FAQs
- What should the customer know about your pricing (e.g., discounts, fees)?
Lessons are 30 minutes long and take place online, via Zoom once a week. The cost is $35 per lesson, paid in advance for each month.
- What is your typical process for working with a new customer?
Learning an instrument via online lessons does have some challenges and may not be the best fit for everyone. For this reason, I offer a free consultation (15-20 minutes), that gives the student and myself a chance to meet, talk about their goals for the lessons, and allow them a chance to see how it would feel to learn in that environment. It also gives me a chance to evaluate and address any technical issues before we actually start lessons. My approach to teaching guitar is to use the music/songs that the student enjoys listening to, and get them playing something they can recognize as soon as possible. This goes a long way to keep them motivated and excited. With younger students, I also teach them to read music on the guitar. It's a valuable skill to develop should they decide to play in the school band or orchestra in the future, and if nothing else, it has plenty of cognitive benefits!
- What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?
I studied Jazz and Popular Music Performance at The Hartford Conservatory, have taught private guitar, bass, piano, and music theory lessons for over 20 years, and have over a decade of professional performance and touring experience.
