Rick and his crew arrived at the agreed upon time and went straight to work. The grass/weeds were really overgrown and everything needed to be cut, edged and weed whacked. They took care of everything we asked. We are going to set up a lawn maintenance schedule, as well as get quotes for driveway and fence replacement. I definitely recommend Rick At Your Service!

A section of my privacy fence had completely fallen down into the yard. Some of the boards in the fence were loose. Some were broken at the bottom allowing dog to get in and out of yard. Many boards were loose because the nails in them had come out or were almost out causing the fence to sway. There was an area under both gates that were so high that a dog could easily get out by going under them. One gate had an area that stuck when you tried to close it. The fence was bending, swaying, sagging, and falling here and there. Christopher Curiel responded to my request for fence repair right away and came out the same day to inspect the fence and gates. He was respectful, easy to talk to and very polite. He saved me ALOT of money bc he truthfully told me that all my fence posts were secure and did not need to be replaced. I wouldn't have known that and I appreciate his honesty. He also agreed to use screws instead of nails to secure the boards better. He replaced the broken fence boards; he replaced the upper rails that were very badly bowed. He arrived right on time and worked quickly to get the job done the same day. I had a tree in the yard that was hanging over the fence. I asked him if he could trim it and he did! He also trimmed back the overgrowth on another tree in the yard when I asked him to and he trimmed my back fence line shrubs so that they were even and not dragging on the lawn. He is the real deal. I believe his price was very reasonable. He had all the tools and equipment to do the job. He had a helper so it went faster. I have no complaints!

Professional and efficient. Came promptly and inspected the damage to my patio sliding door glass rather than giving an off-the-cuff estimate site unseen. He checked on availability of glass and gave an estimated time frame for completion. I contacted him that evening to accept his quote. He picked up the replacement glass the next morning, arriving at my home by 10:00 am. Everything was completed and cleaned up by 11:30. Less than 24 hours from initial contact to finished job. I will definitely call him again for any needed repairs.

David was great from start to finish. He gave an estimate in writing the same day he looked at the ceiling repair work we needed. He scheduled timely and completed the work within the estimate in time and money. We plan to use him again for future painting and fence work.

Needed fence repair. Pat came out to inspect and gave me an estimate. Came when he said he would and was even early. His guys are very knowledgeable, professional and very polite! They explained exactly how they were going to repair the fence and they went above and beyond to ensure the fence wouldn't fall off anymore. Extremely pleased! And the price was well within my price range! I highly recommend Bluebonnet!

I was in search for a professional to power wash my fence and deck and to repair a leaning fence. After reviewing my options, I went with Danny from H2O blasters. He had 5 out of 5 rating and excellent reviews. After the job he did today at my property I can definitely see why. Excellent communication throughout the whole process and definitely exceeded my expectations. Highly recommend.

Steven went above and beyond the call of duty to fix our fence. It was attached to our neighbor's fence, which was sliding down the hillside, pulling ours down with it. Steven put in a new post, cut our fence away from our neighbor's, and propped up our neighbor's fence, so that it would not slide any further. He also put in long screws into some boards that were blown loose by the wind. He did all this for less than the competition. Steven is a consummate professional, who does great work at a modest price. You will not be disappointed if you hire him. We've already got a couple more jobs lined up for him around the house.

Pablo Gay, owner, did a wonderful job in creating a deck for our garden home, at an affordable price. Quality work with a good work ethic, he was timely, organized and efficient. He actually does the work with the aid of a helper. His meticulous construction philosophy, along with his ability to adjust the design to the specific conditions found on our property, resulted in a custom deck that is very durable, pleasing to the eye, and practical to use.

Eric used a combination of existing and new materials to expand my fence gate to accommodate my yard tractor. He worked hard and long for just over five hours to complete the project. His attitude was pleasant and he was easy to talk to throughout the day. Great job!

Fantastic - best contractor we have ever hired. Mike (Owner) provided a detailed line item quote and was the lowest quote among six other contractors. He communicated with us from start to finish. Work exceeded all expectations. Asked for new quote on another project. His crew finished the job in four days as promised and were very professional, friendly and went beyond the scope of the project. My wife and I are amazed how well the pool demo went, the sodding of the backyard and front and the clean up upon completion. There needs to be more contractors like Agnew Contruction Co. They can gladly use us as a reference for potential customers. Many "Thumbs Up".

I hired Dallas to build a fence around my property. The fence had several gates and involved digging post holes cementing the posts in the ground, building and installing gates and installing fencing around my whole property. Dallas did an outstanding job in a timely manner.

Q & A

Answers to commonly asked questions from the experts on Thumbtack.

How much is a redwood fence per foot?

A redwood fence is a long-lasting home investment that can add beauty and major curb appeal to your home. Redwood fence installation costs are higher than those for pressure-treated pine or cedar, due to the relative scarcity of the wood. Pricing can vary for redwood fence installation costs based on regional labor rates, current prices of redwood planks, the height and linear feet of the fence, and any custom designs or features. Redwood fences, in addition to being beautiful, are naturally more resistant against bugs and rot than less hardy or dense woods. Redwood fences also generally fare well in wet or humid climates due to their natural oils — which also make them easier to maintain. Materials costs per linear foot for redwood planks can range anywhere from $6 to $20 or more, depending on grade, quality and height.

How much does it cost to put up a chain-link fence?

Chain-link fence is one of the most affordable options for adding safety and value to your home or business. The national average chain-link fence installation cost is $2,750. Chain-link fences are relatively simple for the pros to install; a fence of less than 150 linear feet can often be put up in under one day. A good rule of thumb is to add an additional workday for each additional 100 linear feet of fence to be installed.

Chain-link fence installation costs are affected by the fluctuating cost of steel, regional labor rates, the height of fence you select, and the features you select, such as a powder-coated finish. The industry standard is galvanized steel, which is rust- and corrosion-resistant. Galvanized chain-link fence installation cost, including labor and materials, is typically $12 per linear foot. For a more contemporary and elegant option, black powder-coated galvanized chain-link fence might cost approximately $15 per linear foot on average, including materials and labor. For industrial sites or businesses, 10-foot-high galvanized chain-link fences may provide additional security, but also have an added cost. A 10-foot-high chain-link fence could cost $17-$18 per linear foot, including labor and materials.

How much does it cost to install a vinyl fence?

A new fence can mean added home value, increased curb appeal, and improved home security. The national average vinyl fence installation cost is $4,600. Vinyl fences have a number of appealing qualities such as their durability, their lasting good looks (they don’t weather like wood does), their versatility, and the fact that they require little to no maintenance such as staining. Fencing companies typically charge per linear foot for vinyl fence installation. They calculate their estimates based on materials to be used, height of fence, linear feet of the proposed fence, and the accessibility of the terrain. If the workers need to level the land before work begins, your vinyl fence installation costs will probably increase. Vinyl fences are typically more expensive than wood or chain-link. For example, one company might charge $19-$22 per linear foot for a basic 6-foot vinyl privacy fence. Another company might charge $25-$35 per linear foot for standard vinyl fencing, while decorative fencing with custom detail could increase that cost to $50 per linear foot. For a 6-foot-high white vinyl privacy fence with two walk-through gates (plus demolition and disposal of the old fence), the cost of the total project could run $8,000. A 4-foot-high, 36-linear-foot white picket vinyl fence with one gate could cost $2,600.

How much does it cost to install a wood fence?

Help define your property line, protect your home and yard, and boost your curb appeal with a new wood fence. The national average for wood fence installation cost is $3,250. Wood fence installation costs will vary based on your geographic location, the type of wood you select, the height and style of wood fence you desire, and the condition of your property. Pressure-treated pine is a common and attractive choice that is usually resilient against rot and bugs. Cedar is another budget-friendly option that, although more expensive than pressure-treated pine, can be more affordable than redwood or teak. A wood fence requires maintenance to ensure its long-term health and beauty, so keep future staining and painting costs in mind when you’re calculating fence installation costs. Here are some examples of how height and material affect the approximate cost of wood fences:

  • 6-foot-high, pressure-treated pine fence: $15-$17 per linear foot.
  • 4-foot-high, pressure-treated pine fence: $13-$20 per linear foot.
  • Cedar fence: $18-$25 per linear foot.
  • 6-foot-high, double-sided (meaning both sides are uniform), pressure-treated pine fence with 6x6 posts: $25 per linear foot.
  • 12-foot-high, pressure-treated pine fence with custom detailing: $75 per linear foot.
  • 6-foot-high, pressure-treated pine fence with a custom lattice top: $30-$50 per linear foot.

How much does it cost to install a fence gate?

Adding a gate to your fence can be a practical way to provide access to a yard, work area or outdoor living space while ensuring safety and privacy. Gate installation costs will vary based on the gate material you select, the size of your gate, whether you install a fence at the same time, and any special features you’d like to add. Standard opening size for a single-wide gate is 4 feet; a double-wide gate is 8 feet. A small gate may be for decoration; a double-wide gate can be mounted on a rolling caster system to allow access for cars or wide loads. Here are some examples of average fence gate installation costs:

  • 4-foot, single-swing chain-link gate: $100 for materials and installation costs.
  • 28-foot wheeled chain-link gate on a caster system: $800-$1,000 for materials and installation costs.
  • 4-foot, single-swing wood gate: $75.
  • 8-foot double-wide wood gate: $150.
  • 4-foot white vinyl walk-through gate: $300–$400 for materials and installation costs.
  • 8-foot, double-wide white vinyl gate: about $800 for materials and installation costs.
  • White vinyl gate fence more than 8 feet wide: $1,200-$1,500 for materials and installation.
  • Arched black powder-coated aluminum pool gates: $175-$200 per gate.
