What do you need for drywall repair?

To repair drywall, you need up to several tools and materials. For example, you may need a drill to insert drywall screws and boreholes. A drywall saw or utility knife is perfect for cutting and shaping drywall, and don’t forget your tape measure and pencil. Drywall and taping knives are also essential.

For materials, you’ll likely need construction adhesive, drywall tape, drywall screws, masking tape and joint compound.

If you don’t have these tools — and you don’t want to spend money on them — contact a drywall repair professional instead of doing it yourself.

Who do I hire to install or repair drywall?

A general contractor, handyman or a drywall contractor (or company) can usually install and repair drywall. It’s recommended that you call one of these types of pros when your drywall needs to be repaired, such as after a plumber or electrician has completed their work.

Look up local pros online and compare their profiles, paying extra attention to their ratings, reviews, experience and list of services. Contact three to five pros to get cost estimates for your project.

Do you need a license to repair drywall?

Pros may need to obtain a license to fix and install drywall. It’s always worth checking with your local government about whether a drywall company or contractor has to be licensed before they work on your project.

Nick did an excellent job repairing some drywall damaged due to a water leak. He arrived promptly on time, finished in the estimated time, and even fixed a minor repair for me while waiting for the new texturing to dry. I highly recommend him for home repair projects that you might have.

Dry wall repair, patching, texturing, painting. We recently moved into a new home and had custom closet built. The company took out the parts installed by the builder, but does not offer dry wall repair service. I hired Angel out of 4 companies that did estimate for the drywall repair. Angel offered a reasonable price that was comparable to others. He was accountable, reliable, sincere, and did an excellent job. He showed and updated me on his progress while he was repairing the dry walls. I would definitely hire him again if we need a handyman in the future.

I hired James to complete some drywall repair in the guest bathroom, but then decided to have new tiles installed since he had to remove the toilet anyways. I was in a hurry to get the work done so I could paint before the kids came home from a trip away. He came out on a Saturday and started the work on a Sunday! I was really impressed with his responsiveness & he was very friendly. Overall he did a great job & I was happy with the result.
