quite honestly they charged me a very reasonable price. I do agree they qouted me quite low for the job it took to move my stuff at first so it was very fair they charged me more later. They care about my furniture very much. I have a 5000$+ bed and dresser which they took the time and care to move it. They wrapped it good and even took it apart and assemble it for me. Very nice people and easy to work with. Moving is big stress and headaches. Save yourself the trouble and hire the professional Mona Lisa moving company. You will not be dissapointed. My furniture arrived looking like they did before. Thanks again Mona Lisa! Oh and they come with a spanking new huge moving truck. You know how most moving company come in a bang up sqeeking truck? Not them! Will use them again if I ever need to move anything.

Hired Guidance Moving to move our business office to a new location. A team of 3 showed up and got right to work. They quickly disassembled our desks and wrapped them for transport. They were all very polite, hard working professionals. I often worry about such services when there is an hourly rate involved as people sometimes "milk the clock" but not these guys! They did not slow down until the job was finished. Everything was handled perfectly. The rate was great and the quality of work was exceptional. If you are looking for movers, look no further, these are your guys! I will hire them again in the future!

My goal was to move furniture from one storage facility to another residential location. Oasis showed up on time and picked up the furniture promptly. They did not however move the furniture to the exact spot I wanted as it didn't fit through the door. They don't disassemble anything and kept saying they had to leave so I didn't get one key furniture in its spot. They should have told me they don't disassemble anything up front, as other moving companies have offered that without me asking. I had filled out thumbtack stating I needed things moved upstairs and when I asked to move something upstairs to oasis they said that wasn't on the invoice. I never got an invoice so I didn't know what they were taking about, and I would not have gone with them if I knew they didn't want to move things upstairs. They reluctantly moved the furniture upstairs after I prompted them to. I tried to get them to wait as I would disassemble the furniture and then they would move it, as it would have only taken around twenty minutes to disassemble. They would have gotten paid more if they waited but they said they needed to leave so now I'm stuck with heavy furniture in a location I can't move. My advice to consumers who choose oasis: push for the invoice and be clear on what you want done in your chat and make sure the company and you sign off on some sort of documentation. Oasis also tried to charge me a service fee for gas, and I specifically asked them up front if they had service fees (which they said no). I went with them because they had good reviews and didn't have any hidden fees (or so I thought). All in all I'm not the happiest consumer right now.

Derrick's Moving Service was a life saver! I haaaaate moving soooooo much, and as a single mom with 3 kids and a huge house, it's just impossible to do on my own. I found Derrick's Moving Service through a search and they actually gave me an in home estimate for free!!! They do it for everybody, but hey, I have enough on my plate, and that helped me so much. He came through with a checklist and tallied up everything and walked me through all of my best options. Let me tell you OMG the price was right! But most importantly, the move was by far the best part. I didn't have to do anything besides pack my clothes! They took apart all of our beds, they wrapped up some things with a plstic security wrap, and they did everything I'm just not physically able (or mentally prepared) prepared to do. I tipped them for sure because the price was much less than what they're worth. Soooo happy! Give them a shot!

Q & A

Answers to commonly asked questions from the experts on Thumbtack.

What do moving companies do?

Moving companies provide a range of services to help you physically move out of one residence and move into a new place. But moving companies can do so much more than just haul your belongings across town in a truck. The national average for moving company prices ($250-$350 per hour) reflects the range of services provided. Here are examples of all the ways moving companies can help:

  • Packing: Moving companies can pack your belongings for you. They typically charge a flat rate for both the box and the labor to pack the box. The more time-consuming the belongings are to pack, the higher the cost per box. For example, books could be $5 per box, linens $10 per box, and fine china and glassware $18 per box.
  • Specialty moving: Safely move a baby grand piano, a oversize aquarium, or other specialty items with the help of pro movers.
  • Storage: Many moving companies can store your belongings while you wait for a new home to be remodeled or closing of your new home to be finalized. If you’re moving long-distance, they often provide short-term storage free for a specific length of time, and a set rate after that (such as $60 per square cubic foot of storage space used).
  • Long-distance moves: No need to rent a trailer and move your things; a long-distance moving company can haul your belongings across the country for you. Typically they charge by the cubic foot for moves, with prices based on your destination.
  • Unpacking: Moving companies can even unpack your belongings for you after they have moved them. This is not as common, and will definitely increase the price, but can be helpful if you’re not able to tackle this task yourself.

How much does a moving company charge per hour?

When you’re ready to make a major move, it’s time to research moving companies’ prices. A moving company may charge on average anywhere between $25 and $100 per hour, per worker, for moving services. The price will vary with regional labor rates, local cost to do business, and the level of service the movers are providing. Nationally, the average hourly rate for a moving company is $250-$350 per hour. This price includes a range of pricing, from all-in service with four or more movers on site to standard hourly rates for one or two movers. Other factors that affect moving companies’ prices are packing, stairs (or elevators), and distance. For a full-service move, you pay movers to pack your belongings for you. You may pay for the cost of the moving boxes and an hourly rate per worker, and there may be additional charges for packing fragile items. Stairs will also add to your moving prices. Lifting and carrying boxes and furniture up and down stairs takes more time and creates more physical labor for the workers. Moving companies may charge flat rates for flights of stairs, such as $50-$70 per flight. A moving company may also charge a one-time fee for moving things via elevator, such as $75-$100. If parking is not accessible in front of your home or apartment building, there may also be an additional fee for the added distance to carry your belongings to the truck.

How much does it cost for long-distance movers?

Long-distance movers transport your belongings across the country for you. No more renting a trailer and road-tripping from state to state with your entire house hitched to your bumper. Long-distance movers make the move happen so you can fly to your new home, suitcase in hand, and wait for your furniture to arrive. Nationally, the average price range for long-distance movers is $1,490-$2,230. The distance you are moving and the number of cubic feet the movers have to transport will both affect cost. Another factor in long-distance moving costs is whether you choose to pay for an exclusive move or a consolidated move.

In an exclusive move, which is more expensive, your belongings are the only cargo on the moving truck. The movers travel directly to your new house and deliver your belongings on a scheduled day. A consolidated move is more affordable because the movers transport your belongings along with those of other people, saving them time and gas — which means you save money. The downside is that your belongings typically arrive with a two-week delivery window rather than on a prescheduled day. Read reviews to make sure you can trust the company with your possessions to ensure a peaceful moving process.

How much does it cost to move a one-bedroom apartment across the country?

Professional movers can handle the hard work of moving your one-bedroom apartment across the country for you. You can determine what your move will cost by learning the rate your movers charge per cubic foot and how they factor distance into the total cost. Cross-country movers typically charge based on your belongings rather than apartment size because that determines how much work they will have to do. For example, a studio apartment that is crammed full of things will take more work and moving truck space than the contents of a three-bedroom apartment with very little furniture.

Cross-country movers may also have varying rates, depending on where in the country you are moving. For example, a company may charge $5 per cubic foot for consolidated moves along the East Coast and $6 per cubic foot for consolidated moves from the East Coast to the central states or the West Coast. A one-bedroom apartment costs approximately $1,500 to move across the country.

How much does it cost to move across the country?

The national average cost for hiring cross-country movers is $1,490-$2,220. A number of factors can affect the cost. One factor is the distance you want to move. For example, an East Coast-based moving company may charge $5 per cubic foot for consolidated moves along the East Coast and $6 per cubic foot for consolidated moves from the East Coast to the central states or the West Coast. Another factor is how many belongings you have. Most cross-country movers charge by the cubic foot.

The type of move you want is another consideration in cost. You can have your belongings moved exclusively and delivered on a set day, or you can opt for a consolidated move, which is less expensive. In a consolidated move your belongings are stored and transported with the goods of other customers who are moving to your general vicinity during the same general time frame as you. Your belongings should arrive within a one- to two-week window, rather than on a set day. If you want the cross-country movers to pack your belongings for you, the cost will also increase.
