I was getting my daughters sprinkler system fixed as her dogs ate up the outside sprinkler box. I do not live in the same city as my daughter and all of my communications were over email or text. I knew the project was going to be a big one so I asked for bid which was provided. After the work began Roger kept me updated on the progress of the job. When it was all said and done I think Roger had more time and parts in this than what was quoted, but he never asked me for more money. He honored his pricing and did a quality job. I would highly recommend him to anyone needing sprinkler maintenance or repair. He is responsive and professional. I greatly appreciate all of his help and time in fixing my daughter's sprinkler system.

Adam has done several handy man repairs for me. The biggest was painting my entire entry way. He has also installed various plumbing fixtures, caulked my counter tops and crawled around in my attic. He is always professional and does an excellent job. I trust Adam with anything I need. He also takes care of my yard in the summer and has for years.

Ty did an excellent job on my outside stairs and deck. The deck was re-secured and a few stairs were replaced. The work also included sanding and painting the entire deck and stairs. Very professional and fairly priced. I would recommend Ty in the future.

Ron installed my new toilet. He gave me an estimate in advance and was done in time. His service was cheaper than the ones on Angie's list and he did an excellent job. Romoval of the old toilet was included in his hourly rate, which was good. It has been about 10 days since and I have been enjoying my new toilet :) I would call him again for any future plumbing needs.

Brandon has done several jobs for us. He has installed 2 new furnaces. 1 new air conditioner. He has done many plumbing repairs including updateing all the old copper piping. We switched from boiler to gas last year and he handled it all for us and 2 new water heaters. He is prompt and curtious. Very reasonable on prices and best of all backs up all his work. He's honest and tries to get you the best prices on parts. We will always call him if we need any repairs. We highly recommend him. Everyone I have recommended him to have been very satisfied.

    Q & A

Answers to commonly asked questions from the experts on Thumbtack.

How much does refrigerator repair cost?

Refrigerator repair generally costs a fraction of the price of a new fridge and shouldhave your appliance up and running again in no time. The problems your refrigerator is experiencing and the parts required to fix it will affect your repair costs. Where you live can affect labor rates, which will raise or lower your costs. Here are some examples of average costs:

    • Diagnostic fees: $50-$100. Repair pros often have a service call fee or diagnostic fee to account for their time traveling to your location with all their tools to assess the problem. If you choose to have them repair the fridge, most pros then credit this fee toward your repair cost.
    • Parts: $20-$500. A new compressor averages $200, an icemaker $300, and computerized components such as touch screens and control boards average $300 or more.
    • Basic repairs: $180-$400, including parts. This price range can include repairing the evaporator or fan motor.

    How long do fridges last?

Refrigerators can last 10 to 20 years, although the most common lifespan is about 13 years. If your fridge is acting up, consider its current age when deciding whether to invest in repairs or buy a new one. Common easy fixes include faulty thermostats, dirty coils and clogged drain lines. Thermostats and dirty coils can be generally be fixed for an average cost of $80-$100. Clogged drain lines, which usually cause leaks, can often be fixed for under $200.

More complex refrigeration repairs such as replacing a bad compressor or replenishing low refrigerant can cost more because of expensive parts and higher labor. A new compressor costs an average of $200, not including labor. If labor is an average of $75-$100 per hour, and the repair takes 3 hours, you’re looking at roughly $500. Consider the age and purchase cost of your fridge; investing $350 in a $600 fridge that is 8 years old may not be cost-effective.
