EBRR crew did a great job with our attic installation. And more importantly, the job was done very neatly and quickly. They came and measured on Monday and our work was done Wednesday. Quick turnaround makes a big difference when you are in a need.

Hired these guys in Feb, 2017 when my furnace died. They came in with the lowest quote so I was a bit surprised by their professionalism and quality. Fast forward to November, 2018, I thought it would be a good time to replace our A/C since I figured it wouldn't last another Summer. They weren't the lowest quote this time (but they were close), but I figured any extra cost would be worth it since I know how they work. And again, it was totally worth it. Highly recommend! I wish they did work outside of HVAC because I would totally hire them for other jobs as well.

Called for service and was able to be seen the same day. Very professional! Andrew was able to quickly diagnose the issue with my furnace and fix it. He took the time to explain the issue and what needed to be done to fix it. He was very communicative throughout the process and my furnace works more efficiently than it has in the past 2 years. I highly recommend him!

In my opinion Kevin Creel is simply the contact you want to have for your HVAC issues. Tremendously impressed with him and his expertise. I request service on a Burnham boiler/furnace. I made contact with referral from Thumbtack. That gentleman started out well, explaining to me a CO problem that necessitated buying a brand new boiler. He also mentioned the part that was bad. He never suggested getting into the boiler to thoroughly clean it out of the rust and debris. Then when I was ready to purchase the part that he diagnosed as the issue he still attempted to move me to simply purchase a new boiler. I then called Mr. Creel at Climate Pro and explained my situation and that I did not want to get a new boiler. Mr. Creel explained what he could do and that he would come out. Mr. Creel looked at the boiler, explained to me in terms that I could understand and then proceeded to do what no other contractor was willing to do. He told me he believes that it would not be a problem to get the boiler up and running. The boiler had not been cleaned in many years. He explained to me that the cleaning he would do should take place every 3 or 4 years. Mr. Creel then removed the rusted top, exposing the inside of the boiler. He then explained to me that while the boiler is old and rusty it simply needs a thorough cleaning. He showed me how the rust was causing the CO problem in the area of the boiler and that the boiler needs to be cleaned out to allow the flames to go up in the boiler and the gas to go through the vent pipe. He brought in his tools and began to clean the entire inside of the boiler out and remove the rust and debris. He then put the boiler back together, he bled the radiators throughout the house, and then fired the boiler up and it works wonderfully! Mr. Creel then thoroughly cleaned up the area around the boiler! I could not be more impressed with his expertise, professionalism and honesty. I understand that contractors are in the business to make money but Mr. Creel's integrity does not allow him to take advantage of a customer who is at their wits end! Thank you Climate Pro! Thank you Kevin Creel! Continued business success and happy customers like me.

Ernesto Cruz (his company is Salvation, LLC ) installed a dryer vent and washer for me in my finished basement where there was no existing plumbing. I was very happy that to install the dryer vent he did not cut a hole in my basement drywall ceiling where as I has couple estimate previously and both had told me they had to cut the drywall ceiling at least in 2 places! He did a nice job to install new plumbing for the washer. At the end he hooked up washer/dryer and made sure work properly. He always showed up on time, very organized, and completed the job within the timeframe promised. He is polite and got the job done at a reasonable price. I would recommend him to any friend or family member looking for a good plumber. I will contact him for any future plumbing need at my house. Thank you Ernesto!

Brian was great to work with. He completed the project (replacing a rooftop HVAC unit in DC) on schedule and was great with communication leading up to the project. His pricing was competitive with other vendors and he offers a two year annual tune-up service and labor warranty with installation (most other vendors only offered one year or less). Brian also repaired an issue with the inside furnace unit at no additional cost to ensure the overall system would work at peak performance for years to come. I've since recommended him to several of our neighbors.

Ray was excellent! He was able to assess and recommend the right solution to the issue immediately! There was no time lost between his first visit and the furnace installation. The right size furnace - the problem was the furnace - installed by another vendor - did not have the fan power to heat the whole house. Ray predicted this by just walking through the house before seeing the furnace. Within 2 days he had the new furnace purchased and installed and the house is toasty warm and running on less energy than the old one. Because the old furnace still had manufactures warranty remaining, I was able to donate it. Unfortunately, the installers warranty had expired on the old furnace - I thought it was my old roof that was causing the change in temp. Ray's Heating and AC is the best - I highly recommend them! Tidy work area, good communication and professional - they know their trade.

Dave is smart, experienced, and honest: He gives you all the information you need to make the best, most economical choice for your situation if there are options (like which replacement furnace to install), and he explains what he's doing and what to expect. He's not there just to spend your money and leave. He knows you'll probably need an skilled, straightforward HVAC expert, and he wants you to think of him when you do. And he doesn't leave a big mess!

Curtis, the owner, was a pleasure to work with on my HVAC project. He provided detailed and thorough responses to all of my questions and concerns. Since I work during the week, Curtis was able to be flexible and come in on the weekend to install my HVAC unit. He was punctual and was able to complete a pretty big job (new evaporator coil, A/C unit, furnace and all wiring and connections) all in one day by himself. The price was very reasonable compared to other quotes I had received. Overall, I would definitely recommend Revolution Heating and Cooling as a trusted, professional company to work with.

In the past two weeks Nice Home Services cleaned our ducts, inspected and cleaned our gas fireplace, did the annual furnace maintenance and installed a new humidifier. You could not ask for a better team of technicians. They know how to do their job and are very efficient. The cost was much less than I expected compared with other companies. I definitely would refer Nice Home Service to my friends and family. You would have to look long and hard to find a company that provides this level of service.

JD was very nice and answered my questions courteously. He suggested me an alternative and cheaper ways to fix my heat pump. He also called the next day to ask if my heat pump still working. He came back when the fuse of the furnace and thermostat was blown due to change of battery to the thermostat. He fixed the problem and stayed on site to make sure the problem resolved. I will recommend his service to anybody who needs A/C repair.

In today's world of mediocre I was very pleasantly surprised with Kareen and her staff's work. Kareen has been to the house on 3 occasions now to work on my AC unit. On two of those occasions they have cheerfully worked in the rain to get the job done. This last where they installed a new HVAC system, they worked for over 6 hours in the rain and did not make a mess in my house or yard! I cannot say enough about this group and their consideration toward my home, my dog; and, their high work standard and excellence. They have gone above and beyond every time they have come out and have done an excellent job. I have not hesitated recommending them to my family and several friends already.

Q & A

Answers to commonly asked questions from the experts on Thumbtack.

Who fixes furnaces?

If your furnace needs to be repaired, you’ll want to find a qualified heating, ventilating and air conditioning (HVAC) repair technician. Each state has its own licensing requirements; some require all HVAC technicians to have an HVAC license, while others only require someone operating an HVAC service and installation company with employees to hold a contractor’s license. For example, in Alabama, the Alabama Board of Heating Air Conditioning, and Refrigeration Contractors regulates licensing, while in Kansas there is no state regulatory body and HVAC licensing can vary by region. For simple furnace repairs like changing out a filter, a trusted handyman can probably handle the job, but a trained professional should be hired for tasks like replacing a gas valve, installing a new inducer fan motor or other critical furnace repair jobs that involve dealing with gas leaks or other dangerous conditions. For more, check out our tips for smart hiring on Thumbtack.

How much will it cost me to replace my furnace?

The national average for furnace replacement is between $1,800 and $2,500. The cost can range dramatically higher depending on the model of furnace you select, any repair work you require, your location and the cost of installation. Furnace installation costs can be more than the furnace itself due to the cost of doing business and the expertise needed to install the HVAC equipment. Installing a new furnace generally requires technical know-how and the proper tools and licensing. It’s best to hire a pro and budget for furnace installation rather than risk potentially unsafe DIY installation. This will ensure your home’s safety. Check to see if your HVAC contractor has the proper licensing to do the job. If you need duct repair or replacement, expect to pay more for your furnace installation costs. The price for duct repair could be an hourly rate ranging on average anywhere from $85 to $150 per hour, with additional costs for parts.

How much does it cost to have your furnace cleaned?

To keep your furnace in good working order it’s important to have it regularly cleaned. The national average furnace cleaning cost ranges from $60 to $80, though prices can vary greatly based on where you live in the country and what your furnace maintenance includes. An HVAC company may have different rates for different levels of furnace maintenance. For example, one company may offer general furnace maintenance for $79 and advanced maintenance for $138. Another company may offer a 38-point maintenance check for $89 and a 64-point maintenance check for $178. According to Energy.gov, a standard furnace cleaning and maintenance visit can include:

  • Checking the vent connection pipe and chimney
  • Checking the physical integrity of the heat exchanger
  • Adjusting the controls to provide optimum air temperatures
  • Checking the combustion chamber for cracks
  • Testing for carbon monoxide (CO)
  • Adjusting the blower control and supply-air temperature
  • Cleaning and oiling the blower
  • Removing soot and corrosion from the furnace
  • Checking the fuel input and flame characteristics
  • Sealing the connections between the furnace and the main ducts

How much does it cost to replace a gas furnace?

The cost to replace your gas furnace will vary based on the type and size of furnace you select, labor and installation costs, and any repairs your HVAC system may need. Nationally, average HVAC prices for a heating specialist range between $1,800 and $2,500. It’s important to select the right size gas furnace for your heating needs. A furnace that’s too small won’t heat your house properly, while a furnace that’s too large will run inefficiently, cycling on and off and likely breaking down sooner. HVAC specialists calculate your exact heat needs by measuring your home and incorporating variables such as the regional climate and your home’s level of insulation. Retail pricing for gas furnaces can range from $650 up to $3,000 and more. The higher the AFUE (annual fuel utilization efficiency) rating of the furnace, the more efficient it is at turning fuel into heat and the lower your carbon footprint and utility bill will be. HVAC installation costs are often based on an hourly rate and can range from under $50 to over $100 per hour, depending on the company and the furnace being installed. Higher-end furnaces cost more to install because they require added labor and expertise. For a typical installation, it might take two HVAC installation pros one day or less to remove your old furnace and replace it with a new one.

How much does it cost to have your furnace serviced?

When your furnace isn’t regularly serviced it can operate less efficiently. This increases your energy bills and also prevents your furnace from keeping your home as warm as you like. Keep your furnace properly maintained with regular service. The national average furnace service cost is between $60 and $80. Companies may offer tuneup specials that cover all the necessary testing, tightening, measuring and cleaning to keep your equipment running at top efficiency. If you have a newer system, furnace service costs may be covered by your warranty. Outside of warranty, a basic tuneup might start at $58 and a more advanced maintenance cleaning could be over $120. Here are some signs your furnace may need service:

  • The furnace has stopped functioning entirely.
  • The temperature cannot be regulated.
  • Rooms in the home are either too hot or too cold.
  • The heated air coming from the furnace smells like gas.
  • The thermostat isn’t working.
  • Strange noises are coming from the furnace.
