Great job Enoch Electric! You rock! Uninstall of dishwasher and garbage disposal was excellent. Re-did plumbing under sink and did some welding and replaced a valve and left some putty behind for the sink. The best of the best is Enoch! Hire them and you will not regret it. The price was reasonable and not over the top. I cant say enough good stuff about this Christian based business. Every one else i called was super duper over the top in price! God Bless You!

Like all the other reviews, Dan was great. Showed up on time, fixed my plumbing issue, and charged me a very reasonable fee. I actually paid him a little more because I felt he deserved more than his fee. I will call him for any future plumbing needs.

The problem with home repairs is that they don't always go as scheduled. The good news is mine was not an emergency and I was willing to work with Jason. Jason called, let me know what was happening on his current job and that he was running behind. We agreed to reschedule. He showed up late the next day. In his favor, he did call me and let know what was happening and the reason for delay. He did make it to house, found the problem with my plumbing and was on his way in 30 minutes. I have no issues with hiring him again if and when needed. Sad part is, even though he was done in 30 minutes he was still running behind for his last job of the day. Told him I would keep his number on file for future use if he was ok with it. He was. Will not hesitate to call him again if needed.

Came out the next day and took care of the slightly leaking hose bib I had. He called to make sure he had all the information he needed to give an accurate estimate. When he got there to do the work he advised me nothing was wrong with one of them, and adjusted his estimate.Great work and highly recommended. I will certainly use again if I need plumbing work!

I’d give Jernigan’s 20 stars if I could. BEST customer service, PERFECT work and very reasonably priced. My husband and I loved Mike (the owner) the second we met him. He was our first quote and we knew immediately we wanted him to do the work. I’ve NEVER hired any company without getting at least 3 quotes and usually 5. We wanted to find a plumber to move our washer and dryer from the first floor to the second floor. If this went well, we planned on hiring them to do our master bath full gut and re-plumb project. Mike and Curtis worked their magic, they had to maneuver quite a bit to get the plumbing moved upstairs. They cut as little as possible sheetrock out, plumbed everything perfect and left our house spotless. Super nice guys. Cris, who handles all the invoicing and appointment scheduling was so quick at responding to my questions and requests. We had to work the plumbers around the electrician and handyman. She had them come at the exact time I needed to get this all done. EXCELLENT customer service which is somewhat rare these days. We hired them again a few days later to install an icemaker in our pantry. PERFECT job again!!! And they are coming back out tomorrow, our A/C went out and it had to do with a plumbing issue (caused by someone else a year ago). They are slammed right now but Cris worked us in so we wouldn’t cause damage to our HVAC. In a month or two we are hiring them to completely gut and re-plumb our master bath. There’s no other company I would trust with this. Mike and Curtis are THE BEST and Cris will take care of any questions I have. I don’t give great reviews unless the company deserves it. If you have any plumbing issues, this is your company! AMAZING work, service and price!!! My husband I LOVE this company!!!!

Jason was able to install the new faucet, which we primarily got to hookup a special water machine. We were not able to get it to connect to the new faucet. So, he went to a plumbing store nearby to try to find an additional part we needed (which they didn’t have). Since we couldn’t get it to work, he removed the new faucet and reinstalled the old faucet. Would definitely hire again, he went above and beyond!

I needed to hire a painter for my place of business which is a hair salon. I hired Jose and he was just fantastic! His communication was very thorough and he was on time and he did a wonderful job. I actually needed him to repaint the room from a prior painter who did a very sloppy job. Jose made my room look bright and beautiful and on top of it he cleaned everything so thoroughly. He wanted to leave my room spotless and I could tell he took a lot of pride in his services. I was very impressed with his work and I have already hired him to do a plumbing job next in my salon. He is the nicest guy you want to work with and he has an excellent work ethic. He is very upfront and honest he will tell you what he can or cannot do and his prices are very fair. Jose is going to be my go to guy for any handyman work I need in my salon going forward. I highly recommend him for whatever your handyman needs maybe. This man is a true professional!

They had excellent customer service. Although they were booked through the week, they tried to squeeze me into their day because of my urgent situation. The plumber Jordan came promptly and was an excellent communicator. He called before he came over. Provided a fair estimate. Assessed the problem and fixed the problem quickly. Provided suggestions to maintain the plumbing to avoid future issues.

Hackett plumbing was very impressive! They were super quick to respond with a quote, and made it out same day to do a valve replacement and dishwasher install. Pricing was extremely reasonable, and I did not fee like they were taking advantage of my dire need. I love supporting family owned businesses, and the tech that came out was very friendly and courteous. He made it very clear that he was willing to go the extra mile to ensure that we were 100% satisfied with everything he touched. We will definitely be using this company for future plumbing work.

Q & A

Answers to commonly asked questions from the experts on Thumbtack.

How long is a water heater supposed to last?

Your water heater is an essential part of your home, heating water for showers, dishwashing, laundry and more. On average, a traditional water heater will last 8-12 years. The general consensus is that it’s better to replace your water heater with a new one than to repair one that’s 10 years old or more. Older models are less energy-efficient and thus more costly to run than newer models with better technology. Here are some indicators of when it may be time to replace an old water heater instead of repairing it:

  • Leaks: If leaking is not caused by loose connections, the water may be seeping out through slight fractures in the metal of the tank that have formed over time.
  • Strange noises: Clanking, rumbling and other noises can mean that sediment has formed on the base of your tank, contributing to fissures leaks, and inefficiency.
  • Age: If it’s more than 10 years old, it’s probably time to replace.
  • Discolored or rusty water: Have a pro check it out; if the problem isn’t resolved by draining and cleaning, you’ll want to replace the heater.
  • Lack of hot water: Inconsistent heating and hot water supply that runs out too quickly likely means it’s time for a new unit.

What are plumbers and what do they do?

Plumbers are skilled professionals who are trained to install and maintain pipes and systems for drinking water, sewage and drainage. They usually have trained through four- to five-year training programs, which include apprenticeships, via trade schools and community colleges. Plumbers’ areas of expertise typically go beyond pipes to include mathematics, blueprint reading, plumbing codes and water distribution. They handle plumbing emergencies, such as broken pipes or clogged drains, and install and maintain everything from a new piping system to a replacement faucet. Plumbers also know how to install bathtubs and showers, toilets, water heaters and dishwashers. Plumbers may work on residential or commercial sites, sometimes designing and laying out a pipe system during construction.

Why is the water in my house not getting hot?

If the water in your house is not getting hot, it may be time for water heater repair. Nationally, the average water heater repair cost ranges between $120 and $200, although prices can range up to $400, depending on the problem and materials. Competent homeowners may also be able to try DIY fixes, whether they have a traditional gas or electric water heater or a tankless gas or electric heater. Troubleshooting the different issues that can arise with each of the styles requires some knowledge of how they operate and what red flags to look out for. For a natural gas water heater, the first step is to check whether the pilot light has gone out. It’s important to follow the manufacturer’s directions if you want to relight it yourself. If you smell gas, stop everything and call your gas company — the smell could signal a dangerous gas leak. If your household’s water is not getting hot enough, you can try increasing the temperature on the water heater’s front dial above the standard setting of 120 degrees; for safety, always turn off electricity to the unit before adjusting temperatures. If you keep running out of hot water, your household may simply need a higher-capacity water heater, so consider upgrading. Quick professional fixes include replacing the thermostat or heating elements and cleaning and repairing the thermocouple.

How much does it cost to fix a hot water heater?

Nationally, the average water heater repair cost ranges between $120 and $200, although prices can range up to $400 or more. Water heater repair costs will depend on the type of water heater you have (tankless, electric, natural gas, etc.), the source of the problem, the cost for new parts, and labor rates in your area. Common water heater issues include problems with the thermocouple, thermostat, heating element and leaks. Most standard electric water heaters have two thermostats and two elements. One example for the cost to replace a bad thermostat is $185 for parts and labor. Replacing both the thermostat and the heating element could cost approximately $150-$200. The thermocouple is a safety device that senses when the pilot light is burning and signals the gas valve to close if the pilot light goes out. If your thermocouple is bad or corroded, the average cost to clean and repair it could be between $350 and $400. If your water heater has started to leak, it is usually more cost-effective to invest in a new water heater than to repair it, unless you’re covered by a warranty.

How much does it cost to install a tankless hot water heater?

Tankless water heaters usually cost more to install than traditional tanks, because many homes need to be retrofitted to accommodate the new system. Tankless electric water heaters retail on average between $150 and $1,200, and tankless natural gas water heaters retail between $200 and $1,300 on average. The lower prices ($150-$250) are generally for point-of-use tankless heaters that can be installed to boost hot water in high-demand areas such as the bathroom or kitchen sink. Tankless water heaters designed to heat whole homes usually start under $300 at the low end and go up to $1,400 or more. Pricing for whole-home varies with the heater’s technology and features. Nationally, standard water heater installation costs average $360-$780, but tankless water heater installation costs may range from $400 to $1,000, depending on the work needed. Some perks of tankless water heaters are that they have nearly double the life expectancy of traditional water heaters and are generally more cost-efficient. Homeowners may be able to save $100 or more per year on their utility bills with an Energy Star approved tankless heater, depending on how much hot water they use.
