Alicia Silvestri was fabulous and I am thrilled to recommend her to others. She arrived early so was all set up at the start time. She had taken the time to draw up a full poster of designs that fit our theme and her art work was beautiful. She was easy to work with and very pleasant. I will encourage the coordinator of our strawberry festival to hire Alicia for that event.

Shelley is the best! Shelley has been our designer/decorator/project manager for as long as I can remember. My business flips houses and does vacation rental properties, so Shelly helps us with picking out design finishes, stages houses to be sold, and completely furnishes houses for high-end upscale vacation rentals. Whether the goal is to go very high-end, or if you are looking for an expensive look on a two dollar budget, Shelly knows all of the best places to get great stuff at very expensive rates.

Amazed and thrilled with the way my condo turned out thanks to Craig. This was my first experiance working with an interior designer. I bought a small condo and he really helped make the space work with just the right furniture, colors and window treatments. With the luxury look he gave me he still came under budget. It was very enjoyable working with him, not only did I learn a lot from the designing process but he created exactly the atmosphere that I was looking for my space and now I just love being in my home. Thank you so much Craig!!

In our new home I wanted to use transitional styles: mingling mid-century modern, vintage farmhouse & contemporary styles… Not asking for much, huh? Also, wanted to mix some rough & natural textures on accessories with some sleek & some bling. Really thought no one could or would want to go with all that, but Hanniel John took time getting to know me. Almost like a Design Doctor, she got together a strategy for the design of a couple rooms first (respecting that I was not so sure it could all be done within my budget). At the final reveal Hanniel made me cry tears of joy. She did our central room (like a fancy family room) & the combo Living/Dining area on-budget (with just two small adjustments where I decided to go with higher quality accessories). There's no way to express in print how it feels when your home reflects your creative side, within your budget, and, simply makes you feel super happy to be home (& show it off too). Clearly, to Hanniel John, design is not just a business, but a calling she is gifted for. P. S. She has curated thousands of items in her own files, and knows quite a bit about antiques, which was really handy for my project.

I needed a website for my business. I honestly did not have that much to spend so my options were limited. But AustinWebDeveloper was able to work with me on a price that I could afford. Overall the service was excellent. Fast, knowledgable, and inexpensive. I happened to live in the area so we met up to work on my site. He took care of the entire design, development, SEO, image optimizations, social media links, and he even set up a payment processing system so I can run an ecommerce page and sell products in my site. I strongly recommend AustnWebDeveloper for everyone who need web solutions.

Special thanks to Alton and Heather Hill. They designed my logo, set up my website, have provided me with business cards, t-shirts, and rack cards. The website is performing far above my expectations because of the SEO work. The ongoing support of Heather hill Design can't be beat. Kayleen and Kyari Group did an amazing job redecorating my condo at the Austonian. Kayleen can up with many ideas that I never would have thought of on my own, yet the ultimate design was completely consistent with my overall style. Kayleen did an amazing job and found great items that were also a great value.

    About

I am a freelancer graphic designer who just moved to USA after marrying my wife. I reside in Austin, TX.

    About

Why my work stands out? Hmmm.....because I meet with my client face to face no matter how big or small the project is. I feel as if the client sees there business as an opportunity to grow and learn, the least I could do is show them the respect of personal interaction and not just a phone conversation! I love everything about my job. To me it's not a job it's my passion! When you enjoy design and appreciate it for what it is and what it could be there are endless possibilities!

    Q & A

Answers to commonly asked questions from the experts on Thumbtack.

Why should you hire a web designer?

Your website is often the first thing your customers see when they’re searching for a business or service on the web. As the face of your organization, your website needs to be attractive and functional, offering the latest features that users now expect. To plan and design a site that both reflects your company’s mission and values and appeals to customers takes a professional web designer. While free online services can help people set up websites, web designers can provide a unique solution made specifically to meet customers’ personal or business needs.

Most web designers offer a wide variety of services to make your website aesthetically pleasing and easy to use. Modern web design must be mobile-friendly and scalable, capable of expanding to include a blog, social media sites, and even video streaming; web designers are experts at integrating various web technologies. They can build the site, add functionality, test it, launch it on a live server, and track and maintain its performance.

In addition to web design and graphic design, some web design providers also offer development and security services, including search engine optimization (SEO), social media marketing and management, logo design, site maintenance, domain registration and hosting, protection against malware, and digital marketing and content services.

    What do interior designers do?

Interior designers do much more than pick complementary paint colors and choose matching furniture — although those tasks are important parts of the job. Unlike decorators, interior designers usually have an associate of science degree or certificate of achievement in interior design from an accredited program. They’re trained in drafting, lighting and computer aided design (CAD), and are experts in room-specific design and residential space planning. Interior designers use these skills to plan and design safe, highly functional and beautiful interior spaces, from kitchens and bathrooms to family rooms and bedrooms. They determine space requirements, work within building codes and inspection regulations, and meet accessibility standards. An interior designer’s day-to-day job includes creative and technical tasks, both of which often require great communication skills:

    • Creating model rooms and visuals using design software.
    • Researching different textiles, materials, finishes, lighting and furniture.
    • Hiring suppliers, vendors, and contractors.
    • Estimating costs and making bids on potential jobs.

What should you look for in a website designer?

A professional web designer creates the look and feel of your website, collaborating with you to choose colors, creating logos and other branding materials, establishing page layouts, and creating sample pages. An important part of web design is making sure the site is functional, meets your goals, and is easy for users to navigate. When you’re looking to hire a web designer, start by reviewing the person’s portfolio. Look for samples of work that match what you envision for your website, including experience building the types of pages or features you want. Make sure the web designer is familiar with your industry and understands both industry trends and web design trends — an old-fashioned or out-of-touch site will turn customers away rather than intrigue them.

Because web designers tend to work as freelancers on a project basis, they must be excellent communicators, willing to manage their own work, and available on your schedule. Some critical skills, such as working collaboratively and responding enthusiastically to feedback, aren’t core to good web design, but make working with a web designer much easier. Finally, look for a web designer who has cross-functional knowledge, such as understanding marketing and conversion rate optimization in addition to web design.

How much do web designers charge?

The average cost for hiring a web designer varies greatly depending on the scope of the work, which may range from building a site from scratch to rebranding an existing one, as well as the amount of content and graphics the designer will create. In general, the more complex the project, the more time the design agency will have to spend. Because web designers often work on an hourly basis, the longer the project, the higher the costs; you can count on the web designer spending at minimum 10 hours to create a very basic website with just a handful of pages with few elements. Prices also depend on the designer’s skill set, the process, and the company’s rates. In general, the national average cost for a basic website package starts at $500, but a customized website can cost as much as $2,000 or more. Here are typical average hourly rates, broken out by the complexity of the work:

    • Basic layout and user interface: $15-$40 per hour
    • Content management system design: $20-$50 per hour
    • Custom website design with custom code: $45-$75 per hour

What makes a good logo design?

A good logo is an easily identifiable, memorable image that represents your brand. A good logo design aligns with your business model and expresses your company’s core values. A good logo design is simple, appealing, and easy for customers and viewers to quickly process. Some of the key components of a great logo are type, color palette and design. The scale, font and arrangement of the text you select will all make a difference in the feel and representation of your brand. A graphic designer will help you home in on the colors that best represent your identity and help you keep the color palette simple. The design of your logo includes the shapes you select and the way the color and type are arranged together. Investing in the services of a professional to create your logo design is likely a smart investment for any size business. Nationally, the average price range for a logo designer ranges from $170 to $250.

Hire skilled professionals for absolutely everything.
