Tom jump-started my career-change resume project by dropping what he was currently working to get me up and running with immediate help due to a deadline I was facing. I am forever grateful for the personal attention he was willing to give during an important moment in my career path.

I really enjoyed my career coaching session with Laura. Her support and honesty led me to a greater understanding of what employers are looking for. I went out after our meeting and purchased a book she recommended and and found many helpful tips. I spent the next day giving my resume a much needed overhaul. Even my dad gave it a read and changed a few things on his resume too. I am so grateful! Thank you for everything, Laura!

Coach Linda is fantastic. She has excellent academic and career credentials across a range of relevant disciplines. Yet she is very low key, informal, flexible, and easy to work with, and does not presume to "know it all." I recommend her without reservation.

The journey hasn't been easy but the process of getting there with help has made it bearable. The key was to keep focus on the gosl at hand. The visual workouts of video's was a tremendous guidance for each day workouts. In addition, the meal plan was an added bonus in achieving and completing weekly goals. I appreciate my online coach for all the times he pushed me to see what was in front of me and not beneath me such as the scale. And, to appreciate how far I have come. An environment of professionalism and constructive feedback in persuading clients like myself to keep pushing. It wasn't easy but with this online program, it made changing my bad habits into habits that will better my overall healthy lifestyle. Thank you, Coach Reese.

I got my dream internship as a result of working with Kate. I wasn't sure which industry I wanted to pursue, I just knew I was horribly unhappy with what I had been doing prior to business school. I knew that my summer internship was a great opportunity to try something new, but I wasn't sure how to narrow down my possible choices. By asking me thorough questions and learning about my strengths and preferences, Kate helped me develop a plan to pursue a job in the Hospitality industry. With her input on my resume and her help preparing for my interviews, I landed the first job I applied for. Without a doubt, I would not have gotten that job without her help. After 10 years in the workforce, I can finally say that I love my job!

I had the honor of working under Kristen Crockett when she was a Trainer and Consultant for College Summit. Kristen has the ability to coach, mentor, and guide in a way that really brought out my leadership skills, confidence, and fearlessness as a facilitator, speaker, and professional. She understands the most critical strengths someone needs to enhance, in order to take their leadership and boldness to the next level. At the same time, she delicately but consistently tackles an individual's professional challenges in a way that allows growth both personally and professionally through her coaching and mentorship. My experience working under Kristen's training and coaching allowed me to excel, gain directorship positions, and eventually have enough boldness, confidence, and discipline to start and grow a successful business. I would highly recommend her as a speaker, trainer, or coach.

    About

Hi, there! My name is Teighe (sounds like "teeg") and I'm a spiritual life coach and certified as a Hypnotist and Neuro Linguistic Programming practitioner with the National Guild of Hypnotists and Washington DC Hypnosis Center. I believe there is an underlying commonality in all systems and have dedicated my life to helping people to break free from dogma, to re-write their fate, and to discover the Divine in their lives. I specializes in helping people identify and achieve their personal and spiritual goals by teaching tools to help with the issues that are causing them distress, anxiety, and exhaustion all while discovering their connection to their personal power and creating solid strategies for achieving success. In the context of spirituality, I spent the early part of my life as a Christian and the latter as a pantheist, participating in many spiritual systems. I began to feel resistance to the structure and dogma that so many systems seem to require in return for a spiritual connection and enlightenment. I wanted to discover how to be get enlightenment without all the rules and regulations on my spirituality. I wanted to be free. And so I embarked on a decade-long journey to the core - the source of spirituality -where I could find fulfillment without having to adopt all the extraneous stuff. That journey is an ongoing one, but some of the discoveries I have made along the way are too incredible not to share with the world and I want to share them with you. Whatever your interests, I will help you write your own great romance with the universe. Tools I use range from tarot and astrology analysis to teaching trance and meditation techniques for self development, stress management, building intuition, discovering purpose, and creating abundance.   As a former Professor of Graphic Design at BU, Georgetown, turned successful Video Producer, I have spent years teaching and developing action plans for effective communication and goal achievement that are unique to each individual case. I have known devastating hardship as well as extraordinary success and I can help guide you to the solutions and sense of purpose that you are looking for, through a number of tried and true creative techniques I've learned and developed over the last decade.  The progress and success of my clients means the world to me and I'm looking forward to starting this journey with you.

    Q & A

Answers to commonly asked questions from the experts on Thumbtack.

    What is a career coach?

If you’re interested in furthering your career and want expert help, a career coach is a smart solution. A career coach is a professional you hire to guide you during a job search or a career transition, or to help you improve and advance in your current position. A career coach analyzes your work situation and learns what your professional goals are. They then create a strategy to help you achieve your targets. Throughout the process they should provide objective feedback and guide you in approaching the process strategically. Here are some of the tools and tasks a career coach may assist you with:

    • Helping you build a strong resume that reflects your work history, potential, and skills
    • Coaching for interviews and strategies for solid answers built around your resume and the target job
    • Defining your career goals
    • Creating a plan for job searching
    • Improving networking strategies and skills
    • Developing strategies for negotiating raises or promotions
    • Assessing why you’re not getting where you want to go
    • Identifying new positions or career opportunities that fit your skills

    Why is career counseling important?

Career counseling can help you discover your career path, help you overcome challenges preventing you from finding happiness in your job, or help you learn more about career opportunities that are available to you. Career counselors are typically counselors who specialize in helping guide people into their best career choices. As professionals, they have typically completed a master’s degree in counseling with a focus on career counseling and bring a nuanced understanding of the emotional blocks that prevent someone from doing what they love or getting ahead in their current position. Here are some of the ways that career counseling can help:

    • Identify your skills and talents and how they correlate to different career paths
    • Educate you about the educational requirements for launching in various careers and what earnings can look like
    • Help you understand the kind of environment you want to work in, and which careers are best suited for that
    • See opportunities to transfer your existing skill set to other career areas
    • Help you identify causes of tension or unhappiness in your current career and how to overcome those difficulties
    • Help you create a game plan for moving forward
    • Provide a safe space for you to understand your feelings about career choices you’re making

    What is a career counselor?

If you’re feeling lost in your career path, overwhelmed, in need of a job but confused as where to start, or ready for change but uncertain what you want, a career counselor is a good choice for you. A career counselor is typically a licensed professional who has earned a master’s degree in counseling — likely with an emphasis on career counseling. Each state has different licensing requirements for career counselors, so be sure to research before reaching out to a pro.

Due to their academic backgrounds, career counselors often have a more holistic and in-depth approach than a career coach. Career coaches are not regulated by states and also tend to be more business-focused — a good fit for those who know what they want but need help achieving it. On the other hand, a career counselor provides guidance and clarity around some of the more emotional aspects that job hunting and career movement entail. Career counselors meet with you in a series of one-on-one sessions. They assess your personality and learn what drives you. They get a detailed understanding of your work history and your hopes, and often work to help you discover any internal blocks preventing you from going where you want to go. Hiring a career counselor is appropriate at any time in your career, from recent graduate to executive-level management.

How much does it cost to hire a career coach?

When it’s time to take your career to the next level, it’s time to hire a career coach. The cost to have a career coach help you with your professional journey will vary based on how many sessions you require, the level of coaching you desire, and the rates of the coach as determined by their experience, expertise, education and training. On average, career coaching sessions can range from 60 to 120 minutes, depending on the professional and what your needs are. Career coaches in smaller towns and areas with a lower cost of living will also typically have lower rates than those residing in large metro areas like New York, although most do offer remote coaching. Many coaches also offer a free introductory consultation, which gives you the opportunity to determine if their personality and coaching style are the right fit. It’s helpful to ask the coach about their relevant experience and get references from former clients. Depending on the professional, session rates could range anywhere from under $60 to well over $250 per session. Package discounts are a good way to commit to the relationship as well as get savings on services.
