United Home Services – Poor Workmanship and Customer Service This is the worst customer service I have ever received from a Thumbtack contractor. My wife and I agreed to pay United Home Services $1,600 for air duct cleaning, HVAC sanitization, and replacement of our intake/vent grates. (Less $100 for not replacing airflow grates.) Unfortunately, the work was incomplete and the customer service was extremely disappointing. My primary concerns are: * Incomplete work: The intake grates, which were an important part of the service we agreed to, were not replaced. The technician, Elon, simply stated that he could not find the correct size and suggested that we hire a handyman (which we had to do!) * Questionable quality of cleaning: After inspecting the work, the vent boxes and visible duct areas still appeared dirty and did not look thoroughly cleaned. * Poor workmanship: Several old grates, screws, and debris were left on the floor after the technician finished. * Unprofessional service: The technician wandered throughout our home and repeatedly left for unspecified periods of time during the service. * Missed follow-up appointment: After I complained, Elon said he would return on Monday to measure and replace the grates. He never showed up. * Second technician could not resolve the issue: Four days later, United Home Services sent another technician, who also stated that they were unable to replace the intake grates. * Dismissive management response: After several calls, I finally spoke with the manager, Michael. Rather than addressing my concerns, his response was essentially that “the bad comes with the good.” I found this response unacceptable given the amount we paid and the incomplete work. * No documentation: We were told our purchase included annual air duct cleanings for the next four years, but we have received no written documentation confirming this commitment. As a long-time Thumbtack customer, I have never experienced this level of poor workmanship, lack of professionalism, and dismissive customer service from provider hired through the platform. NOTE: photos are after the cleaning service.
