- What should the customer know about your pricing (e.g., discounts, fees)?
It is complicated. Every roof is different and has different needs. Our repairs have set prices for some things and time and material for others. On new roofs, there are many factors such as existing layers that may need to be removed, style of shingle requested, pitch of the roof and so on.
- What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?
As a contractor we are required to do continuing education yearly. We go to other seminars and training classes to stay up on all the new products coming out.
- How did you get started doing this type of work?
I can't imagine that anyone would go to college to become a roofer. We all just kinda fall in to it. Some people like it and some don't. I like to rock climb and stay fit, so it was the perfect profession for me. I started when I was 17 years old and it is all I have ever known. I started before cell phones and laptops. Not sure how we got anything done back then.
