Winston is everything you need in an excellent trainer. He did a very good job with our German Shepherd and also our Lab. We feel happy with the money spent and feel as though he really worked with us to develop a closer relationship with our pup. Thanks
We adopted our four-year-old German Shepherd, Eiger, when he was a year old. We were told at the time that he didn't do well with other dogs, and the organization specifically wanted to place him in a home that didn't have other pets. Eiger has always been great with people and kids, so we knew there weren't any abuse issues in his past. While we didn't know Eiger's full history of what might have happened that first year of his life, it was evident that it was more than the fact that he hadn't been properly socialized with other dogs. His aggression toward other dogs was more likely rooted in fear, and this was exhibited by the fact that he had issues being in close proximity with other dogs. He would start to become anxious when he would even see another dog at a distance, crying and licking his lips. Other dogs that showed interest in Eiger or made full eye contact with him when passing by would especially set him off snapping and barking, with hackles raised. While Eiger successfully completed Basic and Intermediate obedience courses (keeping him as far away as possible from other dogs), his Advanced obedience class was packed full (in a small room) with mostly other large dogs. This proved too much and we had to drop out. It was evident this wasnt something we could resolve on our own. One of my vet's techs told me about Innovative K9 Academys intensive five-week, in-home course, so we decided to try this "immersion" approach in the summer of 2015. While it was hard to leave Eiger and not be able to see him on a daily basis, David kept us updated with texts, photos, and video charting Eiger's progress. When Eiger first went to Innovative K9 Academy, he also had significant separation anxiety, so that first week of Eiger's training was especially focused on getting Eiger comfortable in his crate and being in close proximity (but still separate from) other dogs. Over the course of the five weeks, David helped Eiger gradually become tolerant of other dogs. While Eiger will always prefer people to dogs and isn't interested in playing with other dogs, we are grateful that his anxiety around other dogs is pretty much gone. We are now living in New York City where we pass by other dogs on pretty much every street corner. I can't imagine trying to navigate Eiger down these narrow sidewalks passing by other dogs if he hadn't been through David's training. Thanks, David! --Karla, NYC
We have now had the honor of getting two German Shepherds from VMS...and we could not be happier. Daniel is wonderful. He has been there with advice even 3 years later with our first pup, and also now with our 5 month old Lily girl. He even met us half way when we went to go pick her up! Thank you for everything VMS!! We will always get our GSD's with you!!!
Maloree is the most amazing trainer ever. We are so blessed we were referred to her, and within a short amount of time she taught our puppy so much and she understands how German Shepherd's think. She is very knowledgeable and we have left our dog with her for 3 weeks while vacation and I knew she was being taken great care of. Great trainer, hands down best in Utah. Highly recommend her, she will train your dog to be obedient, calm, and kind. Trust her 1,000%.. You won't regret it.
Roswitha did an amazing job! Her patience and expertise was so helpful and her focus on positive reinforcement was very effective. She is so knowledgable and answered all of our questions and concerns about our young German Shepherd I would highly recommend her for your dog, training needs.
