Needed a wasp removal done, called a bunch of bigger companies and got outrageous initial quotes and none of them could come out today (Friday July 24th). Happened across a website called Thumbtack, popped in what I wanted and got several quotes by email. Jamison was the first to respond, gave him a call and told him what I needed and he promptly u turned on the freeway and came out to my property. He performed the work the same day for a great price and quickly removed these vicious creatures. Look forward to doing business with him again in the future!

Had a problem with carpet beetles. Office staff has been very helpful and efficient. Exterminating professional, Trey, did 3 treatments with the appropriate products. He was punctual, courteous, understanding and made great efforts to eliminate the insect problem. He explained the products and their application completely and thoroughly. And he showed a genuine concern for the solution to eradicate the pests. And the problem seems to now be gone. He is an excellent representative and asset to Bulwark Pest Control. I recommend this company to any body who wants a trustworthy solution to their pest problems. (insects, that is) Thanks, Trey.

We had a dead animal smell in one of our rooms. Billy came out the next day and found the animal in about 10 minutes. He removed it and the smell was gone. Billy also took the time to check the whole house and fixed the areas that needed sealing. I would definitely recommend Pest Guru. E. Baron

I had a really good experience for the first time from a pest control company. Cypress Critters & Pest my hero.... I have had 2 different companies come out for the same exact issue. me and my husband bought this property beautiful property gorgeous house we love it however been here three years and from the first six months of living here we kept hearing things moving around up in our attic we wasn't quite sure where it was coming from called a pest control company I won't say names.but they came out... I told him my issues they went up in my attic they removed a mama possum and some babies . They said my problem was over so thank you very much pay them they're on their way everything was great for a while next season came same issue. called Another company they came out. This time it was mom with baby raccoons! Was told again shouldn't have no more problem... so said thank you have a nice day! Now here I am again next season again hearing noise up there in my attic so very annoyed not knowing why I've called two companies and I'm still getting this issue so I called Cypress critters and pest and they came out , his name was Jerry Stockton... they removed the mother and babies and for God sakes they sealed all entry points where the raccoons have been coming in. so I shouldn't have any issues again!!! They are so professional and seem to really have a passion for what they do. I will definitelybe refer all of my friends coworkers even passersby if they need any help with any type of issues! Thanks again Jerry Stockton at Cypress Critters.... u saved my saninty😁

Q & A

Answers to commonly asked questions from the experts on Thumbtack.

What do pest control companies do?

Pest control companies handle all aspects of bug, rodent and animal extermination or removal. Pest control professionals visit your home or office to identify the type of pest that is troubling you and offer various treatment plans — complete with clearly outlined costs. Once you and the pest control company have a signed agreement, the pro will begin treatment. Pest treatment can range from the use of spray pesticides and gel bait to live and/or kill traps. There are a wide range of types of pesticides, many of them nontoxic for humans and other small animals. This means you may be able to have your home treated for pests without harming nearby wildlife or your dog and cat. The pest control pro will carry out the treatment plan and, depending on the service agreement, provide follow-up such as emptying traps, inspecting access points, or reapplying pesticide spray if the pests return. Costs will vary based on the type of pest you are having removed and the extent of the infestation. The average national pest control price range is $80-$130. From a minor bedbug event to an entire home termite infestation, pest control companies have got you covered.

How much does it cost to remove a mouse?

If you have a mouse in your house you’re probably quickly researching pest control costs. Mice, although tiny, can transmit diseases and also get into your food and leave unsanitary droppings around your home. If you have seen one mouse in your house, it’s likely that more have taken up residence in your crawl space, attic or basement. The national average pest control cost is $150-$200. Costs can vary depending on whether you need to get rid of a population of living mice or just dispose of a dead mouse (or full traps), how extensive the mouse population is, and where you live in the country. Here are some examples of average pest control cost for removing a mouse:

  • $150 for initial trap setup and inspection (and sealing of entry holes).
    • $50 for rodent removal service calls and emptying of traps. This visit can also include identifying and sealing entry points that were not sealed on the first visit.
  • Rodent extermination: $110-$350, depending on how heavy the rodent population is, whether the mouse infestation poses health risks, how many entrances exist and how many rodent bait stations are needed.

How much does it cost for a pest control service?

Whether you need to get rid of bugs or rodents, pest removal professionals can be lifesaving when you have an infestation. Pest control prices will vary based on what type of pest is being removed. The national pest control price range is $80-$130, although prices can be much higher for tasks like wildlife removal (raccoons, bobcats, etc.), which might start at $250 and exceed $500, depending on the animal and the trapping measures required.

The cost of eliminating a termite colony ranges on average from $240 to $400, but these costs can increase greatly if the whole house is infested. The average cost to kill cockroaches is between $80 and $130, while bedbug extermination ranges from $320 to $400 on average. The main factors that will affect your pest control price are the type of pest, the extent of the infestation, the accessibility of the infested areas, and the type of treatment required.

How much does it cost to get rid of cockroaches?

Cockroaches are not only ugly, they are difficult to get rid of. Quick and resilient, they can be hard to get rid of without professional help once they have inhabited a house. Nationally, the average range for cockroach pest control cost is $80-$130. Extermination professionals typically provide a free estimate to determine the extent of the infestation. They’ll check for the main sources of the bugs, identify bug access and entry points into your home, and determine the best method for elimination. There are a variety of cockroach extermination tools including gel baits and traps, pesticide foggers, desiccants (which dry out the cockroaches), neurotoxins, and other pesticides. Pest control costs can also cover preventive measures like regular spraying and trap maintenance. Some regions of the country are much more prone to cockroach problems than others, so pest control costs may need to be part of your quarterly budget. Cockroaches love dark, humid, and warm areas and water sources, so place traps near your washer and dryer and under your sinks.

How much does it cost to treat a house for termites?

Termites are not only creepy-crawly, they can literally eat your house out from underneath you. Termites feed on damp and dry wood and can chomp through your house at an alarming rate. The national average pest control cost for termite extermination is $240-$400. Treatment costs can be higher for an extensive infestation. Here are some examples of average pest control costs for termites:

  • Liquid treatment of subterranean termites: $3-$4 per linear foot.
    • For $75 per year, a company may offer a maintenance plan that provides inspection of the property and renewal of the warranty.
  • Liquid treatment of subterranean termites: approximately $400 for a 2,000-square-foot home at $3-$5 per linear foot.
    • The price is higher for additional work such as foaming and drilling inside of concrete slabs.
  • Fumigation treatment of drywood termites: $1,200-$1,500 for a 30,000- to 35,000-cubic-foot home
    • Fumigation is measured in cubic feet because it fills the airspace of the home and infiltrates the wood that the termites may be colonizing. The cost of fumigation is affected by the number of levels in the home as well as the square footage.
