I originally scheduled moving with Cordobe LLC for tuesday 8/16 at noon. I called them at around 12:15 just to get an idea when they would be coming. I just wanted some form of eta, I would have been happy if they at least gave me some eta even if it was a 3 hour eta, but the office said they could not get a crew and did not know eta but would call me once they got a hold of the grew. A little after 3pm (3 hours after scheduled move time), I still had not hear back from Cordobe, so I called Elite Movers to see if they had anything available that day or the next. They were able to fit me in with an arrival of 1pm-2pm on 8/17 with a call to let me know when on the way. I also had scheduled people to unmount my Tv for me, and they cancelled on me too.
At 1:03, I got a call from them asking about my gate code. I did not get the call that they were on the way, but I work only 1 mile away from where they were. I managed to get to the apartment when they were pulling up (I went the back way through the apartment complex).
I show them to the apartment, I show them what all needs to be moved. I informed them that the place I am going to is on the 3rd floor.
I do not believe the leader of the crew, an older guy, read the quote because he seemed surprised to hear about going to a 3rd floor, and surprised about getting a tv from a storage room at my apartment complex on the way, both of which were discussed with company when scheduling.
The older guy kept calling the office, and I could hear him complaining about doing another move with a 3rd floor apartment that day. This complaining (granted not to me) started while we were at the starting point which was on the ground floor.
I started to feel bad, so I started to try to help a little putting some of the smaller things into my car. I have already done a good amount of moving boxes on my own over the weekend. I originally planned on being lazy while the movers were doing their thing because I could barely walk Sunday with all the moving I did Friday and Saturday, but hearing that guy on the phone made me feel a little bad.
I asked them if they could help unmount the TV. I was not asking for it to get mounted, just get it either off the mount or off the wall since I cannot carry my tv (I am 5'1, I simply do not have the size to be able to carry it alone). They said that is something they normally do not do but they will take a look at it. I told them if they cannot, I would figure something out. They were able to get it off the mount for me.
I then had a printer that was too heavy for me to carry alone. They did not have room for it if I wanted my other tv moved, so I rearranged stuff in my car to put it in my car instead of their truck. That was the last thing from the ground floor apartment.
We then went to the storage room at the apartment complex, and got my other tv out of there. It barely fit in their truck, but we got it to fit.
They followed me to the new apartment (only around 0.25-0.5 miles away).
They started to unload the truck, and I unloaded my car with the little things I had put into it.
They unloaded things into the hallways for awhile. While they did that, I unloaded the smaller things I had put into my car.
They brought up the Washer and Dryer first, but once brought up we realized the bifold door to the laundry room would cause a problem. So they put the W&D in spots out of the way to be dealt with later. One of the guys saw the stacks and stacks of boxes already at the new apartment and made a comment about how I already did a lot of stuff on my own. I had no kitchen counter space because of all the bins boxes and bags I already brought. You also could not even tell that I have a fireplace because the stacks of boxes covered that wall.
I could hear the older guy calling his company and complaining about the 3rd floor multiple times while there. The 2 younger guys were great and just keep moving and pushing on. I moved multiple things from the hallway drop spots to my apartment. Some of the stuff I moved was stuff the older guy put on the 2nd floor and some was in the 1st floor hallway. I offered water and sunkist to them, but they said they had water.
While one of the guys was putting together my bed, he apologized for the older guy saying it is their job to do moves and he shouldn't be complaining. At this point I just sat down on the floor talking with him while he put together the bed. I was exhausted. The older guy and other younger guy moved the boxes up while the bed was getting reassembled.
Once the bed was done, the only thing left was the washer and dryer.
I called the office of my apartment to see about getting a maintenance man to come out to get the door off. They said they would call the maintenance people. About 15min later, I called office again to see if they got ahold of them or not. One maintenance guy and supervisor already went home, and the other one was at a call at another apartment.
The movers could not wait another hour to see if the maintenance showed up or not, so I paid and they went. Them not being able to get the washer and dryer plugged up is not their fault. I did not realize how much space that door took up until the movers were there. Several hours later, I was able to get a friend to take the door off, and we measured; everything would fit through the door and into the laundry room now that the door is off.
All in all, this company was nice and helpful. They got me in last minute. They helped me with something they normally do not do (taking Tv off of mount). The older guy was not the most professional calling and complaining, but the 2 younger guys were incredibly nice. This was the first set of movers I have ever had that were not hispanic, and they all spoke english clearly as their first/main language.
It was a good experience. I would hire them again. I just would like to not overhear complaining by one of the movers.
