I first met Mark through group guitar lessons through Davis Community Schools. I took his first and second group lessons. Since then I have been taking private lessons for almost two years now. Mark is an excellent guitar instructor. He adapts all my lessons to what I want to learn. He is patient, kind and encouraging. His favorite phrase is, "You are better today than you were yesterday!" I use to take lessons out of state for several years and never really learned anything. I never felt motivated to practice. In my two years with Mark, I have always desired to practice regularly and have made far more improvement in this short time than I ever did previously. If you are interested in lessons, or know someone who is, Mark is DEFINITELY your best choice! I have seen him work well with students of all ages. You can't go wrong with lessons from Mark DesLaurier!

I always wanted to learn to play the guitar. I took his classes (Guitar 1 & 2) through the Davis County Community School and I have learned more than when I tried to learn on my own. He is very pleasant and makes learning enjoyable. He is an excellent instructor.

Mark is one of the most patient teachers I have ever worked with. His love of teaching and playing is very evident. I took his guitar class first part and an taking the second part. I will then move to private lessons from him. He is a great teacher.

Best guitar lessons ever! My daughter and I have been taking lessons from Mike for about two years. We have both made great strides in our technique, music reading, and overall ability. Mike is completely dedicated to our progress. His own understanding of the instrument is amazing! I feel like we should be paying double for this level of professionalism, experience, and knowledge. He can coach on any area you want to improve on; singing while playing, a some specific music genres are some we've focused on lately. He is very workable with scheduling and provides makeup lessons if needed. We will be students as long as he teaches!

Darrin was my 3rd, and absolute best guitar instructor. The other two instructors were the typical "buy a book and I'll help you with it" types. Darrin not only used his custom curriculum to fit me, he helped me get rid of the myriad of bad habits I had developed It's worth pointing out I do not take criticism well, but Darrin kept his criticism constructive & positive. As a result, my playing technique improved dramatically. As I said, Darrin tailored his curriculum to fit me. In doing so, he helped me realize I had a knack for playing blues, a genre I never even bothered listening to, let alone play. My point is that not only did Darrin turn me into a self sustaining musician with great potential, he helped me discover part of who I am, he literally changed my life. You owe to yourself to take lessons from Mr. Goodman. He won't teach you that killer Metallica song, no. BUT, with your patience & practice, he will teach you how & why that song sounds killer, and he will teach you how to figure songs out by yourself, heck, he'll teach you what you need to know to write your own killer songs! He turned a lazy young adult into a blues guitarist that gets admiration for his playing (especially my vibrato) from others, to include other experienced guitarists. That's above & beyond any instructor in my book.

Darrin is a great guitar teacher and is well-versed in many styles of guitar. He implements a custom curriculum for each student in order to maximize learning efficiency. I have a friend taking lessons at another guitar studio in the area and his teacher prints off prints off inaccurate tabs from ultimateguitar.com instead of spending time accurately transcribing songs or customizing lessons like Darrin does. Darrin doesn't just teach you how to play songs, but instills a level of understanding of how music works in order to become a musician yourself and create your own music. There is a complete recording studio in Darrin's home where he gives lessons and can help you record your own music. Darrin also is a professional musician, playing in the popular power metal band Sonic Prophecy.

Amazing. he has taught me so much I didn't know. He has helped me to improve my guitar playing and song righting by an exponential amount. He is a amazing teacher he knows what he is talking about and knows what he is doing. He even helped to fix my guitar and tune it up. And I'm still taking classes from him and will continue for as long as I can. All in all he is a amazing person and a amazing teacher. If you thinking about guitar classes he is the guy to go to.

Devin you are an awesome teacher!! I've loved that both of my boys look forward to you coming. I also appreciate that you set a good example and make learning how to play fun and cool. We have great lessons with you. We feel lucky you come to our home and it's been fun getting to know you. If there was a way to motivate and get them to be better at practicing from your end that would be great!! Just isn't as fun coming from mom :)

Mike is a great guitar instructor. I have been taking lessons from him using my electric guitar to learn how to play rock and metal, but he has also been teaching me theory and all things important to being really good at playing guitar in general. I have never learned to play any instrument before but have always wanted to. Mike definitely knows his stuff and is an expert at playing guitar and teaching it. I've only taken lessons for about 4 months now but am surprised at myself by how well I can already play by applying the exercises and technique he teaches me, and being an adult that says a lot, because I don't always get to practice as much as I would like. I definitely plan on continuing my lessons with Mike because it is exciting to see my progress, and I know he will help me reach my goals to play. I've had some friends tell me that it took them 2 years of playing before they even started playing songs like Master of Puppets and I'm already about to start, and have already been able to play simpler songs completely. Also, every time I have a question about anything in guitar Mike always is able to explain it to me in a way I can understand.

I have been a student for about two years starting with no previous instrumental experience. It has been an enjoyable and rewarding process. By preference, my classes include music theory with challenging songs and concepts. Classes can be geared toward your music style and guitar preference including bass. Whatever it is you wish to learn Mike can teach it. Mike has been a patient, positive instructor; he has my strong recommendation.

About

Lessons are tailored to the student's goals, including custom proportions of technique, song learning, and music theory. I can show you the way toward being an accomplished musician - whether you want to be in a band or just play for fun. I believe playing music is one of the most rewarding things a person can do. I am just recently getting my Thumbtack profile together, so more is to come. I have many years of experience playing and teaching. I have a great deal of success in getting students "unstuck" from their current level where they plateaued for a long time. For beginners, I can help you avoid long periods of being stuck from the git-go. I am a very patient teacher. I strive to find the balance between keeping it fun and doable, and at the same time providing encouragement for the challenge, at whatever rate each individual student can handle and likes. If you have goals for the guitar, I bet we can get there!

About

My name is Amber Stachitus. I am a lyric soprano. I hold a Master's Degree from the University of Utah and a Bachelor's Degree from the University of Colorado at Boulder, both with an emphasis in Vocal Performance. My education focused on Vocal Pedagogy; Music Theory; Italian, French, German, English and Czech Diction, as well as training in Vocal Technique and Performance. I have studied voice with Julie Simson, Ariel Bybee and Dr. Robert Breault. I am fluent in Italian and have a grounding in German and French IPA and grammar as it applies to translations. My teaching focuses on classical technique and vocal exercises that provide the foundation for a successful performance. I assign art songs, arias and musical theater pieces according to the singer's individual abilities, in line with the goals they have for their practice. I provide a customized lesson: 30 mins, 45 mins, or 60 mins (for advanced students), consisting of warm-ups, vocalization and repertoire work. We will also focus on diction and vocal health. We will set and work towards your goals as a performer, whether they be personal or professional, family events or competitions. Classical technique will enhance your singing, whatever the genre.

About

I'm a music instructor. I teach violin, piano, and guitar in my home studio. I have been teaching for 20 years to all ages.

About

I just love playing and teaching the guitar. Music is a huge part of my life, and I want to share the experience of being able to create art without necessarily picking up a pencil and paper or an easel and a brush. I am dedicated to teaching others on how to play this beautiful instrument because it's a great hobby, it's very stress relieving and just mind-sitting. Mind-sitting? Yeah! Once you learn how to play the guitar and understand the fundamentals I will help show you, playing the guitar goes from being a struggle to pin down the right notes at the same time, to like riding a wave as it gently dies out at the top of the sand and washes back into the ocean. It is very calming and surreal. You feel like a part of the instrument, and I want to share that feeling with everybody who is willing to sit down and take the time to learn such a beautiful part of life.

About

I can teach piano or violin in your home. I have 15 years of experience in teaching in the schools. My primary instrument is violin or viola, but I can teach beginning piano and basic music theory. I prefer teaching children ages 6-15, beginner and intermediate.
