  • Unfurled Music LLC

    (30 reviews)

We ALSO have locations in OGDEN, and HUNTSVILLE, as well as Salt Lake or Online via skype. Brian has been coaching singers for over 15 years. He teaches all styles, including pop, country, jazz, Broadway, rock, classical, and more. Brian uses a technique that is based on speech-level singing, the same method used by some of the most famous singers of all time! He helps singers to do specific exercises designed to train the tiny muscles inside the larynx (voice box.) Once strengthened and toned, these muscles will function more efficiently. This will free your voice, allowing you to sing more beautifully, powerfully, and easily without strain. The 'breaks' in your voice will diminish, and your range will increase. Brian can help to repair and heal damaged or injured vocal chords. He can teach anyone to sing! It doesn't matter if you are tone deaf or a professional singer. Brian can help you to improve your voice beyond what you ever thought possible, no matter what your vocal skill level is. Brian also teaches style and performance, helps singers with artist development, and can help you to gain more confidence.

My services include individual voice lessons or group lessons if you feel more comfortable in that setting. Ear training is a very important part of my instruction and I have many students who have learned to sing on key when they had struggled previously. Many singers need additional coaching when preparing for auditions and I have been able to provide that instruction for many students. I am trained and experienced in providing a wide spectrum of vocal training and coaching. Over the years, many of my students have excelled in vocal competitions, obtained leads in musicals, performed in pageants, recorded CD's, become soloists or performed with choirs. I have been rewarded with the confidence I have seen in each of these students as they achieve new performance goals. I can promise results as I have seen improvement in all of my students.

I received my bachelor's degree in vocal performance last year from Carnegie Mellon University School of Music, and I have been singing professionally since I was 15 years old. I focus on developing a healthy, versatile technique in my voice students based off of the classical style of singing. I believe that this technique is the gateway to all other types of singing including jazz, pop, musical theater and opera. No matter what your skill level or musical interest is, I know that I can help you to reach your vocal potential. I offer lessons for all ages with performance opportunities as an option as well.

I teach voice to people of all experience levels, ages 14 and up. I have five years of experience teaching classical and musical theater styles (with emphasis on mainly classical). I have a degree in vocal music education and have studied classical voice myself for more than ten years. I love working with students to help them find their own voice and find music they love to sing! I believe it's very important that students find a teacher that fits with their learning style and personality, so my first lesson is always free. After that, my rates are reasonable ($25/hour or $15/half hour), and we can work out a lesson schedule that works with your time frame and needs.

  • Studio Kids

Studio Kids programs are designed to allow each child to have their moment to shine. The focus is not on creating a few “star” participants, but about creating a safe and fun environment for all participants to experience “star” moments. Often, this requires some creative role or script writing. There are no auditions at Studio Kids. The process for casting and assigning dance or vocal solos is largely by request, with basic elements of fairness applied at the discretion of the instructor. The overall goal is to teach music, dance, and theater concepts, while providing an environment for increasing skills, self-esteem, team building, and fun! In addition to musical theater classes, Studio Kids also partners with Sounds of Music Studios, whose mission is to pair music students with teachers across Salt Lake and Utah counties. We currently specialize in voice, piano, and guitar lessons, so contact us, if interested in some high-quality private instruction.

  • My goal is to make singing easier for you! Something I can't help is to get excited and invested in making sure that my students really feel what is going on in their voice so they are able to reproduce healthy singing by themselves. Lessons consist of exercises specifically designed to what my student needs the most at that time to most efficiently get to the next level. We then work on a song of the student's choosing, and I will help you apply technical corrections so it's easier for you to sing and have a more rich-quality sound! It is the student's lesson, not my lesson. Nobody wants a voice teacher who talks the whole time and doesn't give you a chance to sing! You learn by doing. So I make sure that you walk away from each lesson understanding what you learned and with a specific assignment to work on before each lesson for maximum progress.

My clients make my job the most enjoyable! They are fun and great to work with. I love that I get to come into the studio every day and listen to singers who are putting themselves out there regardless of how afraid it makes them or how hard they work. I get to watch them constantly grow and get better and for that reason, I will always love this job.

What or who inspired you to start your business?

I have been raised in a home that believes strongly in being entrepreneurs. It wasn't difficult to decide I needed to teach! And the best way to do that is to build my clientele and own my own business.
