At first, Colby seemed to be on top of it all, capable and dedicated to solve the problem. He first ran several scans to eliminate trash, virus', etc. The computer ran for about 1.5 hrs. He then attmepted to restore my Outlook.pst file. After about 5 hours he indicated that I should find someone else that knows more than he does about the problem. I spent the next day unscrambling, as best I could, changes that had occurred during the previous day. He texted me and asked if I still needed his help. I said of course, and told him that I had used a program he left on the computer to scan and create a new Outlook.pst file. I told him that I had bought the program he left on the machine, but could not get it to activate. He then tried to direct me to reinstall the various programs that he had loaded on Saturday that he needed to get on-line remote to my computer. I had removed those and he then tried to get me through installation of another one.About 1/2 way through he just stopped responding to my texts. I figured out how to reinstall Teamviewer and also Join.me and texted him as to the status. No response. I think the problem is that in today's techie world, no one wants to talk, just text. That is the most time consuming and least effective way to solve a problem, particularly with a client who is not extremely computer conversant. He asked me to pay him twice the quoted price because he had spent longer than he thought he should have; although he caused me more problems than he solved. I told he I would send him a check, but probably will not. Where I sit today, is in a worse state than I was when I started, not sure what to do. I am communicating with the PST Scanner programmers, again by email,no phone number, to try to determine what I should do. This may take weeks, or months to simply get my outlook working again and recover the emails and contacts lost. The computer now runs slower than it did when I started this adventure.
