Did an excellent job on my carpets - on time, professional, polite and courteous.Had an extra charge for removing a major blood stain from Berber carpet (where I had tried to do it myself) and some spots in my bathroom carpet where my daughter had dropped hair dye a few years ago, but everything got cleaned. Most importantly, my wife is happy. Will use again.

The team did a very good job. Two ladies showed up on time and went to work right away. Before they left they asked me to approve their work. There were a couple things I asked them to go back over which they did without hesitation. I am very hard to please as I don't think anyone can clean my house better than me but I was very happy with the service provided. I called Mark the same day to inquire about getting some pet stains out of the carpet and he came over himself and got the stains out with in 15 minutes of arrival. I will definitely use this company again. Everything was so easy and the employees were very pleasant. Mark went above and beyond to make sure I was a happy customer. Job well done.

They came to install the laminate flooring in my house last week. I am so happy to see the new floor. The house now looks brighter and warmer. I don't have to worry about the pet stain on carpet any more. They came in one week and finished the living room and bedroom in two days. The work quality is satisfying as you can tell from the pictures. I will let them to come back to do the upstairs as well.

Eliot and his helpers were very professional and the house looks terrific. We had a deep cleaning and steam carpet cleaning. They dusted and wiped down everytging, including the top shelves in the closets in the master bedroom . We have 2 cats and a LOT of cat hair and they worked had to get it all out. The also cleaned all of the corners on the floor - down on his hands and knees! We would defiantly recommend Eliot and his team!

I hired John to repair the carpet near my utility closet which had been bleach stained. When I told him that I didn't have extra carpet and didn't want to swap the closet carpet with the bleached patches, he went the extra mile and picked up a closely-matched swap. John also completed some carpet stretching in a couple of areas that had buckling. Great job and with utmost professionalism. I recommended him to my neighbor who needs carpet replacement and am happy to be able to support this small business owner. John hustles and takes pride in his work.

Many thanks to Chris. Stains came out of the carpet. He is a good communicator, arrived on time, and handled the job professionally. The carpet did take longer to dry than predicted. He did mention that it seemed a bit more plush than he originally thought.

High quality, polite, professional, punctual and oh my the nasty looking carpet is so bright looking. Only the rust stain didn't come out but that apparently has been there for a very long time. The quote was unmatched and the work quality speaks volumes. Thank you!

Q & A

Answers to commonly asked questions from the experts on Thumbtack.

Who cleans area rugs?

Like your carpets, area rugs should ideally be cleaned at least once a year to remove dust and dirt and help them last longer. In general, carpet cleaning professionals also clean area rugs. Some rug cleaners bring their cleaning equipment to your home, while others remove your area rugs and clean them at their facilities. Either way, the rug should be cleaned with the solution most appropriate to its specific fabric and construction. It should also be completely dry before you return it to the floor.

How often should carpets be steam cleaned?

Dirty carpets can be unhealthy for the people living in the home, particularly those who have allergies, so it’s important to have them cleaned regularly; simply vacuuming once or twice a week isn’t enough. Carpet cleaning should be done by a professional carpet cleaning service at least once a year to remove grime and help extend the life of your carpet. Most carpet manufacturers recommend professional steam cleaning, which penetrates deep into the carpet fibers and lifts out both dirt and the pollutants that get tracked inside. Steam cleaning also removes most of the moisture, so carpets dry quickly enough for homeowners to resume using them the same day. Between professional carpet cleanings, your carpet may need an emergency spot cleaning. Pet accidents, food or drink spills, and more can often be effectively cleaned with some water and a drop of white vinegar, although many cleaners will also make house calls for smaller spills and hard-to-clean spots like wine or grease stains.

How much does it cost to clean a rug?

Area rugs are typically found in high-traffic areas of the home, like hallways and entryways, so they collect more dirt and stains than simple vacuuming can handle. Similar to carpet cleaning, professionals can come to your home to deep-clean your area rugs. The national average cost for rug cleaning ranges from $80 to $120, but may be higher or lower depending on the rug’s size and fiber type. Rug cleaners generally charge by the square foot; for example, a standard 8-foot by 10-foot rug costs an average of $100 to clean. Natural fiber rugs, such as wool or silk, are usually more expensive to have cleaned than synthetic rugs. A carpeting cleaning company may charge on average $1.50 per square foot to clean a synthetic rug, $2 per square foot for a wool rug, and $3 per square foot for a silk rug. Some delicate rugs need to be washed by hand, which increases the price. Carpet cleaning companies often offer additional services, such as removing odors or applying moth deterrent, which can add 20 cents to 25 cents per square foot.

How much does it cost to carpet a bedroom?

If you’re building a new home, remodeling, or ready for new carpet in your bedroom, you’ll want to know carpet installation costs. Here are the factors that affect the cost of your new bedroom carpet:

  • Installation cost per square yard: From under $2 to over $6. Carpet companies have a labor cost per square foot for installing your new carpet. Depending on where you live in the country, that rate can vary greatly. This rate does not include the cost of the carpet.
  • Type of carpet: from $1 per square foot to $20 or more per square foot. The fibers that make up your carpet will have a direct effect on cost. As an example, specialty wool carpets may start at about $10 per square foot, while a manufactured fiber like nylon may be about $2 per square foot.
  • Removal of old carpet: from $1 to $4 per square yard. Old carpet is labor-intensive to remove and also costs money to dispose of or recycle. The cost to remove carpet will depend on how much carpet you need removed and whether your installation pros offer a discounted rate for installing your new carpet at the same time.
  • Subfloor repair: from $40 to $70 per hour (plus materials cost). If the flooring underneath your old carpet is damaged, it must be repaired before the new carpet is installed. Many carpet pros can offer this service, or you can hire a handyman to handle the job.
  • Type of carpet pad: $1 per square yard and up, depending on the thickness. The cost to install carpet pad is typically included with the labor cost per yard of installing the carpet itself.

How much is the cheapest carpet?

If you’re looking to reduce carpet installation costs, there are several ways to save. Start by considering your carpeting needs. Manufactured materials such as polyester and nylon will be cheaper than natural fibers such as wool. From big box retailers, starting prices for olefin-based carpet are approximately 50 cents per square foot — making the cost under $5 per square yard. Indoor carpets made with olefin fibers are typically the least expensive on the market. Keep in mind that olefin fibers are not as soft on bare feet as other fibers, so are often used in areas like basements, playrooms or indoor patios. Nylon and polyester are good options to reduce carpet installation costs while still creating a cozy feel. The face weight, fiber construction and density of a carpet all affect the cost per square foot. The cheapest nylon or polyester carpets can start at just under $2 per square foot, making them about $18 per square yard. Lower-cost carpet tends to wear out more quickly and show stains more easily, so avoid light colors and vacuum regularly to keep the fibers clear of dirt that might age it too quickly.
