Cadenza Piano Service professionally maintains pianos so that they sound and operate their best. With an express mission to elevate the enjoyment and use of acoustic pianos throughout San Antonio, TX and beyond, it is my vision to see new musicians inspired and pianists of all levels given an enhanced capability for musical expression. Cadenza Piano Service upholds the values of Integrity, Professionalism and Diligence in all aspects of operations. This work allows me to meet a lot of great people and handle many different challenges on a daily basis. I often reflect and remember when I was a child playing the piano my grandparents gave to my mother and father so that I could take piano lessons. I remember how it felt to play the piano right after it had been tuned. With clear, balanced intervals and clean, crisp unisons – it was almost magical. I was a young, inexperienced musician then, but I still felt an emotional response to a well-tuned instrument. When I sensed it moving out of tune in the months that followed, I would yearn for the time that the instrument would be brought back to me again – fresh, new and alive.(show more)

"Concert-Artist-Recording Quality" Tuning... EveryDay, EveryOne, EveryTime, Every Piano!!! *The "budget option" is to perform a Stage I & II "pitch correction" (+/- 100 cents) only for my standard fee. This is NOT a "Fine Tuning!" It is only the first "stage/step/layer" in the process of "stabilizing" the pitch for a truly Fine "Concert/Artist Quality" Tuning (Stage III). It is the most basic fundamental foundation for any/every quality piano tuning. It is equivalent to three (3) normal tunings. However, at this "stage" the piano will be playable and ready for an actual "Fine" tuning. In "emergency" situations, or extreme time constraints, this procedure will save the day! A truly Fine "Concert/Artist Quality" (Stage III) tuning service can then be accomplished in a month or two. Tuning Quality Levels: **Stage I (+/- 5 to 20 cents) = 10-40 cents total pitch spread (Rough/Course Quality) Low-Definition **Stage II (+/- 1 to 5 cents) = 2-10 cents total pitch spread (Good/Very Good Quality) Standard-Def. **Stage III (+/- 0.01 cents) = 0.02 cents total pitch spread (Super-Ultra-Fine) "Concert/Artist Quality" Hi-Def. As explained in the Pitch Correction/Pitch Raising Explanation... There are no shortcuts, except to stop short of completing the work necessary to achieve excellence. Creating music requires "excellence!" Without "excellence" music becomes "noise." It's not more than you need, just more than you are accustomed to receiving! More Raves... Dear Michael, Thank you so very much for the really wonderful work you did today on my Kawai Grand! It is just beautiful-------better than new!-----The problem area, with the action response that I disliked so much, is now vastly improved. I think the piano is more like it was years ago now. And the tuning; wow...! I would like for you to tune my Steinway "B" Grand now, as well. Thank you very much, Judy B. (Julliard Grad.-Piano Teacher/Instructor) Well, I hate to keep telling you about how great the Steinway is now. We raised the top a bit, and wow, it is perfect! I have to force myself to get up from practicing...! I have been playing things that I had forgotten about. It is like getting reacquainted with old friends. No wonder I didn't ever want to play the Steinway! It had been like a freight train! Now it is more like 15 years ago when it was new. What a gift you have for the work that you do. Thank you so much for all the time you spent today getting the piano in such good shape. I really appreciate you and the care and concern that you have to make things right. Thank you so much. Judy B. (Julliard Grad.-Piano Teacher/Instructor) More raves... After a partial restoration & concert preparation of their grand piano, Diane G. wrote: OK, Michael, heres a direct quote from "Susan Werner" performing at our in-home concert on Easter Sunday: Could I have a nicer piano for this gig? Listen to this thing! Perfect! - Susan Werner (http://www.susanwerner.com/) Rave Review during the South by Southwest (SXSW) Music Festival... ...the piano really did sound great at the house concert. The artist, Jim Boggia (http://jimboggia.com/), stayed late after the crowd went home, just to play the piano... he complimented the action, the pitch, and the tuning. His manager/agent was impatient to leave but Jim said he was having too much fun with the piano. "Steve Stubbs" made a professional quality recording of the concert and the piano sounded wonderful.(show more)

I do a flat rate full service tuning on every piano I tune. How is this different? The difference is a full service tuning includes a lot more than just tuning the piano. And best of all, it's all included in the flat rate price so this eliminates surprises. If your piano has not been tuned for a while, it will most likely require a pitch raise ($30 value) to bring the piano back to the standard A440 pitch. Does your piano have some keys that are stuck? I'll fix those keys. If your piano has been tuned regularly, then I will spend the remaining time on areas of concern which may include action regulation, voicing, pedal adjustment, damper adjustment, etc. Pianos are very complex instruments and a lot more needs to be addressed than just the tuning. The whole idea is to make a notable improvement on your piano each time I service your piano. What I like most about my job is meeting other musicians. I also enjoy the challenge of working on issues that are technically more difficult to deal with.(show more)

What do you love about your job?
I love my job because it keeps me close to music. I love that it presents daily challenges due to so many different manufacturers of pianos throughout the history, I constantly am meeting new people, and I feed off the enjoyment displayed by the customer when they first hear their piano after I have tuned and repaired it. I like to be out and about rather than in the same office every day.
What or who inspired you to start your own business?
My dad was my main influence along with my brother. Once I discovered I was a very good technician, my interest in the business grew. My dad taught me and provided the tools, so I seized the opportunity. I enjoy the trade and working with antiques and rare woods. Completing the job and knowing you have contributed to the art and traditions of piano rebuilding and music performance are truly satisfying.

I was extremely pleased with Len's service! He took the time to really explain to me what my piano needed (we bought a used one) and give me my options. Our piano sounds amazing now! I would easily recommend him to others!(show more)
We were very impressed with Collin. He is very knowledgeable and professional. He tuned our Yamaha upright piano and it sounded incredible! He gave us good advice and was willing to answer all of our questions. You get what you pay for, he is reasonable in his rate and top notch. I would resist the temptation to get a cut rate price, valuable instruments need good care to insure great performance. We will definitely recommend him to our friends!(show more)
