We offer a stand-up comedy workshop for beginners or those who want to improve their writing and performance skills. We have 8 classes that teach how to create original stand-up comedy material and how to perform to achieve maximum results onstage. At the end of the 8 classes, you will perform in a showcase held at the Addison Improv.

I had no clue how to do stand up before taking Dean's class but quickly I learned the process and structure so when I went on stage I was comfortable and got plenty of laughs. Dean is a patient coach and wants each student to be successful. Even if you don't have a dream of stand up and just want to improve your presentations skills this workshop will make you better in your professional life.

I've taken several courses with different comedy coaches and I've never learned more than in Dean Lewis various workshops. You will likely never write more and you will absolutely write better. The bonding with your fellow comics through giving and receiving of feedback with Dean right there to fine tune it all and help it make sense is an added bonus. He doesn't pull any punches nor accept any excuses. If you're going to take the class be prepared to do the work and definitely be prepared to grow both as a writer and performer.

Dean is an amazing stand up teacher. Whether you want to learn the basics of stand up or just up your game in stand up, he is the perfect teacher. He promotes a collaborative, safe, and fun environment: He is an accomplished comedian. He has won an Emmy, performed on the Ellen Show, and has helped many other accomplished comedians get their start. Because of Dean, I am a better comedian. I know how to write a good joke and perform with confidence in front of a crowd. Work with Dean! You will not regret it!
