Choosing Harry Stein to repair my computer was one of the best decisions I've ever made! I discovered Harry approximately three weeks ago after someone from another company had supposedly fixed it which turned out not to be true; forcing me to find another computer technology service person. Upon contacting Thumbtack, I received numerous messages and quotes from computer technicians, including Harry Stein, who, by the way, was one of the very first to contact me. After listening to his voicemail message, I felt quite certain that he was the one I wanted to work on my computer. I got the feeling that he was someone I could trust and that he was very experienced and knowledgeable about all things pertaining to computers. A conversation followed which confirmed my instincts, and I was right! Harry's knowledge, experience, professionalism, and communication skills amazed me! He remotely took control of my computer and started making changes that were effective immediately. He was extremely fast, focused, accurate, thorough, and very detailed. Harry changed settings; added and deleted apps and programs as necessary, and explained reasons for doing so as he went along; educating me more than anyone else ever had. It was an exciting process for me to see all the improvements before my very eyes. As he continued working, my computer got better and better and I was able to get stations and channels that I wasn't able to log into previously. Throughout my years in business I've had several "computer geeks" tend to my computer who I thought were the best, but Harry Stein out-shined them all! I cannot imagine finding anyone who can compare to him! Harry is definitely a computer wizard in all aspects! This review wouldn't be fully complete without mentioning costs and fees, which were another thing that shocked me about my experience with Harry! He quoted me a fee of $75.00 and stuck to it without even a hint of asking for more. He mentioned that he really doesn't do this for the money, but more-so for the joy and gratification he gets from helping people just like me who are frazzled and frustrated with nowhere to turn for assistance. With his qualifications, time spent, fantastic work he did, and the manner in which he performed, he could have justifiably charged several hundred dollars and deserved every bit of it. I can't say enough about how pleased I am with the performance of my computer - thanks to Harry Stein! I can only promise you that when you hire him to fix your computer, you'll be very glad you did!
Arrived as planned and spent an hour taking care of the Wireless computer issue. Everything seems to be working fine and wireless connection seems to have been taken care off. he is very pleasant to deal with.

Kyle came to my house to run the diagnostics on my computer. I was not able to log in to my Microsoft based desktop computer at all. Within an hour he had my computer up and running, ran his malware and determined that everything was fine. He knows what he is doing. I will definitely use him again for anything computer related.
John Hainley of Independent Computer Consultant recovered the data from my dead external hard drive. He was very clear and upfront about cost and scheduling. He kept me updated as he worked on my project. Although John commented on the large quantity of files to be recovered, he did not try to increase the quoted price. I will have no hesitation contacting John Hainley if I need a computer consultant in the future.

John took my computer while I was away on vacation with family. He continually contacted me when there was a question or concern and kept me updated, daily as the progress continued. Initially, I had taken my laptop to Fry's and was confused by all of the problems they said I had. While at Fry's I met John, who was a customer, and he asked me what the problem was with my laptop. He indicated that, if I went with Fry's quote, I needed to ensure that they did not charge me for another copy of Windows 7 because it was already installed on my laptop and could be reinstalled after fixing or replacing the hard drive. He gave me his phone number and I decided to call him to discuss this when I got home. I called John and he asked me a lot of questions about the laptop and came to the conclusion that the problem was less serious than was described. He indicated that he could take a look at the laptop and run several programs to assess it's issues. I took the laptop to him and over the period of a week found that the original assessment of 'replacing the hard drive,' purchasing and reinstalling Windows 7 and buying another copy of Microsoft Office was false and he would start working on the fix that very day. He called me for permission to buy 'recovery dvd's from Gateway to ensure that the correct software would be installed with the proper drivers, etc. He indicated that the major problem with the laptop was that it had been used and not 'optimized' for so many years that the software had become corrupted with conflict of drivers, etc. By the time I got home the following week, he had diagnosed the entire laptop, performed a COMPLETE backup of my entire laptop files and re-installed the laptop to Gateway factory specifications, all without charging me any additional fee. Most of what was done did not require me to pay for more software or hardware. John knew what he was doing and my laptop is working better than when it was delivered, brand new. The hard drive did not need to be replaced and I was ecstatic about the work he performed. I can honestly say that he saved me over $250 in repairs that were unneeded and my laptop has never worked better or faster. I will certainly call him again, if the need arises. I appreciated his patience and efforts with this technically challenged individual!!!! If you need someone to fix your computer, laptop or network, you need to contact John because he will give you the best quote and keep you informed, daily of the work he is doing. You can't go wrong with his services.

I was impressed by Matthew Edwards ability to communicate clearly and sustinctly. He stated his price, availability, and plan of action. Then he performed as promised. He showed up very promptly and worked diligently. He tried every thing he could think of to get my old computer to open up. He explained how computers get too full and start doing weird things. Nothing worked. He then asked if he could take it to his lab and see if there was anything else that could be done. The next day he said he had tried, but the problem seemed to be in the motherboard; and to fix it would cost more than a new computer. So, I asked if he could help me find a replacement, and he did. While his suggested computer looked OK, I spent some time trying to check out other options. None looked better, so I bought the one he suggested. Matthew gave me very professional help, spent extra time trying to get the old one working, and was pleasant and professional. I would gladly use him again and recommend him to others. I just got my computer back from Metro Techs and I just had to leave a review for them. I was ready to throw my computer in the trash, I did a quick search on Craigslist and I found Metro Techs. I spoke with Richard and he was extremely friendly and helpful. He asked me to bring my computer to him, he invited me into his work area and let me watch him work on my computer. An hour later, everything was working the way it should!
