I've hired movers throughout the years to use personally & as recommendations to my real estate clients. I feel fortunate to have finally found an amazing moving company (The Movers 123). They are one of the few company I have found who is insured beyond the standard many other companies offer. This was my first criteria as I had another company I hired recently completely destroy an expensive piece of art work only to find out they wanted to reimburse me cents per pound. My second criteria when hiring movers are clean records, background approved and drug tested. It is the only way I am comfortable having them in my home and around my children. When you spend an entire day with strangers in your home this is a must. Not only did I feel comfortable they made the experience a pleasant one. I have expensive items big & small so it is imperative I can trust the workers in my home. The movers sent to me were seasoned professionals, patient, and well mannered. From the first interaction to the last follow up call I was completely impressed with the professionalism & high standard of serve I was provided for my move. I rarely leave reviews or make recommendations unless I am positive I can trust the company I am putting my name behind. I can say without hesitation I would recommend this company for any of your moving needs and have signed them up to be our company recommended mover for all of our clients. Job well done! Thanks, LeAnn

I would definitely recommend TOSA Movers to anyone. We had some large and heavy items that had to be carried down a narrow winding stairway. They watched every corner and wall! They brought more guys than we paid for – and then stuck around to help me position the furniture and even unpack. They looked for every opportunity to go beyond what I expected. I could tell from the first moment they arrived that these men were anxious to do something good with their lives. I loved being around them and was glad I chose them as my movers. - Carol Waldron – Provo, Utah – Dec 2015

They cleaned up my apartment when we were moving out and they did a good enough job except in the kitchen but that was somewhat our fault.

I was very pleased with the work provided by Right Track Movers. Two men came. They were careful moving the items I had and listened to my request to place items by when I thought they would be removed from the storage unit. They organized the items well in the storage unit. Both men worked quickly and efficiently even when talking to me. They assisted in wrapping some of the items that I had not wrapped well or that came loose and made certain everything was placed well and safely. My husband was surprised at how well the storage unit was packed and surprised at how much space we had left to use. The men completed the job within the 3 hour minimum window. I was pleasantly surprised by how little the move cost. I would recommend them to anyone who is about to move. These guys do an excellent job and are very careful with your belongings and furniture. I give them 5 stars!!

Rob and his son moved some heavy furniture out of my apartment and took it to the dump for me. Rob was quick to reply and communicate with me about the job and was even able to come with less than a days notice! They were both so friendly and professional and were finished in less than 30 minutes. Moving is a nightmare and they made it so much less stressful. Hands down the best choice, I will never call anyone else.

A small job but more than I was willing to do at my age. Wasatch Movers came to help with a couple of young men that looked like pro football players. These two gentlemen were very good and knew what was needed with no wasted steps. A job that would have taken me a full morning was completed in 40 minutes. We enjoyed the movers, very nice young men. Thank you Wasatch Movers and Mike for making the move happen so smoothly.

Hiring “Get it Gone Utah” was one of the best decisions my wife and I made when we decided to move. They were incredibly responsive, on time, they got the job done SO fast. They were a fast friendly and extremely hard working group of guys. 10/10 would recommend, and we will be hiring them again if we decide to move again. Thank you guys!

I really enjoyed working with the Pro Movers. My job was to have them move my treadmill from downstairs to upstairs. They were careful about turns and put it exactly where I wanted it. The small tables they had to move out of the way were put back exactly where they had been. Honestly, they were perfectly centered, and I am critical down to an eighth of an inch! I especially appreciated their friendliness and professionalism throughout. I would hire them again.

We were really pleased with the service we received from Cook's Carpet Care. We had several spots by our door that were dark and muddy looking, and I wasn't sure how well they would come up. Cook's Carpet Care was able to completely get them up! Not only that, but the carpet was totally dry in 3 hours. It was so nice to not have to wait all day for the carpet to be dry. Our apartment had a nice smell for a few days afterward as well, which is always a bonus! The carpet feels fluffed up, and looks so much cleaner than it did before. Nice work Cook's Carpet Care!

Connor helped us to unload the moving boxes and furniture of a one-bedroom apartment. He carried and put our stuff carefully and finished the job in around 3.5 hours. We think that he was doing a good job and the charge is relatively low compared to other movers.

These guys were great! My sister and I had to bring the u-haul ourselves. We were a little nervous about everything. These guys went above and beyond! They asked where we wanted everything placed. They were very careful, yet quick. They even helped us assemble bed frames and a mirror that we had no idea how to do. They packed our empty boxes back to the u-haul as we moved along in the process. Hire Mastermind Movers! You can't go wrong. Friendly. Professional. Great service.

The movers at AmerApex Moving could not have done a better job moving our belongings over 2,000 miles away. The crew was on time, polite, very careful, and kept the move fun and in good spirits. Nothing was damaged and the price did not budge a penny. Thank you again for making my move across country stress free. I will be recommending AmerApex Moving to all my friends and family!

Scott and Tony were great! They worked hard and were very professional. They were a little late but called beforehand to let us know. The quote given (by Marisa in the office) was accurate and there were no hidden charges or up-charges when the men came. The men made the adjustmentment for their being a little late with no charge to me. We very much appreciated their help with our move and I would highly recommended them.

Answers to commonly asked questions from the experts on Thumbtack.

      What do moving companies do?

Moving companies provide a range of services to help you physically move out of one residence and move into a new place. But moving companies can do so much more than just haul your belongings across town in a truck. The national average for moving company prices ($250-$350 per hour) reflects the range of services provided. Here are examples of all the ways moving companies can help:

      • Packing: Moving companies can pack your belongings for you. They typically charge a flat rate for both the box and the labor to pack the box. The more time-consuming the belongings are to pack, the higher the cost per box. For example, books could be $5 per box, linens $10 per box, and fine china and glassware $18 per box.
      • Specialty moving: Safely move a baby grand piano, a oversize aquarium, or other specialty items with the help of pro movers.
      • Storage: Many moving companies can store your belongings while you wait for a new home to be remodeled or closing of your new home to be finalized. If you’re moving long-distance, they often provide short-term storage free for a specific length of time, and a set rate after that (such as $60 per square cubic foot of storage space used).
      • Long-distance moves: No need to rent a trailer and move your things; a long-distance moving company can haul your belongings across the country for you. Typically they charge by the cubic foot for moves, with prices based on your destination.
      • Unpacking: Moving companies can even unpack your belongings for you after they have moved them. This is not as common, and will definitely increase the price, but can be helpful if you’re not able to tackle this task yourself.

How much does a moving company charge per hour?

When you’re ready to make a major move, it’s time to research moving companies’ prices. A moving company may charge on average anywhere between $25 and $100 per hour, per worker, for moving services. The price will vary with regional labor rates, local cost to do business, and the level of service the movers are providing. Nationally, the average hourly rate for a moving company is $250-$350 per hour. This price includes a range of pricing, from all-in service with four or more movers on site to standard hourly rates for one or two movers. Other factors that affect moving companies’ prices are packing, stairs (or elevators), and distance. For a full-service move, you pay movers to pack your belongings for you. You may pay for the cost of the moving boxes and an hourly rate per worker, and there may be additional charges for packing fragile items. Stairs will also add to your moving prices. Lifting and carrying boxes and furniture up and down stairs takes more time and creates more physical labor for the workers. Moving companies may charge flat rates for flights of stairs, such as $50-$70 per flight. A moving company may also charge a one-time fee for moving things via elevator, such as $75-$100. If parking is not accessible in front of your home or apartment building, there may also be an additional fee for the added distance to carry your belongings to the truck.

How much does it cost for long-distance movers?

Long-distance movers transport your belongings across the country for you. No more renting a trailer and road-tripping from state to state with your entire house hitched to your bumper. Long-distance movers make the move happen so you can fly to your new home, suitcase in hand, and wait for your furniture to arrive. Nationally, the average price range for long-distance movers is $1,490-$2,230. The distance you are moving and the number of cubic feet the movers have to transport will both affect cost. Another factor in long-distance moving costs is whether you choose to pay for an exclusive move or a consolidated move.

In an exclusive move, which is more expensive, your belongings are the only cargo on the moving truck. The movers travel directly to your new house and deliver your belongings on a scheduled day. A consolidated move is more affordable because the movers transport your belongings along with those of other people, saving them time and gas — which means you save money. The downside is that your belongings typically arrive with a two-week delivery window rather than on a prescheduled day. Read reviews to make sure you can trust the company with your possessions to ensure a peaceful moving process.

How much does it cost to move a one-bedroom apartment across the country?

Professional movers can handle the hard work of moving your one-bedroom apartment across the country for you. You can determine what your move will cost by learning the rate your movers charge per cubic foot and how they factor distance into the total cost. Cross-country movers typically charge based on your belongings rather than apartment size because that determines how much work they will have to do. For example, a studio apartment that is crammed full of things will take more work and moving truck space than the contents of a three-bedroom apartment with very little furniture.

Cross-country movers may also have varying rates, depending on where in the country you are moving. For example, a company may charge $5 per cubic foot for consolidated moves along the East Coast and $6 per cubic foot for consolidated moves from the East Coast to the central states or the West Coast. A one-bedroom apartment costs approximately $1,500 to move across the country.

How much does it cost to move across the country?

The national average cost for hiring cross-country movers is $1,490-$2,220. A number of factors can affect the cost. One factor is the distance you want to move. For example, an East Coast-based moving company may charge $5 per cubic foot for consolidated moves along the East Coast and $6 per cubic foot for consolidated moves from the East Coast to the central states or the West Coast. Another factor is how many belongings you have. Most cross-country movers charge by the cubic foot.

The type of move you want is another consideration in cost. You can have your belongings moved exclusively and delivered on a set day, or you can opt for a consolidated move, which is less expensive. In a consolidated move your belongings are stored and transported with the goods of other customers who are moving to your general vicinity during the same general time frame as you. Your belongings should arrive within a one- to two-week window, rather than on a set day. If you want the cross-country movers to pack your belongings for you, the cost will also increase.

Hire skilled professionals for absolutely everything.
