Chris was great. He was quick to respond to my request. Came to look at the project and gave a fair estimate, and finished it the next day in an hour! Recommend him for any other fencing project or repair needed!

Good quality, timely work with a very competitive price. I had a large fencing and landscaping project and they worked with me figure out what I wanted and then knocked it out quickly and efficiently. Their pricing was better than any other quotes I got and they were honest and straightforward to deal with. Will definitely be using them in the future.

David was great from start to finish. He gave an estimate in writing the same day he looked at the ceiling repair work we needed. He scheduled timely and completed the work within the estimate in time and money. We plan to use him again for future painting and fence work.

To start, our fence was falling apart! We went from one of the nicest fences in the neighborhood to one of the ugliest. Our original fence was a standard, builder’s grade fence installed by the home builder in 2007, which we had professionally repaired in 2014 (via another contractor), but this time were due for a complete replacement. We've had great success with the professionals on Thumbtack and although we’ve never worked with Queta Construction before, Henry Rodriguez’s response time, pricing, and knowledge were superior to all the other fencing contractors we interviewed. It was a pleasure working with him at the end of April 2016 and after the treated boards have had a chance to dry out in a month or two, his team will be back out to stain our fence. Again, super nice, very professional, and very reasonable in price. Where most contractors we’ve talked to (even on past projects) will only accept cash or check, Queta Construction also accepts credit as a form of payment. Henry came to our home within days of initial contact on Thumbtack for a quote which was provided within minutes and his team was available to begin work only a couple of business days later. He listened to all our requests and made recommendations where appropriate. They even built us a custom trashcan containment area to match the fencing (pricing on that custom build was excellent, as well). Very flexible scheduling, returned phone calls quickly, and work was completed ahead of schedule. The fence is superior to our builder’s standard fence in every way: treated pine posts, rails, and 2x6 base supports, and beautiful 1x6 cedar pickets, posts installed at 2.5’ depth with no cement showing above ground, everything installed very evenly and flowed smoothly with the peaks and valleys of the yard, from posts to rails to pickets. Great quality boards, no visible knots or holes. I highly recommend Mr. Rodriguez and team! I understand some of my neighbors have already contacted him for quotes of their after seeing the work he did at our house. Thanks again Henry!!

We hired H2O Blasters to repair our fence and power wash our sidewalk/driveway. Danny came out to look at the project and give us a quote on a Thursday and completed the job on Monday. He was curtious, punctual (both days), professional and very reasonably priced. The work he did was wonderful and our walkway has never looked better! I would absolutely recommend Danny and H2O Blasters to anyone looking to have this type of work done.

I had 250 feet of cedar fencing replaced, and the top scalloped for an ornamental effect. The attention to detail was phenomenal and produced a very attractive and sturdy fence. My neighbors on both sides of my house were very impressed and have asked for information on getting other landscaping & fencing work done on their properties. I honestly feel I got much more for my money than I paid for and have no regrets and no reluctance to recommend this contractor!

Steven went above and beyond the call of duty to fix our fence. It was attached to our neighbor's fence, which was sliding down the hillside, pulling ours down with it. Steven put in a new post, cut our fence away from our neighbor's, and propped up our neighbor's fence, so that it would not slide any further. He also put in long screws into some boards that were blown loose by the wind. He did all this for less than the competition. Steven is a consummate professional, who does great work at a modest price. You will not be disappointed if you hire him. We've already got a couple more jobs lined up for him around the house.

I would like to share that I thought my fence built in 2006 was pretty much ready to be tossed, but I called Bud Goff (he does fences/decks/home repair), and he did an amazing job of adding MANY, MANY more years of life to my fence. He powerwashed it and my driveway (which turned out to be super dirty), he repaired broken posts, broken pickets, added a middle third rail for support and stained/sealed it. All of this for a fraction of the cost of a new fence. Really fair prices. He even caulked up some open seams on the side of my house to be nice. He came out the day after I called him, gave me a quote and finished the project quickly. He arrived early each day of the project. His phone number is 512-939-1182, in case you need it.

Fantastic - best contractor we have ever hired. Mike (Owner) provided a detailed line item quote and was the lowest quote among six other contractors. He communicated with us from start to finish. Work exceeded all expectations. Asked for new quote on another project. His crew finished the job in four days as promised and were very professional, friendly and went beyond the scope of the project. My wife and I are amazed how well the pool demo went, the sodding of the backyard and front and the clean up upon completion. There needs to be more contractors like Agnew Contruction Co. They can gladly use us as a reference for potential customers. Many "Thumbs Up".

We are very happy with the excellent work done by David. He replaced approximately a 60' of fencing, including 2 gates. We had special requests regarding the materials used which he gladly accommodated. The job was done quickly, neatly and the price was quite a bit less than other quotes we received. We recommend using Highline Fencing.

Frank and his assistance came out to give us a fence quote. We have not decided on the fencing as yet, however, he was able to immediately help us with a roofing problem with rotten fascia. He and his assistant did an excellent job. We would not hesitate to hire him for a variety of projects. He is easy to work with and goes out of his way to be sure you are happy with his work. It is a pleasure to have someone to work with who is so helpful as well as reasonable in his charges.

He did an excellent job on installing our fence. Did what he said he would do. He asked if there was anything that needed further attention and there were a couple minor things which he promptly took care of. He was knowledgeable and had some good advice on how to make the fence/gate work best. He also left the work area clean which was a big deal to us after a bad experience with another contractor. I would recommend his company to anyone looking to have a fence installed. We plan on contacting him if we need more work done in the future.

Q & A

Answers to commonly asked questions from the experts on Thumbtack.

How much is a redwood fence per foot?

A redwood fence is a long-lasting home investment that can add beauty and major curb appeal to your home. Redwood fence installation costs are higher than those for pressure-treated pine or cedar, due to the relative scarcity of the wood. Pricing can vary for redwood fence installation costs based on regional labor rates, current prices of redwood planks, the height and linear feet of the fence, and any custom designs or features. Redwood fences, in addition to being beautiful, are naturally more resistant against bugs and rot than less hardy or dense woods. Redwood fences also generally fare well in wet or humid climates due to their natural oils — which also make them easier to maintain. Materials costs per linear foot for redwood planks can range anywhere from $6 to $20 or more, depending on grade, quality and height.

How much does it cost to put up a chain-link fence?

Chain-link fence is one of the most affordable options for adding safety and value to your home or business. The national average chain-link fence installation cost is $2,750. Chain-link fences are relatively simple for the pros to install; a fence of less than 150 linear feet can often be put up in under one day. A good rule of thumb is to add an additional workday for each additional 100 linear feet of fence to be installed.

Chain-link fence installation costs are affected by the fluctuating cost of steel, regional labor rates, the height of fence you select, and the features you select, such as a powder-coated finish. The industry standard is galvanized steel, which is rust- and corrosion-resistant. Galvanized chain-link fence installation cost, including labor and materials, is typically $12 per linear foot. For a more contemporary and elegant option, black powder-coated galvanized chain-link fence might cost approximately $15 per linear foot on average, including materials and labor. For industrial sites or businesses, 10-foot-high galvanized chain-link fences may provide additional security, but also have an added cost. A 10-foot-high chain-link fence could cost $17-$18 per linear foot, including labor and materials.

How much does it cost to install a vinyl fence?

A new fence can mean added home value, increased curb appeal, and improved home security. The national average vinyl fence installation cost is $4,600. Vinyl fences have a number of appealing qualities such as their durability, their lasting good looks (they don’t weather like wood does), their versatility, and the fact that they require little to no maintenance such as staining. Fencing companies typically charge per linear foot for vinyl fence installation. They calculate their estimates based on materials to be used, height of fence, linear feet of the proposed fence, and the accessibility of the terrain. If the workers need to level the land before work begins, your vinyl fence installation costs will probably increase. Vinyl fences are typically more expensive than wood or chain-link. For example, one company might charge $19-$22 per linear foot for a basic 6-foot vinyl privacy fence. Another company might charge $25-$35 per linear foot for standard vinyl fencing, while decorative fencing with custom detail could increase that cost to $50 per linear foot. For a 6-foot-high white vinyl privacy fence with two walk-through gates (plus demolition and disposal of the old fence), the cost of the total project could run $8,000. A 4-foot-high, 36-linear-foot white picket vinyl fence with one gate could cost $2,600.

How much does it cost to install a wood fence?

Help define your property line, protect your home and yard, and boost your curb appeal with a new wood fence. The national average for wood fence installation cost is $3,250. Wood fence installation costs will vary based on your geographic location, the type of wood you select, the height and style of wood fence you desire, and the condition of your property. Pressure-treated pine is a common and attractive choice that is usually resilient against rot and bugs. Cedar is another budget-friendly option that, although more expensive than pressure-treated pine, can be more affordable than redwood or teak. A wood fence requires maintenance to ensure its long-term health and beauty, so keep future staining and painting costs in mind when you’re calculating fence installation costs. Here are some examples of how height and material affect the approximate cost of wood fences:

  • 6-foot-high, pressure-treated pine fence: $15-$17 per linear foot.
  • 4-foot-high, pressure-treated pine fence: $13-$20 per linear foot.
  • Cedar fence: $18-$25 per linear foot.
  • 6-foot-high, double-sided (meaning both sides are uniform), pressure-treated pine fence with 6x6 posts: $25 per linear foot.
  • 12-foot-high, pressure-treated pine fence with custom detailing: $75 per linear foot.
  • 6-foot-high, pressure-treated pine fence with a custom lattice top: $30-$50 per linear foot.

How much does it cost to install a fence gate?

Adding a gate to your fence can be a practical way to provide access to a yard, work area or outdoor living space while ensuring safety and privacy. Gate installation costs will vary based on the gate material you select, the size of your gate, whether you install a fence at the same time, and any special features you’d like to add. Standard opening size for a single-wide gate is 4 feet; a double-wide gate is 8 feet. A small gate may be for decoration; a double-wide gate can be mounted on a rolling caster system to allow access for cars or wide loads. Here are some examples of average fence gate installation costs:

  • 4-foot, single-swing chain-link gate: $100 for materials and installation costs.
  • 28-foot wheeled chain-link gate on a caster system: $800-$1,000 for materials and installation costs.
  • 4-foot, single-swing wood gate: $75.
  • 8-foot double-wide wood gate: $150.
  • 4-foot white vinyl walk-through gate: $300–$400 for materials and installation costs.
  • 8-foot, double-wide white vinyl gate: about $800 for materials and installation costs.
  • White vinyl gate fence more than 8 feet wide: $1,200-$1,500 for materials and installation.
  • Arched black powder-coated aluminum pool gates: $175-$200 per gate.
