Amazing! Very beneficial for my 5YO boxer, he went into the 3 week training (being shy and a bit rebellious) and came out a very well behaved dog. I'm very grateful I found them and very thankful to Oscar for the training he's provided not only to my baby but also to me. Highly recommend Barks 5th Avenue. Great experience from the first time I requested info to the time the hand over happened. Grooming and daycare was also very good. Chowder will definitely be visiting daycare there and next is puppy training for my boxer. Old dogs can learn new tricks!

Modern K9s provides great dog training. They came to my home to consult and meet my dog and we agreed on a package to help him learn. What I like best is they train and work with you and your dog in your home, in your real life situation. My pug loves them and they have made themselves available to answer questions and help retrain me. My dog could hardly sit still for 5 minutes, but after working with him, he is a joy to be around. Highly attentive and will sit as long as I want him to. They customize their program based on your needs and the needs of your dog. I am so happy I went with them over other choices.

Misty & Wayne did their first session with my dog Bailey on last Saturday and the results have been good. I am very surpised and pleased at the amount of change in my puppy already after just one lesson. She is more controlled and the tips that they left me with really work. We have been working daily since they left and the progress is very clear. We had went to a treat-based puppy training class at a local kennel that taught her commands that she only responded to with treats and totally ignored if treats weren't invoked. After one session, she is responding without treats. I'm impressed! Can't wait to get a few additional classes under my belt.

Paula communicated very well. My dog is very shy hand had some bad experiences with other groomers. Paula was very patient with my dog. She let me know that she wanted to try to make my dog not fear being groomed. When she completed the groom, my dog came out happy and looked great. Paula was professional and very kind. We look forward to working with her again. Thanks Paula for your dedication and kindness!

Heidi was great! She made the entire process of grooming our elderly dog simple and quick. A typical grooming visit takes all day and the dog is locked up in a kennel. Heidi came to our home and groomed our dog on the back porch and it took no more than 45 minutes. We will definitely use Heidi again.

All I can say is OUTSTANDING JOB! My service dog, still a puppy in training, was a spaz and and I was having thoughts that she wasn't the right dog. After training, she came back totally laid back and obeyed commands. I don't know how they transformed my pup, but they did. I highly recommend Tri-County K9. You can see how good she is on her Instagram page @hopetheservicedog

Michael is the dog whisperer! I rescued Julie from the Houston SPCA on July 22nd after getting her home we quickly looked at each other like what have we gotten ourselves into? This pound puppy is cra cra! She was an owner surrender then adopted and quickly returned to the shelter because “she was to hyper” my husband and I made a promise to Julie that she was a good girl deep inside and we wouldn’t give up until we helped her find that good dog behavior we both just knew she had it in her! We took her to the vet and put her on m do for her sever anxiety issue that helped she calmed down but she was still clueless to any basic commands. I decided to look for a trainer to work with Julie for the behavior and anxiety issues we were seeing. I found Stealth K9 and contacted him asking about the cost for board and train. His quote was hundreds cheaper than the rest and his reviews were great he was very responsive I hired him right away! He came and picked Julie up the same day Within 4 hours of reaching out for help. When he arrived Julie did not like him at all because she didn’t know him, she actually bit him out of fear within minutes of him meeting her, that didn’t phase him at all! He was persistent with her and before he even left the house with Julie he had her healing next to him on the leash! He was there for less than 30 min. My husband was blown away. I get daily updates on Julie but after only 3 days of training he sent me a video of Julie’s progress I was in shock completely blown away. Julie loved him she was 100% fixated on him! She was already doing sit stay, heal sit and she was doing it with major noise distractions. He was using positive reinforcement by pet and praise no treats I love this style! I want my dog to perform her commands all the time not only for food. Michael and his team of trainers work day and night training the dogs. Julie has had multiple different trainers all day long so she is taught to take the commands from everyone not just 1 person she has shown no further aggression not even with new trainers she hasn’t worked with yet or doesn’t know. There aren’t enough words to express how great everyone has been with my Julie girl! I am so grateful that I found Michael and he is making it possible for me to fulfill our promise to Julie that we will never give up on her or take her back to the shelter we promised to get her the help she needs and we absolutely have.

Modern K9 are dedicated to both you and your dog. Training your dog is one part of what they do, but the commitment to being sure you are comfortable and able to continue training, at home, on your own is also very important to them. Offering advice and reassurance as well as sticking with you if your having trouble is what sets them apart. Many thanks for all the help they have given to me. I'd be lost without them!!!

I went out of town for a few days and hired Carmen to dog sit for me. She did an outstanding job taking care of my puppies Kijo and Zoey. She was very professional and did exactly as I asked. She even sent videos and pictures and regularly updated me on what's going on. I will definitely hire her again. My doggies love her! Thank you Carmen! 😊

Sarah is absolutely amazing! Where do I begin? As soon as you start speaking with Sarah you can immediately tell how much her profession means to her. It is clear that she is in it for the dogs and it’s obvious that she is doing exactly what she was meant to do. She will take the time to explain to you the reasons behind doing things which helps to give you a better understanding of the training and your dog. If you are looking for a dog trainer, I highly recommend Sarah!

Jen and I had messaged one another in order to discuss helping our dog Vanilla. Unfortunately, we are a very far distance away in order to do visits. However, she still took the time to help us as much as possible via e-mail, sending helpful tips, videos, and more. THAT is something you don't see often, and I greatly appreciate it. We are definitely going to utilize what she gave us!

Pat is incredible. We boarded our dog for 7 days. He left a 1 yr old very hyper wire hair fox terrier. He came a back very calm and loving pet. He is no longer attacking our older toy fox terrier. Amazing. Thank you so very much! Sending our anxious min pin next. Would highly recommend her without reservation to anyone with a dog or cat that has behavior difficulties!

Rebecca has come to my home many times to take care of my black lab. She is punctual, respectful, friendly, professional, knowledgeable, and fantastic with my senior dog who has cancer. I trust Rebecca to properly give all required meds plus a lot of extra hugs and kisses. She even volunteered to walk my baby without me asking her to -- she goes the extra mile because she loves the animals. And I love the photos she sends (again, on her own initiative). I just can't say enough good things about Rebecca and how great she is with both animals and people!

    About

What our clients tell us is that they can really tell The Pet Palace is a family owned business vs run by a corporation somewhere else. Our place is always clean and smells great. When the pets arrive, they run towards the kennel door - seriously, just come in and you can watch them! They like that we are involved in helping rescue group provide homes for pets that are permanent ones due the big discounts we offer all adopted pets. Everyone here really loves what they do and have really big hearts. We treat all clients no matter who they are equally, to us, everyone is a King or Queen. We love hearing the clients share with us the various ways they can tell their dog is excited once they determine they are on their way here. some figure it out before leaving their home, some on the way here but all of they know it by the time they pull in to our parking lot! The other thing we really like is to being able to help the many Pet Parent find a food that not only does their pet really enjoy eating but provides them with so many benefits that they have been missing from their current food. And last, we really love to hang out and watch all the various groups playing out in the Group Play yard and Swimming Pool!

I will be coaching you on how fitness classes with your dog will work with your current business model. I will be sharing with you what has worked for us and what hasn't (no use wasting time and money!) I will be preparing you for what is needed to run a fitness class or event. I will be informing you on the legal documents, certifications, and insurance requirements that you will need, taking you step-by-step, so that you will have a successful class format that your participants will love! The benefits of bringing a dog to work are so increasingly obvious that more companies are catching on. Studies show that people who interact with a pet while working have lower stress levels throughout the day, while people who do not bring a pet see their stress levels increase over time. Dogs in the office also lead to people taking more breaks, to play with or walk the dog, which makes them more energized when they return to work. This, in turn, has been shown to lead to much greater job satisfaction and productivity.

        Q & A

Answers to commonly asked questions from the experts on Thumbtack.

How old should a puppy be for training?

Dog training shouldn’t wait until you’re having behavior problems. If you get a new puppy, start from the beginning with professional training to give both you and your puppy the tools you need for a healthy relationship. Dog training is as much about teaching the owner how to interact with their new dog as it is about the dog learning to behave. Puppy training can start as early as eight weeks old. Trainers who offer puppy training programs may works specifically with dogs between the ages of 8 and 18 weeks old. Trainers can teach owners about potty training and how to deal with accidents, working with separation anxiety, and training your pooch out of destructive behaviors like chewing, biting and demand barking. Puppies will start to learn to walk on-leash and other basic skills.

In addition to behavior training, socializing your puppy is an important part of dog training. Socializing your dog means they become comfortable and confident in a variety of settings and have a great foundation for becoming a well-adjusted adult dog. After your puppy has had the proper vaccinations, you can start to introduce it to a variety of different dogs and people in safe settings.

Which dog training method is best?

The best type of dog training for both you and your dog depends on the outcomes you hope to achieve. If you want your dog to learn agility training, go to someone who specializes in those techniques. Regardless of whether you want your dog to learn basic behavior or competitive-level tricks, the majority of dog training is actually about training the owner how to communicate with their dog. Most professional dog trainers agree that a model of training based on positive reinforcement breeds a happy, healthy, well-adjusted dog. The alternative to positive reinforcement training is using force or aggression techniques like physical punishment or shock-collar training to get the dog to do (or not do) a behavior. While the dog may learn how to behavior as you direct, it is also learning to communicate with force and aggression, and will in turn use those behaviors on other dogs (or people) that are smaller or weaker than it is. Before signing up with a dog trainer, meet with the trainer and ask for references. Watch the trainer interact with your dog, and make sure they treat your dog with patience and firm kindness. Ask them questions about their training methods:

        • What type of training methods do you use?
        • What is your background and training, and how did you become a dog trainer?
        • How long do you expect that we will work together before we achieve the results I’m after?

How long does it take to train a puppy?

Dog training depends on the dog and how much homework the dog owner is willing to put in. Puppy training is similar to dog training in that the onus of the work depends on the owner learning new ways to interact with their dog. For a quick crash course, you can opt for a single, two hour smart-start puppy training consultation to teach you the ins and outs of being a new dog parent. You can learn how to manage potty training and what to do if the puppy experiences separation anxiety. As long as you’re willing to work on dog training a little bit each day, your puppy will quickly learn these new behaviors. If you’re not confident about training your puppy yourself, you can enroll in a 6- to 8-week puppy training course, with weekly lessons touching on everything from bite control to obedience. Puppies usually need to be at least three months old for group training classes. If you want more intensive one-on-one work, you can opt for private lessons. Some behavior problems can be resolved in one session if the dog owner learns and can implement new skills. In the case of more serious issues, 3 to 10 private sessions can typically correct challenges.

Hire skilled professionals for absolutely everything.
