Yvonne and the food were amazing. She feed 8 people and gave us all cooking lessons. She was fun to be with, very informative, and the food was incredible. I will be using her again and I've recommended her to several friends already.

Chef Mike was so fun to work with, and was so professional. My girlfriend and I hired him for a private cooking class. Not only was the food spectacular, but we learned so much. I now consider myself an expert Gnocchi maker :) Thanks so much Chef Mike!

I have taken several cooking classes from Sharon Liapis and they all have been wonderful. I learned cooking tips for different foods, how to pair wines with different types of foods, and getting to taste everything on the menu planned for our classes, so delicious. Sharon is well organized and knows how to present and teach her classes. I will continue taking various classes and can't wait for her to expand more in her catering business and dinner service.

Chef Bo held a cooking class at my house for me and 9 friends - it was one of the most fun, interactive parties I've ever hosted! We had a blast, learned a lot about cooking techniques that I have been too scared to try before, but Chef Bo made it so simple to understand and increased my cooking confidence immensely. All my friends loved the event, as well and we can't wait to have him again!

Chef J is simply AMAZING!!! His food, hospitality, and level of professionalism is unbeatable. I have done everything that Chef J has to offer. I have participated in multiple cooking classes of his where the interactions between teacher and student makes you feel like you are learning to cook 5 star meals from a long time friend. I visit his food truck as often as I can. I am always searching for where he is setting up and it would be impossible to make anything more delicious. I also participated in his "Cultural Aspects of Food" course at the University, where Chef J was able to demonstrate his knowledge of food from around the world. He cooked us everything across the globe from Moroccan to Ethiopian food. He is simply the best and you will not be disappointed.

Q & A

Answers to commonly asked questions from the experts on Thumbtack.

How much do private cooking lessons cost?

You can take private cooking classes to have fun, to learn a new skill, to improve your health, to bond with your partner, to enjoy a playful first date or to have a unique birthday party experience. Nationally the average cost of private cooking lessons ranges between $100 and $150. Prices can vary, depending on where you live, the type of cooking class you’re taking, the ingredients the chef provides, and the reputation of the chef. Cooking classes with Anthony Bourdain will clearly cost more than classes with a local restaurant owner. The number of people in the class will also affect the cost, with group lessons often priced per person to account for the cost of ingredients. For example, for group lessons, a brunch workshop may cost an average of $70 per person, a steak dinner with sides could cost an average of $80-$85 per person, and a sushi lesson could cost an average of $100 per person. Ingredients play a major role in cost, as the chef will pre-purchase the food you will be working with. Weekday classes will usually cost less than weekend classes.
