I'm very impressed with the company's professional courtesy and prompt responses to all my inquires. We've now hired a pet-sitter for next month's service and I'm sure Melissa will do a great job for my baby as during the interviews my extrovert kitty instantly took a liking to her soon-to-be sitter!

    About this pro

We are entering our 22nd year of business. This is what we do full-time. Most of the team of sitters have been with Society Pet Sitter, Inc. from 1-12 years. We run thorough background checks on every sitter and interview each one before they are hired. We are bonded and insured as well. In this profession, you have to have a passion for animals. I personally have had that all of my life. Now in my career, what I love the most is knowing that we are helping out each pet owner in his/her daily life. We have several doctors who we pet sit for. When they are called in to do a heart transplant at 3:00 a.m. and send a text asking for us to do a breakfast visit for their pets, we are able to jump in and ensure their babies are taken care of. It's more than just a job; it feels like we're giving back.

      Q & A

      • What is your typical process for working with a new customer?
We set up an initial meet and greet so that the client can meet their sitters and show them their pet's routine. We assign a primary and a back-up sitter, just in case the primary is out for any reason, the client has already met the back-up and can step right in to take care of their fur babies.
      • How did you get started doing this type of work?
When I first started this business there were only 3 pet sitting companies in Dallas. No one had even heard of pet sitting. I was working at a local veterinarian as a tech. Some of the dogs and cats did okay in the kennel situation. Most did not. The most that did not really should have been at home.
      • What types of customers have you worked with?
What we do the most of are daily dog walks, as well as vacation clients. We work with all kinds of professionals that work long hours and can't make it home to take the dog out for a potty break and some exercise.
