I have used Alvin Smithson's services for over five years as a piano tuner, teacher and performer. I am always impressed with his skills, artistry and professionalism. Alvin first came to tune my 100-years old Steinway after it had been neglected for a number of years. He first examined the instrument, diagnosed what needed to be done and then proceeded with his expert tuning. Immediately after he was done and started playing, I was amazed at how good the piano sounded. Alvin explained that with a piano that hasn't been tuned or played in so many years, it will take some time to achieve its best form and sound for which it was built. A short time after, my wife started taking piano lessons from Alvin and as she started gaining proficiency in playing under his guidance, the piano itself gained a rich pleasing sound. Alvin paid close attention and adjusted notes or did a full tuning whenever needed. He also took the time to clean the strings and do minor technical adjustments. When a string needed to be replaced, Alvin recommended a technician from a highly reputable company. Overall, we owe it to his expertise to have the wonderful old piano do what it was built for by the Steinway masters. I should also mention that I heard some great musicians at venues where Alvin is the regular piano tuner. People who visit our house and hear our piano, or play it themselves, always compliment its sound. But the best comes when Alvin himself sits at the keyboard, whether at our house, at a social function or performing in the theater, it's such a joy to hear him play some great classical pieces as well as his own wonderful compositions. He is truly a very talented, sensitive and highly knowledgeable artist. And such a pleasant person, too. My wife and I feel fortunate to have Alvin give us the best piano sound to enjoy live music in our home. I would recommend him to anyone as piano tuner, teacher and overall musician.

Tona is an amazingly compassionate and dedicated instructor. She provides voice, violin, and piano lessons to my 3 children; with great flexibility to their varying interests and moods. They are developing a wonderful appreciation for music and the capacity to make their own. Tona is very talented, open, and dedicated to her profession. I would recommend her without reservation.

I’ve been taking guitar lessons from Gregg every other week for the last 6 months. The main reason I decided to seek out private guitar lessons from an instructor, was because I couldn’t get into online or DVD guitar lessons which I attempted for several months. Moreover, I’m old school when it comes down to music lessons, due to learning the cello through classroom instructor- based lessons from elementary to High School, along with private lessons thereafter. With that being said I can say I’ve made one of the best decisions towards enhancing my playing on the guitar by taking lessons with Gregg. When I first started taking lessons from Gregg, he provided an individual plan for me to help with learning scales, technique exercises, licks, and improvisation. He showed me how to make my own melodies on the guitar by using scale/chord relations. He provided the theory behind using various chords with scales which I did not gain from DVD or online guitar learning. He also broke down how much time I should spend on practicing the guitar to get where I want to be. He is very encouraging and will provide feedback to you which will enable you to improve in certain areas. I would like to recommend Gregg for beginner to intermediate players, as well as advanced players who are preparing for gigs. In addition, Gregg cannot practice for you, he can only provide lessons. I try to practice from 30 minutes to 2 hours a day depending on my daily schedule. Gregg is a great teacher, I am already playing with others (bassist and drummer) and using the skills he taught me to improvise my playing.

My initial session with Tod was to establish a baseline since I had taken piano lessons in the last few years. He perfectly asked questions, explained techniques and chords, and watched as I also played and read the music (inadequately). I would recommend Tod to my friends.

I am both shocked(!) and incredibly happy with how my voice has improved since I started voice lessons with Barbara just a matter of months ago. Tone, range, everything. She is truly an amazing teacher and a lovely person. And as a bonus, you will never have as much fun at a music lesson as you will with Barbara! Very, very highly recommended!

I got my first guitar last Christmas (at 52!) and thought I'd take a couple of lessons to get started. I saw Bill's ad, liked what he had written (though I have to say I was a little skeptical) but thought, probably no harm in taking a couple lessons and then doing the rest on my own with free YouTube videos. Well, here I am, almost one year and 52 lessons later, playing guitar like I never dreamed possible! And no YouTube in sight. Nothing but Bill Twilde's exceptional guitar teaching and mentoring. You know, you come across true teachers like this once, maybe twice in your life. I wasn't even sure I could form a single chord with my fingers. But because of Bill's gentle, intuitive guidance, I learned I can do more than I ever thought possible! Ok, I guess I'm gushing now but it's kind of hard to stop. He's really that good. Go see him play out somewhere in the meantime, and imagine taking lessons from someone who is also that great a performer. Been an awesome experience for me and can hardly wait to start year two!

My 7 year daughter has been taking private lessons with Hiroko for 2 years, and my 5 year-old son started last year. They are both making good progress. Hiroko is a very supportive teacher, who encourage my kids to enjoy the music as well as to develop correct technique. My daughter has been playing a wide-range of music at her level and enjoys composing little pieces with the help of Hiroko.

Caitlin Budny has been my voice teacher for the past 2 years. With her expert guidance and professional experience I grew and continue to grow not only as a singer but as a performer. She challenges students to explore not only the nuances of the music, but also the depth of the character they are portraying. She genuinely loves to teach and that comes across in her total investment in her students' budding careers. Any singer would be privileged to work with Caitlin.

Maddie is without a doubt the best vocal teacher you will come across. After only a few months of lessons, I was singing like a new person. I feel confident that I have gotten top notch training and have the confidence I need to be successful in the musical theatre industry. I came in with some vocal issues (straining, fatigue and bad habits) and Maddie gave me tricks to make sure I was singing healthily and in a way that I could sustain. Not the mention she is the sweetest, kindest person you'll meet. I am forever greatful for Maddie and the tools she has given me. If you are looking for a vocal teacher, you can't find someone better than Maddie.

John tutors our family in piano. He has an excellent method of progression of lessons and the role of lessons to expand the appreciation and the understanding of the music. He has a gentle approach which is good for the little ones but also drives the older ones with goals and instills passion for music.
