From the beginning of the move till the end James guys came in and took care of all my belongings, I didn't have to pick up a single thing. These guys were very professional and worked at a great pace. I have a 3 bedroom house It would have taken me 2-3 days to move myself these guys knocked it out in half a day. These movers were awesome!!!!! I would recommend them to everyone.

Surprised he came the first day and also willing to take away a lot of broken glass. It was late and he still showed up. I would mark 5 stars but the program does not feel people should get 5 stars and you loose ratings.

Movers came almost an hour late luckily for me I had the boarding dock at my loft open for them to come at the wrong time. Otherwise we would have had a problem. Nonetheless, the movers were polite, completed the job in a timely manner and did an exceptional job packing all my boxes in my Uhaul. No complaints. Would recommend.

The move with Anything Goes was one of the best moves I've ever had. They arrived within 15 minutes of the scheduled time (which is on time for movers. I've had movers arrive hours late). The workers were very diligent and took excellent care of my items. If I ever move again, I will definitely choose Anything Goes Enterprises.

I needed a last minute mover for a washer and dryer. Shawn got in contact with me within 10 minutes of me posting. He was very nice and he also gave us a heads on the washer we were purchasing. He’s very knowledgeable and gave us a simple price with no hidden fees. I will definitely use him again for our next move!

I can’t say enough nice things about Erin! Not only has she helped me pack for my move she helped me get rid of things! When I needed a mover she recommended someone who I am using. I had many items to be donated and she even dropped them off for me and brought me the receipts. If you need some one to help pack or organize Erin is your girl!!!!

Ray and his team exceeded our expectations. They were able to meet our last minute request to have junk picked up same day. They provided quote based on the photos we provided. They arrived within hour after we agreed on the price. Upon arrival, we immediately noticed that they specialize on demolition and removing construction debris, or any unwanted household goods, yard waste etc. They did a quick walkthrough of all the areas that needed to be cleaned. They removed all the debris from all the areas we shown. To our surprise, they swept the area and if needed they will wash the area with the hose. We were extremely satisfied with their professionalism and their attention to detail. We will be using them again in the future as we continue to accumulate junk as a result of our remodeling work.

I have to say I am very pleased with the service that was provided. The movers Gabe, Josh, John and the fourth mover (who I cannot remember his name, I apologize) were professional and prompt. They arrived perfectly on time and quickly began loading their trucks. Not only were they excellent in handling our possessions with care, they genuinely were nice guys. One of them set up my mothers bed in minutes, taking away the stress of having to set it up later. I'm so thankful for their work and will definitely be referring this company to people who may need movers and later for any future moves that my family needs. These guys made the move so much easier and took away so much stress from myself and my family.

Drew Kelly and his friend Dex were awesome! This was my most unorganized move Ever. The person I hired to pack didn't show up, so the movers pitched in and helped me get the majority of the important stuff loaded, dropped off at 2 separate locations, making what should have been a quick move last more than 13 hours. And through it all, these guys were cheerful and encouraging when I wanted to lie down and cry. Everything arrived in great shape, including antiques, and one piece with glass on 3 sides. Did I mention Drew is a safe driver? Or that I'm disabled and was transporting a deranged feral cat? If I Ever move again (highly unlikely) I'm calling Drew, who will probably run for the hills! 😂😳😜

I recently had the pleasure of working with Blake for a move from San Marcos to San Antonio. This was my second move with Blake and his team. Their professionalism, time management, and quality of service is outstanding. I was impressed at the upgrades Blake offers with his moving services since my first move, December 2012. He has dollies, blankets, shrink wrap, and a crew that is incredibly efficient. He was easy to touch base with days prior to the move and the day of the move. They loaded and moved a 10' x 15' storage unit with 1BR:1B + study furniture plus at least 50 boxes. The time spent loading and unloading on this move was streamlined by having the same size boxes taped properly and removing odd shaped items prior to the crew arriving. With the proper prep work, they can be as fast as you need them to be. My move took 3 hours with approximately 45 minutes of that spent traveling. Without a doubt, I would recommend Bobcat Movers to any single, couple, or family needing to move any length of distance. I look forward to working with Blake for any future moves.

Hello my name is Margaret. God bless the 2 gentlemen that came and moved me from Born 2 Move, they were quick and strong. They had my whole bedroom set bubble wrapped and protected within a matter of minutes saving me money. The movers I used before them were cussing up a storm & gave up on my solid wood armoire where as Born 2 Move made it look effortless ... i was amazed. If you need to move i highly recommend you use Born 2 Move, they ARE the professionals.

Funny group of guys. They did a good job, moved the things where I asked them to move it. Everything was as described. Guys were just a little late and charged me for an extra four minutes. Also there is a $10 charge if you use a card to pay. So make sure you have cash handy at the end of the transaction. However all of that is explained during sign up and again when the movers show at your location. Very transparent. No strings attached and you get what you pay for. I'd recommend these guys.

Rose Services did an AMAZING job on a last minute, big yard I needed mowed and weedeated. I had never been a customer, and they were kind enough to work me in on short notice. Communication was thorough and personable, they kept me up to date on arrival times and the payment process. I had an unusual situation with a rental home and they worked with me to get everything taken care of. Even sent me pictures of the finished work. They went above and beyond to do a great job! Despite being shorthanded the morning of my job, they still arrived punctually and stayed in communication. There were a couple of lower small branches that had sprouted on a few trees, and they took care of those without me even mentioning it. They were wonderful to work with, seem like genuinely good, family oriented people, and I wouldn't hesitate to recommend them to anyone needing a lawn service performed. Thanks again!!

    Q & A

Answers to commonly asked questions from the experts on Thumbtack.

    What do moving companies do?

Moving companies provide a range of services to help you physically move out of one residence and move into a new place. But moving companies can do so much more than just haul your belongings across town in a truck. The national average for moving company prices ($250-$350 per hour) reflects the range of services provided. Here are examples of all the ways moving companies can help:

    • Packing: Moving companies can pack your belongings for you. They typically charge a flat rate for both the box and the labor to pack the box. The more time-consuming the belongings are to pack, the higher the cost per box. For example, books could be $5 per box, linens $10 per box, and fine china and glassware $18 per box.
    • Specialty moving: Safely move a baby grand piano, a oversize aquarium, or other specialty items with the help of pro movers.
    • Storage: Many moving companies can store your belongings while you wait for a new home to be remodeled or closing of your new home to be finalized. If you’re moving long-distance, they often provide short-term storage free for a specific length of time, and a set rate after that (such as $60 per square cubic foot of storage space used).
    • Long-distance moves: No need to rent a trailer and move your things; a long-distance moving company can haul your belongings across the country for you. Typically they charge by the cubic foot for moves, with prices based on your destination.
    • Unpacking: Moving companies can even unpack your belongings for you after they have moved them. This is not as common, and will definitely increase the price, but can be helpful if you’re not able to tackle this task yourself.

How much does a moving company charge per hour?

When you’re ready to make a major move, it’s time to research moving companies’ prices. A moving company may charge on average anywhere between $25 and $100 per hour, per worker, for moving services. The price will vary with regional labor rates, local cost to do business, and the level of service the movers are providing. Nationally, the average hourly rate for a moving company is $250-$350 per hour. This price includes a range of pricing, from all-in service with four or more movers on site to standard hourly rates for one or two movers. Other factors that affect moving companies’ prices are packing, stairs (or elevators), and distance. For a full-service move, you pay movers to pack your belongings for you. You may pay for the cost of the moving boxes and an hourly rate per worker, and there may be additional charges for packing fragile items. Stairs will also add to your moving prices. Lifting and carrying boxes and furniture up and down stairs takes more time and creates more physical labor for the workers. Moving companies may charge flat rates for flights of stairs, such as $50-$70 per flight. A moving company may also charge a one-time fee for moving things via elevator, such as $75-$100. If parking is not accessible in front of your home or apartment building, there may also be an additional fee for the added distance to carry your belongings to the truck.

How much should you tip furniture movers?

Moving furniture is hard work and potentially dangerous unless you’re properly equipped. For anyone not ready to handle their heavy oak armoire alone, professional furniture movers can safely and efficiently move your items to another room in your house or across town as needed. The national average cost to hire heavy furniture movers is $150-$200 per hour. This rate could include multiple furniture movers working as a team to move items such as beds, armoires, billiards tables, pianos, shelves, tables, entertainment centers and more. Hourly rates can vary by region. If your furniture movers have arrived on time, done a great job, kept your home and belongings protected from scratches and dings, and completed the move as planned, a tip will be greatly appreciated. Moving companies suggest approximately 10 percent of the total bill as gratuity for those doing local moving jobs, which is also a good guideline for tipping heavy furniture movers. If the total bill for heavy moving was $100 and two workers were onsite, consider giving them $10 total, or $5 each for a job well done.

How much does it cost for long-distance movers?

Long-distance movers transport your belongings across the country for you. No more renting a trailer and road-tripping from state to state with your entire house hitched to your bumper. Long-distance movers make the move happen so you can fly to your new home, suitcase in hand, and wait for your furniture to arrive. Nationally, the average price range for long-distance movers is $1,490-$2,230. The distance you are moving and the number of cubic feet the movers have to transport will both affect cost. Another factor in long-distance moving costs is whether you choose to pay for an exclusive move or a consolidated move.

In an exclusive move, which is more expensive, your belongings are the only cargo on the moving truck. The movers travel directly to your new house and deliver your belongings on a scheduled day. A consolidated move is more affordable because the movers transport your belongings along with those of other people, saving them time and gas — which means you save money. The downside is that your belongings typically arrive with a two-week delivery window rather than on a prescheduled day. Read reviews to make sure you can trust the company with your possessions to ensure a peaceful moving process.

How much does it cost to move a one-bedroom apartment across the country?

Professional movers can handle the hard work of moving your one-bedroom apartment across the country for you. You can determine what your move will cost by learning the rate your movers charge per cubic foot and how they factor distance into the total cost. Cross-country movers typically charge based on your belongings rather than apartment size because that determines how much work they will have to do. For example, a studio apartment that is crammed full of things will take more work and moving truck space than the contents of a three-bedroom apartment with very little furniture.

Cross-country movers may also have varying rates, depending on where in the country you are moving. For example, a company may charge $5 per cubic foot for consolidated moves along the East Coast and $6 per cubic foot for consolidated moves from the East Coast to the central states or the West Coast. A one-bedroom apartment costs approximately $1,500 to move across the country.

Hire skilled professionals for absolutely everything.
